  1. I think you are misunderstanding what they are saying though--they are talking about naturally occurring vitamins and minerals in foods, not the additives. Whole grain breads provide fiber and a few other naturally occurring vitamins and that is what is "good" about eating whole grain breads..not so much the added ones. Dairy products with added D are good...
  2. My GI and nutritionist told me no oats for a year....crud....
  3. We ate at that amazing restaurant again last night . They have a hot stone meal, kind of like fondue but using a hot stone to cook on instead of a broth or whatever. The food there is just amazing. I REALLY wish she would open more restaurants--with the next one in my town I'm debating about cheating tonight for the last time.....going back to my...
  4. With the easy access to multi-vitamins these days-that were not around in the 1940's, there really is no need to enrich foods..but since that would mean "change" and no one likes change, it's not something that will be eliminated anytime soon. If you are concerned about getting a balanced diet, maybe add in a good multi-vitamin to get what you think you...

    ARCHIVED My Heart

I've been doing testing for irregular heartbeats this week. Same kind of thing, feeling butterflies/bubbles in my chest. Wore the Holter Monitor for 24 hours and it confirmed I have some irregular heartbeats, about 10% of my beats are "off". Since I'm also recently diagnosed with Celiac and Sleep Apnea, my Dr. wants to wait to start any meds, beta blockers...
  6. These sound amazing. I copied the recipe down!! We ate at Noodles and Company. Their gluten-free noodles are pretty good!
  7. Daughter had her endoscope today, results should be back later tonight or by her follow-up tomorrow. Her gene pairs came back positive, but given I have them, not too surprising. The dr's are pretty confident with her symptoms and family history she is Celiac, or at minimum IBS. Her blood work is not going to be accurate because of her low IgA so that...
  8. Curious--do you just have one spot and is it confirmed DH? I have 2 spots--one main and one small secondary spot that gets scaly but it burns and itches off an on. It's not blistery though. I had a derm look at it a month ago and he said it was just because I itch it that it ends up like that--I've had it for a year. He called it a Prurigo nodule but looking...
  9. You can also call park services and see if they have gluten-free options.
  10. Freeze some grapes and use the grapes as your "ice", bring in some lunch meat, fresh veges and a dip, any sweet treat she likes, etc. Get a well insulated cooler bag and keep in a locker or something out of the sun until it's time to eat.
  11. It was a pretty amazing place!! Great atmosphere too. The food was fantastic!! We are going to go back again before we leave. There were about 10 thinks I was trying to pick from to eat last night.
  12. http://www.soldiersfield.com/twigs-tavern-and-grille.htm Walk in, ask if anyone needs gluten-free menu before they ask how many are in our party. They have 2 kitchens, one for gluten-free. The waitress brought out my daughter's food first, the gluten stuff, said she would be right back with mine after she WASHED HER HANDS, brought mine out, different...
  13. I hope someone knows how to read the gene testing . I still don't know what mine really say other than they are positive. I even asked my GI yesterday and she said that the reporting above is the molecular reporting and she's not sure why they do it that way and really couldn't tell me what they actually meant, other than I was positive for the gene pairs...
  14. I'd start by cutting out dairy and see if that helps but if you are still symptomatic, you should call your GI back and get more testing.
  15. Went to an amazing restaurant with a 4 PAGE gluten-free menu!!!
  16. Ok--this is still in trials and they are looking for more test subjects . It's for accidental glutening or possible CC at a restaurant, etc.
  17. Open Original Shared Link Not totally gluten-free but they have 2 kitchens, one for gluten-free only. They asked if we needed a gluten-free menu before they asked anything else. When the waitress brought out our food, she brought out the gluten stuff first, went back, washed her hands, brought the gluten-free meals out. The food is FANTASTIC too!!...
  18. Repeat labs show yeast present in my urine, same as a month ago. I'm assuming they are going to start treating me for this. I did a search but the threads on this topic are 8-10 years old so I'm hoping there is new information. Those posts say you pretty much stop eating just about everything to kill off the yeast, is that still true? Then what? Researching...
  19. I went back and reread the article several times thinking I missed what the new test was....guess not
  20. That is a great idea. I'm at a hotel and I booked a suite with a "kitchenette"...which to me means a small 2 burner stove and a smaller full-sized fridge...nope microwave and dorm fridge....wish I had an electric skillet!!
  21. I have the opposite, looking back, about the time my major Celiac symptoms started, my periods got very light and short. Up to that point, they were very regular and heavy for the first few days. They started getting lighter and lighter and farther apart. I haven't had one in over a year . I'm only 48 so it could or could not be menopause. I'd be ok...
  22. Just because you don't have symptoms doesn't mean it's not affecting you. It will still cause damage to your intestines.
  23. They will--that is standard at Mayo
  24. Sounds like our house when the kids were little..... Trying the gluten-free Trader Joe's Mac and Cheese for dinner----cooking challenge in a hotel with just a microwave
  25. I agree--they are hard on your stomach naturally, without Gluten. Take with food and that helps.
