icelandgirl replied to LilyR's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi Lily, This will be my 5th gluten free Easter. Our menu is going to be the same as last year as we really enjoyed it. ? ARCHIVED Gastro discharged me and cancelled endoscopy - in pain and worried!
icelandgirl replied to strawberrymoon's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi Strawberry, I had gallbladder polyps. I was diagnosed with them in the same month as celiac, as my Dr had ordered an abdominal ultrasound. My gallbladder was filled with polyps and the recommendation was to remove it, which happened about 2 weeks after my celiac diagnosis. Mine were all cholesterol polyps. Thats about all I know. My life was... -

ARCHIVED My mother
icelandgirl replied to Gemini's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Aww Gemini. That's so hard. (((Hugs))) When I was diagnosed I told my mom she needed to get tested. I sent her with a list of all the tests, but the Dr refused since she was not having diarrhea. When she switched Dr's I encouraged her to pursue it again and sent her with a list of tests. He said he'd test her. Instead of ordering the panel her... -
ARCHIVED UDI BREAD
icelandgirl replied to WATERWALKER's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Bad news for me. I checked both of the stores that normally have the original Udi's in the freezer and nothing. Just the new bread. -

I can't find it. Only the new one called Delicious White Bread. It's the one with modified tapioca starch. -

ARCHIVED UDI BREAD
icelandgirl replied to WATERWALKER's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That's a bummer. I have 1 loaf of the old version left. I'll have to see if Target has any in their freezer. I use it daily for my toast with sunbutter. -
ARCHIVED UDI BREAD
icelandgirl replied to WATERWALKER's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That's so interesting. I saw it at the store, but didn't get it. I've had issues with modified tapioca starch in the past. I've eaten the regular white sandwich bread with no issues. It has Tapioca Starch, but not modified. I'm not sure what the difference is or why it would bother me. I will be interested to see if anyone else has an issue. -
That is super scary! How are you now? I found this from 2013, so there have been issues known for a few years. Open Original Shared Link

icelandgirl replied to Jherm21's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi Jhern, I use McCormick for everything and have had no issues. This includes Montreal Steak which is a combination of spices. Hope that helps! -
ARCHIVED Five Year Post Diagnosis Endoscopy
icelandgirl replied to cyclinglady's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Wow! I am thrilled for you! Great news! I am so glad that you updated us, that is so inspiring. ? If I may ask, what have they recommended for the gastritis? I may have that...not sure. Gastro agreed to do labs first, just in case my gluten reactions have changed...so I don't know. But I don't want any of the medications. Thanks and great job...- 7 replies

ARCHIVED Help!
icelandgirl replied to Jms13's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thank you again for suggesting this! I heard back from my Dr and he has ordered labs. He said we'd start there and then decide next steps based on those results. I am going to do a walk in to the lab tomorrow. -

ARCHIVED Help!
icelandgirl replied to Jms13's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I appreciate this a lot cyclinglady. I've been asked if I was glutened and I really don't think so. Usually my gluten exposures have resulted in massive D, body aches, headaches for 3 weeks or so. This is literally just upper abdominal bloating and burping. Uncomfortable, but that's it for a little over a month. I do wonder though...in December I... -

icelandgirl replied to Jms13's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi jms, I am so glad that you posted this as I am having a similar issue and am hoping you get some answers. Mine started on December 10th, according to my food/symptom diary. I have bloating in my upper abdomen...stomach area I'm thinking. I also feel like I need to burp all the time and do. I sound like I have been downing beers all day. ... -

ARCHIVED Shocked - elevated TTG
icelandgirl replied to cristiana's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm so sorry to hear that! (((Hugs))) I do wonder if gluten has been causing the symptoms of what your Dr believed was gastritis. I think either a whole foods diet or whole foods plus certified gluten free for a time would be good. Maybe 6 months and then retest. In my house we only cook gluten free. I do let my kids have crackers and... -
