ARCHIVED Need Advice On These Test Results..
tiffjake replied to water-nymph's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My Enterolab results were positive. I found out today that my blood work done at the doc office was negative (after being on a gluten free diet for three weeks). My doc looked at everything, and said that he was comfortable saying that I was gluten intolerent, but not celiac for sure. Here is the bottom line. Since going gluten free, I have no more headaches... -

tiffjake replied to NiqueP's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I had it on my ipaq phone, but then I had problems with my phone, so I took it back....so I am out the money for the gluten guard.....but, I did like it when I had it!! LOL. Hope that helps. I thought that it was neat-o, I didn't know about some foods, and it told me either green, for good to go, yellow, for maybe has gluten, and might want to contact the... -
ARCHIVED The Wrong Anti-depressant?
tiffjake replied to StrongerToday's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Traditionally, it takes 2 weeks before your levels are up to a theraputic amount in your blood. But if you know that you are having negative reactions right away, then you need to bring that up ASAP. If things are ok, then you wait for the positive result. But you don't suffer through the negative ones. That is what I was taught in school. (Pharmacy School... -
I totally agree with Nini!!! You could be world famous! You have something to offer that others do not! YOU know to look at broths and soups, where others might not!!! I say stick with it, if you want to, because you could change things for a lot of people, and get rich and famous doing it!!!!

Jen, I totally understand. I am only able to do this now because my husband is overseas so I am not worried about getting preggers for another year, and after that we want to start trying. I too have cysts, and I was told that I would have to be on BC's for life to help with the pain, but I wanna try and see on my own, because I was on the pill when they...

I had bad ones while I was eating a "regular" diet, because of the on and off constipation and diar. Within a week of getting gluten-free and drinking more water (that has really helped!) they have almost gone away. I was told that mine were caused by spending too much time on the potty (no kidding!). Since I don't have to do that as much, I think that might...

ARCHIVED Gluten Reaction
tiffjake replied to Lisa's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I usually have about 36-48 hours, depending on the food. Pasta is almost instant though. But pizza (I cheated a couple of weeks ago) was about 2 days. It is really weird. My symptoms are totally off now that I am gluten free. It takes longer to get sick, and the sick is so much less than it was when I was eating every day. Not that it is ok to eat now, just... -
ARCHIVED Having A Hard Time Committing To This Diet
tiffjake replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You are soooooooooo not the only one. EVERY DAY I drive by olive garden. And I see other people things at resturaunts. I have had a really hard week and I am dreaming of pizza and cookies. I just keep reminding myself of how much better I feel when I don't eat it. When I eat gluten I need to sleep for about 16 hours. It knocks me out like benedryl! It is... -

I got the HP I PAQ wireless pack (it is a PDA and Phone in one!) and it is able to use and transfer word and other documents. I like it. I am going to go get a different one though ( I don't like the phone on it, but I like the HP IPAQ part). I have Gluten Guard on it, and a pharmacy program (I am a pharm tech) and lots of other word documents with different... -
My husband is in Iraq so now is the perfect time to get off of any birth control and try to have a normal cycle on my own, so that we can start trying for children when he gets home. BUT- I got a Rx for the Ring first, and the Doc was SO RUDE!! I asked her how to use it and she said "there is an insert....." and I said "well, what if I have questions?" and...

ARCHIVED Weight Gain As A Symptom -before Starting Gf Diet
tiffjake replied to aberglund's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
You lost 90 lbs??? WOW, can you tell me how? I am another person who gains weight when I have gluten. I lost 10 pounds the first week of gluten free. But it has stopped! I need to lose a lot more (I am currently 270) and I need to know where to go from here. I know that I will be working out more now because I feel much better, but I am just wondering if... -
ARCHIVED Soap, Shampoo, Make-up
tiffjake replied to nathela's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use Bare Minerals and Glo Minerals. I love them both! I can't believe how many of my old products had gluten in them in some form. Even my mascara!!!!! I would go to a bare minerals store or a glo minerals sales location to try things before buying them if I were you. I have had some trial and error since I have neither near me. You can search for bare... -
Thanks. I just bought 4 new ones from amazon .com and that was one of them. I was under the impression that The Gluten-Free Bible was just that, the ultimate guide! I am glad that I posted my question, because I had no idea! I got a cold about three weeks into the gluten free diet, so I thought that there was something to it, but that could have just been...

Thanks for that link! I had no idea that this book was so off! It is the only one that I have read and I will have to broden my book horizens now! I take more info from this board than I do from the book, but I didn't know that she was off on so many things. I DID notice in the book that she talks about not liking the chat boards, how funny, they don't like...

Thanks! I found where I had read that. It was The Gluten-Free Bible. The Author was talking about people like herself that have lowered immunity b/c she has TWO autoimmune diseases, Celiac, and sjogrens, so she wears one to be careful. Guess part of that stuck with me, and part of it didn't. Thanks for your help!!!

I have a BIG question and I need help quickly!!! I read that while healing the gut, the immune system goes through big changes and celiacs are more likely to get sick in airport or hospital clinics. The article recomended wearing a face mask while traveling by plane. I did a search tonight and can't find that site again.....has anyone else heard about this...

I have seen people do it at a deli so I asked, it is lemon juice (watered down) because the acidity is a barrier against oxidation (stuff turning brown from Oxygen). There could be something else in there too. I also wanted to say that as much as it could be cross contamination, it could also be another allergy. I have a food intolerence to strawberries...

ARCHIVED Make Up Questions
tiffjake replied to Matilda's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hey Matilda, Sorry it has taken me so long to reply! I didn't know you had a question until tonight! If you have used the bisque, and the well rested, and the well rested looks better on your skin, then you probably have a yellow undertone. You want your make-up to match your undertone. The bisque is pink based, probably for people with pink undertoned skin... -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Else Get Really Cold Feet And Hands?
tiffjake replied to DonnaD's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I would look into the Anemia, specifically a b12 anemia. I have pernicious (aka, megaloblastic) anemia where the B vitamins are not absorbed into the bloodstream. I used to have terrible tingling in my hands and feet, and I still have a hard time when it gets chilly out because my hands are already cold and so they get double cold! I wear gloves a lot, but... -
When I eat out, I do eat better, but not at home! I just made gluten-free mac and cheese cause I am sick and I wanted one of my old favorites.....LOL, so not too healthy at home, but when I do go out, there aren't a lot of "bad" foods that are Gluten-free, so I eat a salad, meat, and veggies, really a much better mean for you!!!
