  1. Thai Kitchen noodle carts (you just put hot water in them). I often live on Corn Thins with peanut butter when I travel. Sharkies energy fruit chews can be a good alternative to energy bars. Can you bring stuff in a cooler and then put it in their fridge when you get there?
  2. I can't eat soy, dairy or gluten. I figure it's much easier to not eat something than it is to be sick all the time. It's simply a matter of not eating certain foods, and feeling really great all the time as a result. I've been dairy free for so long, the mere thought of cow's cheese or the bodily fluid of a cow makes me sick. I have no desire by...
  3. You absolutely aren't being deprived of any nutrients, especially if you're eating plenty of organic fruits and vegetables. Dark leafy green veggies (as well as many, many others) can be beneficial in terms of calcium. Certain nuts can be beneficial as well. Make sure you're eating plenty of whole organic foods and you shouldn't have any problems.
  4. Go to google. Type in "dangers of soy gluten" It should come up. Here's a couple of them. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link It's always easier to google search for threads than it is to try and search for them there IMO.
  5. I agree with Nini. "Trendy" and buying trends aren't the same thing. I think they're just saying more people are buying guten-free food due to an increased awareness of gluten intolerance. That's a good thing
  6. Have you looked into Steaz? They have a cola flavor that's really good. It doesn't contain corn syrup and I've verified with the company that it's gluten and dairy-free. It could definitely have corn, I have no idea...but maybe not? Open Original Shared Link
  7. For all the San Diegans out there, or anyone who might ever find themselves at Whole Foods in La Jolla.... I found out today they make these really amazing gluten-free panini sandwiches in the sandwich department. I couldn't try one myself because I can't do dairy, but people were raving about them. I talked to the girl who makes them and she said...
  8. I think that if your Enterolab results came back positive and you find gluten makes you sick, then you can safely assume you at least have a gluten intolerance. Therefore, don't eat gluten! I think a lot of doctors entirely ignore the concept of non-celiac gluten intolerance, because they just don't have a way to firmly diagnose it (that's not to say...

You can take trail mix, almonds, Clif Nectar Bars, Organic Food bars, Alpsnack bars, fruit, veggies, Corn Thins or rice cakes with peanut butter, corn chips, a bag of Tinkyada and a jar of sauce (if you'll have access to a kitchen). I'll often bring a big cooler and put as much stuff in it as possible. Carry food around with you so you're never in a situation...
  10. Can you have the alternative to xantham gum? I took a gluten free baking class a couple months ago and the instructor mentioned that there was an alternative to xantam gum for those who can't tolerate it. It has a really long name that I don't remember right now, so that probably doesn't help much, but I have my packet of info at home. Have you ever heard...
  11. you can always just put periods between the letters. c.d. g.f.
  12. 1. put corn tortillas in the oven until crispy 2. spread with Earth Balance (or your "butter" or choice) 3. sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar 4. eat! pretty good
  13. Between the butter, the sour cream, the cheese on the salad and the ranch dressing...that's a LOT of dairy. Maybe too much dairy too soon after being sick a couple days ago? Even if dairy doesn't usually bother you, you could be temporarily intolerant due to recently being sick. Just a thought.
  14. I like the Vanilla Protein powder. It's great in smoothies.
  15. You are on your way to the mecca of gluten-free restaurants. here's a start Open Original Shared Link
  16. I think so. I bought one yesterday... LOL
  17. Yep the actual fruit. 100% coconut and nothing else. You can drink the water and scoop out the actual fruit and it is soooooo good. All you have to do is stick a straw or a spoon in it. It tastes particularly awesome right after a workout. I get it at Whole Foods. I've seen them at lots of different health food stores. I recommended it to a friend...
  18. Hi - You could have Celiac Disease or gluten intolerance (both mean you would need to follow a strict gluten-free diet). However, gluten does cause inflamation in the body, so even if you don't have celiac disease or a gluten intolerance, you may find that a gluten-free diet helps with your pain. My mom suffers from a severe back and shoulder injury, so...
  19. I don't know if this would really be considered a comfort food....but one of my favorite foods these days is young coconut. It satisfies an ice cream craving...but it's gluten, dairy, soy, corn, etc. etc. etc. free. It's comforting...and energizing...and all you need is a spoon and a straw (and well, I'd recommend buying the ones that already have the top...
  20. What are the foods you can't have? If you let us know I bet someone here knows of something.
  21. I like the Food for Life sprouted corn tortillas. Make sure you heat them up first. They're pretty good.
  22. I love Earth Balance. Love love love it!...but lately I've been reacting to it. I notice soy protein is listed as an ingredient. Has that always been the case, or is this something new....becuase if they randomly added soy protein...grr... . I know it's always had soy oil, which I was fine with, but the protein just doesn't like me. I had always...
  23. Didn't you eat some wheat cereal or something? Could that be what got you? (Sorry I don't think I read that whole thread so I could be missing something). But could you have had a delayed reaction to that? Sometimes when I eat something I'm intolerant to, I don't react right away to that specific food. Instead, I start reacting randomly to foods that...
  24. I started making those cookies after reading about them here too ....but I only add a tiny bit of sugar (maybe 1/4 cup) and then some chocolate chips. Yum!
