  1. Grilled steaks, potatoes and veges tonight. I've been on a protein spree today.
  2. I put a few things back on the shelf today because they had Maltodextrin because I wasn't sure if that was a malt flavoring or something...good to know it's ok!!
  3. Rice Chex are gluten-free, as are most of their cereal. I'm struggling with breakfast foods too because I don't really care for eggs and gluten-free waffles, etc. are EXPENSIVE. Udi's bread is pretty good toasted so if you like that, you could try that--but it's expensive as well.
  4. Install and run Malwarebytes... you have some kind of something on your computer.
  5. I was just at the grocery store--thought I was safe with frozen veges--nope, "May have come in contact with....all of the top 8 allergens"....ok, so cop out CYA or true?
  6. Blood work negative and biopsy negative pretty much means you do not have Celiac. You could be sensitive to gluten without having celiac. You also have a LOT of conditions that can cause problems so it could just be a combination of all of that. Also, if eating gluten-free makes you feel better, by all means, do so!!
  7. I thought Millet was not gluten-free or do you just call it that?...or am I thinking of something else?
  8. Sun Screen?? Really??? That is a new one. UGGGGG.....I did think of the knife block. We used to have a magnetic knife holder on the wall in our old kitchen. I need to go get a new one for this house and get rid of the knife block. I don't have enough drawer space here to put them in a drawer. Oven mitts have been washed and put aside. Pet food and...
  9. Was she bloodwork and biopsy positive? I've never heard of "teen remission" so I don't know what that is all about. Can you get her to a doctor that knows more about it? Maybe do a gluten challenge for 6 or 8 weeks before and involve her in the doctoring process so she sees first hand...including a frank discussion, with photos if possible, with the doctor...
  10. On the final legs of de-glutening the house and was just wondering if there were any oddball items to watch out for. My shampoo and conditioner are gluten-free, so is my make-up and face lotion. What about goofy things like cleaning supplies or garbage bags or anything one wouldn't normally think of as a source of gluten?? Ok, maybe not garbage bags but...
  11. When I met with my nutritionist last week we were talking about the cavalier attitudes, especially in restaurants, about people that need to be gluten-free. When I ate at Olive Garden the other day, I told the waitress I needed gluten-free and she said "no croutons, right"...which was good. The salad arrived with obvious crouton crumbs. I still wasn't...
  12. I probably wouldn't eat that many either, but I'm going to share a box with another gluten-free family . I was wondering about shipping too. Let me know if you do order and how they survive the trip!

    ARCHIVED Eczema?

I had a similar spot on my hand--but only off and on for the past couple years. The dermatologist froze it off to break the "cycle" of the itching, scratching flair-up. It still itches and now that I have my Celiac diagnosis--which I did not have yet when I saw the dermo, my endo suspects it's DH. The spot looks better, not scaly like it was, but it still...
  14. I thought it was odd that TJ's didn't appear to have very many gluten-free options. I didn't realize that it was mainly labeling issues. We don't have one near us so I don't really shop there but I was at one last week and found very few things that were defiantly gluten-free. I tried scanning a lot of things on my one app but most of their products don...

    ARCHIVED Any Ideas?

Autism does change--or at least your functioning abilities can change with practice and schooling. There are a lot of people that connect what was "Aspergers Syndrome" but is now "high functioning autism" with various food allergies/Celiac. It would probably be worth your time to get tested and see if you are Celiac or have a wheat allergy.
  16. If your IgA is positive, you have Celiac. With a suspicious scope, it's pretty much a sure thing and you really don't need the rest of the tests. If your scope was positive and your IgA was negative, for example, then they would run the rest of the tests to confirm. If you are still symptomatic, there is something else going on, either another food allergy...
  17. He probably ordered the tests because your other tests were inconclusive. From what this says, there is a very slim change you have Celiac or will develop it later. That is good news on one hand, but leaves you without a diagnosis. Perhaps it's time to move on to a different clinic to see if they have more ideas, maybe a place like Mayo that will look...
  18. It's possible you just have a virus. There is a nasty one going around that causes similar GI issues. Try the BRAT diet, see if things calm down in a few days, keep drinking water and nothing else and if you don't see an improvement in a couple days, maybe go to your primary dr and see what else could be causing this.
  19. I would agree--you probably need to find another job and I think a gluten-free bakery would be a HUGE hit--especially if you could connect with local restaurants and provide their gluten-free breads and bakery items. One restaurant we ate at that was gluten-free buys all of their baked goods from a gluten-free bakery in town. Obviously starting your own...
  20. Red Robin sells individually wrapped Udi hamburger buns in bulk . Just contact the manager. They come 50 to a box.
  21. We had gelato. The woman at the store eats gluten-free so that was nice. She said to stay away from any "cookie" flavored ones but for the most part they were ok. I had a lemon and raspberry mix. I REALLY wanted the Chocolate Peanut butter but she said that was not gluten-free :
  22. I got my gift basket. It's really nice. I got some gluten-free "granola" bars, gluten-free pie crust mix, a couple sample sizes of gluten-free pasta, 3 different kinds of gluten-free cookies, 3 different magazines about living gluten-free, a handy pocket guide for what to watch for when eating out. It lists common menu items and possible ways they could...
  23. I was waiting for my follow-up appointment with the GI after getting diagnosed last month and yes, technically that is done...as of this past Tuesday so no I have to be gluten-free. I did cheat. It's my favorite pizza anywhere and now I won't be able to have it again. They are not gluten-free and really not set up to go that route anytime in the near future...
  24. That is not true. I was told I would be having a follow-up endoscope in a year. Other people I know have had more than one as well. If you are still symptomatic it is prudent to do another scope.
  25. Gluten free does not include "oat free" though. Yes, you may react to oats, but a product can still have oats and be gluten free. I have never heard of this company and have no idea what is or isn't in the product but it could still be gluten free with oats in the product list. That would be the same thing as something having dairy and saying it's not...
