Dermatitis and inflammation AFTER going gluten free
Posterboy replied to Stef37's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Stef37, I haven't had any of your symptom's. . . but I do . ...do a lot of research and if you haven't removed dairy from your diet I would consider removing that next. Aged cheeses especially have a lot of tyramines in them and could cause a histamine problem. NUTS also have tryamines in them. see this SFgate article and this thread about... -
Legend13, You are right to suspect the PPIs as not helping you or your acid reflux. Here is a nice overview of GERD from fox news 5+ years ago and taking PPIs might be making your acid reflux not better but worse. Open Original Shared Link they say quoting "up to one-half of GERD patients don't get complete relief from even the...

Legend13, See this thread it might help you. https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/122593-tonsillectomy/?tab=comments#comment-997652 Here is nice online article overview from medicinenet about the broad spectrum of issues including tonsils that can be effected by an EBV infection. https://www.medicinenet.com/the_broad_spectrum_of_epstein...

Ennis_Tx, I think your acute pancreitits is a side effect of your long term use of PPIs. Here is a study on it. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/7397766_Acute_pancreatitis_associated_with_omeprazole taking PPIs with acute pancretitis is not advised. https://bmcmedicine.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12916-017-0804-x ...

Plumbago, I get you a 100%, well 99% anyway. I call it the lost "keys syndrome". Whatever disease you are diagnosed with . . .you are married too! Supplementation is hard for people to understand and do right. As Knitty Kitty noted their are forms of Vitamin D that work better than others. The same is so for Magnesium forms. ...

Plumbago and Knitty Kitty, Here is the link to the full citation on " Role of Magnesium in Vitamin D Activation and Function" if you all want to read it in more detail. http://jaoa.org/article.aspx?articleid=2673882 You can't always tell what is really happening in an abstract. I hope it is helpful but as always it is not medical advice...

Plumbago, If I have mispoken I apologize. I was basing the increased/depletion use of Magnesium as a co-factor in the activation of Vitamin D. It apparently only happens with the D3 (active calcitrol form) according to linus pauling institute. we know about how Vitamin D and calcium interacts but we don't know as much about how Magnesium...

Plumbago, Cyclinglady and Knitty Kitty, I have had a busy week on the homestead and some internet issues but I wanted to chime in on this Vitamin D and or sleep Apnea problem now that I have a little more time and my internet is back up and working. Let me first say ..... I personally don't have Sleep Apnea my problem(s) was more CFS related but...

Chris H, Ch88 has given you good advice look into taking a B12 sublingually. Many newly diagnosed Celiac's are low in a host of nutrients. see this research entitled "Vitamin and mineral deficiencies are highly prevalent in newly diagnosed celiac disease patients." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24084055 they conclude quoting ...

KateA, Knitty Kitty has given you good advice and links as she always does. I would try some Magnesium Citrate 2/day with meals and one hour before bedtime. It really helps me sleep well. If you begin dreaming after many years of not remembering your dreams it is working. Here is the research on Magnesium and Insomnia entitled "The effect...

Stacy0w, If you are having trouble with RLS try some Tyrosine. Here is a good web page on all the research about restless leg syndrome. http://www.rlcure.com/naturaldopamine.html the information about tyrosine is a the bottom of the page. I hope this is helpful but it is not medical advice. 2 Timothy 2:7 Consider what I say... -

Posterboy replied to briandjoyce's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Brandijoyce, If you have trouble with Insomnia either not going to sleep or having trouble falling back asleep. Try some Magnesiu Citrate or Magnesium Glycinate it can help your insomnia issues. Here is the research. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23853635 Here is a nice article on the many ways it can help us sleep better from... -
Uncontrollable acid reflux
Posterboy replied to Anne01's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Anne01, See this thread. https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/122303-extreme-bloat-help/ try taking some BetaineHCL (powdered stomach acid) of 4 or 5 capsules with a meal and be sure to drink at least a couple glasses of water/tea which ever you prefer. Water activates the BetaineHCL. .... so more is better. Never take BetaineHCL... -
Monica, It is mainly aged cheeses that are high in tyramines (depending on your sensitivity to tyramine) and process meats are the main triggers. though there are whole lists of food to avoid on a low tryamine diet. see this SFgate article and read all their links it is really very good. https://healthyeating.sfgate.com/histaminereducing...

Ch88, If you think you have H.Pylori you should best tested for it. Here is the study about non-invasive methods to test. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10882957 I used ACV once. . . .until my my doctor said my "blood was dry". Just be moderate with it and you should be fine. Longer term use can effect your potassium levels... -
Reflux - pain in neck above collarbone?
Posterboy replied to cristiana's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
cristina, I haven't heard of your antibiotic type so I googled the side effects. I don't handle medicine well so if I have started a new one I usually rule it out first when I have strange symptoms. Sore throat is one of the one's you should contact your doctor about. Nexium can be hard to get off you might try Rantinidine instead an... -

Posterboy replied to briandjoyce's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Ch88, I wouldn't over use apple cider vinegar. Longer term use of ACV can dry the blood and because it can raise stomach acid thus causing delayed stomach emptying it can lead to worsening of your symptoms. https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/apple-cider-vinegar-side-effects#section2 It looks like AN-PEP my actually help some celiac's... -
Monica, Where to start. They have all given you good advice. I would definitely look into a Histamine Intolerance. Though lower on the list . .. Avacodo has histamines in it. https://www.livestrong.com/article/106451-foods-trigger-histamine-response/ But what I really think is the result of your latest attacks is Tyramine? Never...

Ch88, I saw the same research you posted about how the pH turns off the immune response. It is very fascinating research. Here is the article from another source that might give a little more insight. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/321624.php Strong gastric pH can help protect us I believe from some of the effect of protein... -
Maureen and Cyclinglady, Of the foods you listed. . .. I would focus on the Chocolate. Chocolate has Tyramine in it and it could/can cause rashes that might be confused for DH. Sometimes Tyramine get's confused for/in high sulfite foods as triggers. Here is a great overview article on this topic. http://www.chicagotribune.com/lifestyles...

Will, I say sublingual because this bypasses the stomach entirely. When you are low in B-12 you are probably low in stomach acid too. . .and it and intrinsic factor (in the stomach) is needed to absorb B-12 and why we commonly become low in it. Taking sublinguals avoid the IF issue's in the stomach. Also have them check your Vitamin D...

Maureen, Go back and read the links I posted. I know most people don't unless they are searching for a particular answer. I actually come upon this research recently looking for something else. As far as I can tell it has been completely overlooked (forgotten) with time. I will post the abstract here for those who won't get to read...

Will, Both your GP and Ennis_TX has given you good advice. Try B-12 as a sublingual. Try Magnesium as Ennis_TX suggested and it can help your fatigue not related to an iron deficiency. I hope this is helpful but it is not medical advice. 2 Timothy 2: 7 “Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things” th...

Maureen, Here is some research that might help you. Some of this old(er) research (forgotten) and some of this is newer research 5 or 6 years old not yet understood. Soy can cause atopic dermatitis and if it is only mild DH then the atopic dermatitis might being confused as DH instead. Here is the research on Soy. https://www.ncbi...

Scott, Here is a study on Meneries in Gluten Sensitivity. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/221754965_Gluten_sensitivity_in_Meniere's_disease They say more than 50% might have NCGS symptom's in those who have Menieres which Vertigo is usually (a common) sign of Meniere's which often thankfully 80% of the time Vertigo goes away on it...
