  1. And..since poop is an ok topic here...I actually had "real" stuff today--just once too.....
  2. I had a margarita . I had coupons for Schar products so I got some of their bread for our BLT's....not my favorite gluten-free food so far....the Udi's we had was much better. I'm going to try the Schar with peanut butter for breakfast and see how that goes.
  3. No, you can't absorb it through your skin, although some people do have a skin rash related to gluten/celiac. Yes, a separate toaster is needed, cookware, maybe but probably not. You just have to make sure you wash your cookware well.. maybe separate what you have to make it easier so "these" pans are gluten-free only. It is easier if the house is gluten...
  4. Can you call the dr and see if you can just get your labs done tomorrow so you can start backing off on the gluten?
  5. I bought some gluten-free products to try today--I had $13 in coupons but oy!! I did buy some cookies--2 of them--for $4--but I was craving something sweet. I am saving them for after dinner tonight . For the most part we eat meat, potatoes and veges for dinner so those costs haven't gone up. Malt-O-Meal has a "healthy" line called MOM for cereal. They...
  6. I'm making BLT's tonight I think. I haven't had any all summer, tomatoes are late this year!
  7. Well, after 15 months of no period.....it showed up out of the blue....REALLY???
  8. This is a good article!!! They did a good job stressing Celiac vs self-diagnosed gluten problems!
  9. A lot of lab testing is subjective though--they look at a slide and count how many whatever's they see--so if they have a sample that isn't a very good sample--they don't see everything, thus the wide range of normal. Then, your blood isn't equally saturated with the enzymes or whatever so, if they have a sample that is on the lower end of that, like your...
  10. Again..differences in lab quality, sample quality, technician quality, etc, etc, and if the second lab was the Mayo lab, it is not positive...
  11. The OP wanted me to back up the info that there is a wide range of normal in labs and results do differ from lab to lab....and the interpretive data of her 2 tests is the same, not positive.
  12. Lab tests in general have a wide range of normal. It's not my "idea", it just is what it is. Look at the ranges for past blood work. Also, looking at my own lab results from Mayo <20 is negative, but positive is >30 for the IgG, so, even if the numbers above differ, interpretive data is the same...it's not a positive. My results Open Original...
  13. Just commenting on the price difference....and I guess if you just accept that gluten-free flour and food has to be 1000+% more than the gluten counterparts....prices are not going to change.
  14. I suggested that she go on a gluten-free diet. I don't think she will. She is away at college so there is only so much I can do. She will be home for 5 weeks for Christmas break so if nothing else, she will eat gluten-free then, not by choice .
  15. If they get the right side of the slide vs the left side of the slide and how the smear was done, the results can vary. That is why there is often such a huge range of "normal" for blood work. Also, your blood contents are not static, maybe that one pump just didn't have the same amount in it? Also, how good is the person doing the tests. In my repeat...
  16. Ok-then along the same like--Jergen's Lotion says the same thing--their products don't contain gluten but they can't guarantee their suppliers are the same...so ok to use or not? INGREDIENTS: WATER, GLYCERIN, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, PETROLATUM, STEARIC ACID, C12-15 ALKYL BENZOATE, ALUMINUM STARCH OCTENYLSUCCINATE, DIMETHICONE, LAURETH-3, CETEARETH-20, DMDM...
  17. No, not in a high COL area, but it's a smaller store. This was an AP flour, Cup 4 Cup. They had smaller bags of various other flours too. We have another store I can check to see if they have a better deal. We have a Costco membership but it's 45 minutes away so I haven't looked there yet. Even at $13 for 5 lbs, YIKES!! 5 lbs of regular flour is about...
  18. Please share the muffin recipe!!
  19. I can't have oats for a year so that makes it harder. I went to buy some flour today and just about had a heart attack at the $15/bag for a 2 lb bag . I'll have to look around. They didn't have any gluten-free bisquick at our store so I'll have to check the other store. Hubs won't be doing much baking at $15/bag though YIKES!!!
  20. Yes, she had everything. It's a bit complicated because she is IgA and IgG deficient already. The GI was going to call her today and discuss the next steps so I'm waiting for her to report in on that. He mentioned some medications at her appointment and he also wants her to try a gluten-free diet to see if her symptoms lessen. He was pretty confident...
  21. Sabatasso an Freshetta are Schwan's brands. If you have the yellow Schwans truck in your area you might be able to get gluten-free pizza from them too!!
  22. I'm making rotisserie chicken tonight. I'm just making thighs, not a whole chicken though--it's just the two of us . My new gluten-free toaster oven has a rotisserie and boy is that handy!! I'm going to try a beef roast on that next week I think too. I have to finish cleaning my cupboards and then make a grocery store run.
  23. Biopsy results are back and no evidence of Celiac....they took 8 samples in different parts so it's probably pretty accurate. Her GI dr said that they will treat her as IBS and see how that goes since she does have a lot of symptoms. If that doesn't help her, they want to see her back in a few months for more testing. So, good that she doesn't have Celiac...
  24. I always make extra pancakes and waffles (when I made those) and froze them. Not sure if they hold up well using gluten-free ingredients but I don't see why they would not. One time I started making waffles and discovered I was out of milk, so I substituted orange juice==very tasty!! I don't have a waffle iron any longer but I might need to get one now...
  25. It really depends but, I have been gluten free for a week--minus one pizza that I had to have and I've gone from being in the bathroom 5 or 6 times/day to once and I haven't even had to go today at all yet! I've had D and loose stools for at least 20 years too, most of the time, not all the time, but the past year or so has gotten really bad where it's all...
