  1. You're so welcome. Another thing to look for is inulin...Also called chicory root fiber. That really bothers my system. I had no clue it would be in my probiotic...but there it was. I switched that up and it helped also. Other places to look for carrageenan is yogurt, ice cream, cream...it's listed as an ingredient om Costco rotisserie chicken. Bummer...
  2. The thyroid is such a tough thing...having it be off by just a little can wreak havoc on your body. My endo says it's the master hormone...I never realized how much it controlled until recently. Best of luck at your appointment and please let us know how it goes.
  3. Do you drink almond milk or coconut milk? I'm asking because I was using these in my smoothies and having so much bloating and D. One day I read an article about additives in food that cause bloating and #1 on the list was carrageenan. Sure enough it was in both of my milks. I cut both out and my bloating went down a ton. Still searching for something...
  4. I'm really sorry...that stinks! You shouldn't have to worry about a can of tomatoes! I just saw yeast as an ingredient on a Swansons chicken broth and I wonder about it now. I hope you feel better soon. Take care. (((Hugs)))
  5. I agree with cyclinglady. If you have Hashis you can definitely swing from hypo to hyper. A full thyroid panel including antibodies would be great right now to see what is up with your thyroid. Make sure they get TSH, free T3, free T4, Reverse T3, TPOAb and TgAb. I've been hypothyroid for 14 years but was just recently diagnosed with Hashis. I've had...
  6. Oh wow! That is annoying! I'm my opinion, chocolate should be nowhere near wheat! Do you have Enjoy Life chocolate there? It's free of all major allergens. I believe plain Hersheys is gluten free. I hope you find something...great job reading that label!
  7. I'm so sorry to hear that. ((Hugs)) I hope that the medication will help quickly.
  8. Hey Fenrir...I think it's awesome that you went in and showed them how to do that! How cool!
  9. Salmon, baked sweet potatoes and kale sautéed in coconut oil. Yum!
  10. Hi...that's a tough one. I've gone to appointments by myself and wished I had someone with me. I've also dragged someone with me and then realized I didn't need anyone. Lol! If you are anxious about it and feel like it might help to have someone there then do that. My husband is such a calming presence when I'm worried...it's nice to have him at appointments...
  11. I wish I knew. I was diagnosed in January...things went pretty well the first 3 months and then not so much. I would love to have more variety. I miss dairy way more than gluten.
  12. I second the coconut oil. After cutting out dairy, soy, legumes in addition to gluten I had a hard time getting in enough calories. I'm still struggling with this to a degree. I find it hard to get enough with just meat, fruit and veg. Adding in some good fats has helped as they are very calorie dense. I've added the coconut oil to coffee and soup.....
  13. I just want to send you (((hugs))) and hope that you get some answers soon. You've been through so much but you are not alone.
  14. Hi there...I was just coming on to start a thread on Peripheral Neuropathy. Crazy! I was diagnosed 9 months ago exactly...I'm like you, so gluten free that there is no doubt. I've had a little PN here and there in my fingers over the years, but in the past 3 weeks it's in my feet constantly...both feet. It's so completely annoying. If I'm walking...
  15. Hey Beth...wondering how things went at Mayo. I hope you got some answers and are feeling better.
  16. Crockpot Italian meatballs, spaghetti, garlic bread and a tossed salad.
  17. Welcome to the board!
  18. I don't know how much 6 stone is...I'm in the US...but I do know what it's like to just keep losing weight, feel terrible and live in the bathroom. I'm very sorry that you are going through this. (((Hugs))) Try to get in to see a Dr as soon as possible and get full celiac panel. Also ask for thyroid testing...Some of your symptoms could be from that...
  19. Take in a list of your symptoms and a list of the tests you want done. The endo should examine you, including your thyroid. She should order blood work. When she does that, make sure that it includes what you want tested. You may also want to ask for tests for B12 and D...lots of celiacs are deficient in those and in my reading I've found that lots of...
  20. Enjoyable! I like how she calls people without gluten issues "Normals."
  21. That must be frustrating. Have you been to Boston yet to see if there's anything they can do? Does anything seem to help? I hope that you find a resolution soon.
  22. I just read about SCD...I could try it. I'm a little scared though...no sweet potatoes? I credit them for keeping me alive in recent months. Do you ever feel tired of what you're eating? I do...more chicken...more veggies...etc. I miss dairy way more than any gluten!
  23. I was diagnosed with h. Pylori at the same time as celiac. Fun! Anyway, treatment was a combination of 2 antibiotics, a PPI and Pepto. Then after 6 weeks I had to take in a sample to see if it had been eradicated. Unfortunately, my Dr's office didn't follow protocol and I ended up having to bring in a second sample. So gross. Anyway...it was eradicated...
  24. All victories should be shared and celebrated! Great news!
  25. Hi there...those could certainly be thyroid symptoms. Have you had any blood work done for your thyroid? If not, please do that. Ask for TSH, free T3, free T4, TPOAB and TgAb. The last 2 are antibody tests for Hashimotos, an autoimmune thyroid disease. A number of people on this board, including me, have that as well. Testing is a simple blood...
