  1. You can use coconut oil instead of butter, Enjoy Life chocolate chips and rice milk. Simply substitute in your favorite cookie recipe at 1:1 ratios. Has always worked for me
  2. "Breakfast rice" is a good idea. Basically just fill a bowl with leftover brown or white rice. Heat in microwave. Add milk (cow, rice, soy - whatever), some nuts, raisins or other dried fruit, honey and cinnamon. Quick and easy.
  3. coconut milk whips. put the can in the fridge overnight then drain off the water that separates. You can whip what's left.
  4. Trader Joe's isn't actually a health food store, though they do carry some "organic" products. They have many great gluten-free options though. Check out their website for a good list of stuff you can buy there. Whole Foods is a lot bigger, more expensive - a health food supermarket I guess you could call it. Trader Joe's is like a specialty food...
  5. I am dairy, gluten and soy-free. You're actually better off getting calcium from greens than you are from dairy. All of the foods mentioned above are great calcium sources (many of them better than dairy, actually). There's a lot of information out there supporting the notion that dairy is not actually a good source of calcium, as we're led to believe...
  6. I read somewhere that baby carrots are soaked in a chemical bath of some sort. Can't remember the source though - I just remember that I stopped eating them a couple years ago after reading about it.
  7. I'm in my late twenties and I live abroad. I think the feeling lonely thing is completely normal, as is the only finding drunken people thing. It helps me to avoid having any expectations or criteria about what should happen or what I'm supposed to do here. Also, don't be afraid to just go out and do things by yourself if you have to. You're more...
  8. Ugh...LOL. Just curious - did anyone read this book and actually get through it? Took me about three months to get half way through, then I gave up. Life is just too short.
  9. The EM brushes are soooooo much better than the BE brushes. I loooooove my EM brushes - so luxurious and amazing (seriously!). Pretty affordable too for how great they are. I'd recommend the flat top, long handled kabuki and eye kabuki.
  10. I got confused there for a second and thought I was on facebook. So....I got my order. Hm....yes, Jasmine Tea. Lovely light purple shimmeriness.
  11. I posted a link to one - a few posts above...
  12. Here is the list of Frito Lay products not containing gluten: Open Original Shared Link Doritos are on there. I don't eat them so I don't know but maybe someone else can weigh in on whether they are indeed gluten-free. To keep things less confusing, it helps me to stick to obviously gluten-free foods (more natural stuff - like fruit, veggies,...
  13. You could do something like this: Pecan Pie Serves 2 The healthiest pie around! Make several if you
  14. maybe look for Seeds of Change if you hit the health food store. I remember that one being pretty good and problem free.
  15. I can't remember specific brand names but if you have a health food store or Whole Foods nearby they should have plenty of options.
  16. Yep they've got this one going on: I'm kind of wondering what's up with them though. I ordered a month ago and no sign of my package - and no one at EM will answer my emails
  17. Don't ever rely on others for food - assume all food at all social events will be unsafe - be prepared by having your own food with you or eating beforehand. Learn to enjoy tasty and healthy foods in new ways. Cook with new and interesting ingredients (fresh herbs, different kinds of vegetables). Explore new flavors and new recipes. oh wow - this...
  18. I keep all my stuff in my room and try to remember that most non celiacs are absolutely incapable of understanding that a breadcrumb could be dangerous. But yeah, I know shared kitchens are annoying.
  19. You might want to check Whole Foods 365 and Pacific brands. I'm not positive they don't contain vanilla though.
  20. That's really nice of you. If you like to cook from scratch, vegetables, meat, fruit, rice, cheese, beans and herbs are some naturally gluten-free ingredients you might be able to throw something together with.
  21. It really shouldn't. Check the ingredients. I once had the same problem with a certain brand of black tea but couldn't ever figure out why.
  22. I've heard and read that there can be casein in wine (and there are milk allergy warning labels on wines in Australia) but I've never heard this about vinegar or coffee. I'm in Europe so I'll check the labels and let you guys know if that part is true.
  23. I don't claim to be an expert but a good option might be to stick to a gluten, dairy and soy-free diet yourself, and breast feed her.
  24. I just made some really tasty ginger honey chicken. Chop up about 1 - 2 inches of ginger root, 1/2 an onion and 1 or 2 garlic cloves. Saute in olive oil for a few minutes pound chicken breasts (or use thighs) and add to pan let chicken cook for a few minutes, then add 1 to 2 spoonfuls of honey (whipped honey works well). when chicken is...
  25. There's almond milk and hemp milk ...or you could eliminate the "milks" entirely. Whole Foods and other health food stores usually have a nice selection of alternative milks...just avoid the Rice Dream and read labels and you should come across plenty of options.
