  1. Until you have to live day to day with Celiac, you really are not going to know all the ins and outs of making food safe to eat and expecting others it do that is what is rude, I think. There are plenty of shelf stable foods you can have on hand to take to a gathering or stop at the grocery store on the way. I just do not trust other's to prepare food properly...
  2. Hummm, I was diagnosed in about 2 hours..... Sorry, my experience with real doctors is no where near this and I agree, perhaps you need to seek out help for things other than Celiac....
  3. It's kind of like being pregnant--either you are or you are not
  4. How were you diagnosed? Rice is a grain, and it's considered gluten free and enjoyed but other people with Celiacs. THere are 1000's of people with Celiac, you are far from alone--and keep in mind, everyone responding to you is also Celiac... Why on earth can you not have Thanksgiving turkey? Turkey is gluten-free as long as you don't but stuffing...
  5. I'm trying to remember what they had last year--hot dogs, hamburgers for sure but I can't remember what else there was or if there were chips/candy even. I know they had peanuts and popcorn but who knows what CC goes one in that stand.
  6. I didn't know you were a golfer gluten-free Lover--we are too....well we used to be, we haven't been out much in the past couple years but hoping to get back to it soon!! I used to be a single digit handicap but doubt I am any more. Our kids golf in college too. I'm not really cooking tonight--found some Barilla pasta for $1.99 so I got some of that...
  7. I would agree--before you go gluten-free, schedule an endoscope to verify--and get the gene testing done. With mixed lab results like that, the scope will help confirm your diagnosis either way.
  8. I would also check for other food allergies/sensitivities as well.
  9. I think your naturopath needs to change. Sorry, can't date someone that eats gluten, really, that's a bit extreme. I agree with the others, why are you on this diet to begin with? What training or schooling does this person have to make these recommendations? I'd find someone else with a medical background to give you information about what you should...
  10. Where is the pain and what is the cause. If you sprained your ankle, for example, heat can make it worse, where ice will make it better.
  11. We got 2 toaster ovens for wedding presents back in the dark ages and never thought I would use one--we regifted them . I don't know that I would have used it as much when our kids were still home but it's just the right size for hubs and me.
  12. Got the chicken thighs to work on the rotisserie.....boy are they good cooked that way . This is the oven I got to replace my toaster http://www.walmart.com/ip/FARBERWARE-Convection-CounterTop-Oven-Stainless-Steel/22866805 . It sure is handy!!! After dinner was just about ready, hubs texted me that he was going out for a party at work---oh well, leftovers...
  13. Yes---just woke up from a nap .....how's your sleep at night? Do you snore?
  14. Yes I searched but the information is 4+ years old. . Heading to Washington DC next month and looking for Gluten Free suggestions in and around the DC area. It's a short trip, so will probably be focusing our time around the Smithsonian's, Natural History Museum for sure!! I think we would like to take in the Newseum and spend time in the Library of...
  15. I guess you do your research ahead of time and check menus online, etc. but most soft-drinks are gluten-free. Distilled alcohol is gluten-free. Don't go overboard with the worry either. If your child touched a wrapped stick of butter like you posted before, just wash it off..it's ok to use.
  16. Going to attempt to do chicken thighs on the rotisserie again. I think I have it figured out what I did wrong last time .
  17. hummmmm....if the plastic is made with gluten, which is highly likely, I could see where it causes problems sitting in someone's mouth for long periods of time like that, especially since the tissues in your mouth are so soft and filled with blood vessels. It also makes me wonder if my daughter is reacting to HER retainer.....maybe not gluten but something...
  18. What kind of dog do you have? Our puppies look a lot alike I saw a blog the other day where a mom posted (in the comments not the blog writer) that have just ONE DAY of being gluten free her son's symptoms all disappeared, and she had a laundry list of digestive and neurological symptoms too....um, sure.....NOT.
  19. I had some chicken fajita meat and cheese in a corn tortilla and some baked zucchini. I had to eat at the cafeteria at the hospital today--I was being a guinea pig for a research study--, get down there, see the board, list gluten free meals---yay!! Can't find them anywhere. I finally asked one of the cooks/chef whatever, he showed me the 3 microwavable...
  20. Remi...have you had your thyroid tested?
  21. No Gluten ingredients but they said processed on machinery that handles wheat...so guessing CC? That part doesn't show on the Walmart link--that's not good!! this flags for possible gluten Open Original Shared Link
  22. A couple questions--hopefully someone knows the answers..my gene testing for DQ alpha 05:01,05, for DQ beta 02:01,02:01 Serologic Equivalent: 2,2, does this mean I have two pairs of DQ2 and would have gotten one copy from each parent? Then, my daughter's tests came back with her DQ alpha 05:01,05 and her DQ beta at 02:01,03 with Serologic Equivalent: ...
  23. No in and outs anywhere near where I will be traveling so far...I'm hoping my "find me gluten free" app works!!!
  24. I start my busy season for work in a couple weeks, which means I'm on the road every day for about 2 months or so....this year is going to be especially hard since I travel to places I am not familiar with and can be in a different area every day of the week. Is In-and-Out like 5 Guys where they don't give you a bun or what makes them a good place to eat...
  25. Just added up my calorie intake for the day and that will work
