ARCHIVED Coping With The Isolation And Rage
SMRI replied to whatever's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Until you have to live day to day with Celiac, you really are not going to know all the ins and outs of making food safe to eat and expecting others it do that is what is rude, I think. There are plenty of shelf stable foods you can have on hand to take to a gathering or stop at the grocery store on the way. I just do not trust other's to prepare food properly... -

Hummm, I was diagnosed in about 2 hours..... Sorry, my experience with real doctors is no where near this and I agree, perhaps you need to seek out help for things other than Celiac.... -

How were you diagnosed? Rice is a grain, and it's considered gluten free and enjoyed but other people with Celiacs. THere are 1000's of people with Celiac, you are far from alone--and keep in mind, everyone responding to you is also Celiac... Why on earth can you not have Thanksgiving turkey? Turkey is gluten-free as long as you don't but stuffing... -

I'm trying to remember what they had last year--hot dogs, hamburgers for sure but I can't remember what else there was or if there were chips/candy even. I know they had peanuts and popcorn but who knows what CC goes one in that stand. -

ARCHIVED Do I Really Need To Go gluten-free?
SMRI replied to im1dermike's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I would agree--before you go gluten-free, schedule an endoscope to verify--and get the gene testing done. With mixed lab results like that, the scope will help confirm your diagnosis either way. -

I think your naturopath needs to change. Sorry, can't date someone that eats gluten, really, that's a bit extreme. I agree with the others, why are you on this diet to begin with? What training or schooling does this person have to make these recommendations? I'd find someone else with a medical background to give you information about what you should... -
Where is the pain and what is the cause. If you sprained your ankle, for example, heat can make it worse, where ice will make it better.

ARCHIVED Buying Beverages From A Restaurant
SMRI replied to BlessedMommy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I guess you do your research ahead of time and check menus online, etc. but most soft-drinks are gluten-free. Distilled alcohol is gluten-free. Don't go overboard with the worry either. If your child touched a wrapped stick of butter like you posted before, just wash it off..it's ok to use. -

ARCHIVED Could Your Retainer Be Preventing Healing? Yes.
SMRI replied to powerofpositivethinking's topic in Publications & Publicity
hummmmm....if the plastic is made with gluten, which is highly likely, I could see where it causes problems sitting in someone's mouth for long periods of time like that, especially since the tissues in your mouth are so soft and filled with blood vessels. It also makes me wonder if my daughter is reacting to HER retainer.....maybe not gluten but something... -
