ARCHIVED Mannatech?
Cheri A replied to Cheri A's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I had to laugh at the last statement!! That's so true!! It's hard to tell the tone of posts when you read them. I hope that those of questioning Gentleheart's position with Mannatech are being nice. She is simply providing us information that I ASKED for. For those of you that are questioning the SCIENCE of Mannatech... do you have any proven... -
ARCHIVED Going To Minnesota, Need Places To Eat!
Cheri A replied to ptkds's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
That's a great link, Lisa. I learned of a few new restaurants to try. I live in a 'burb of Minneapolis. We have eaten at Chili's, Outback, Timberlodge and Wendy's successfully with my dd. Besides Wendy's, it would be expensive to eat all meals out! Will you have access to a kitchen? There is a Whole Foods and a Trader Joes in Minneapolis... -
ARCHIVED Miracle Workers Advice Needed
Cheri A replied to gfgypsyqueen's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
ITA! I feel the same way!! We are also at the point where conventional medicine doesn't work for all aspects of Carleigh's allergies so we have sought alternative treatment for getting to the root of the issues and not just throwing steroids and drugs to treat the symptoms of the allergies. ((HUGS)) for all that you are going through. I don't... -
ARCHIVED Hydrogenated Oil And gluten-free Baking
Cheri A replied to NewGFMom's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I am doing my best to get partially hydrogenated anything out of my house. I also us Spectrum shortening to grease my bread pans and for cookies. Margarine seemed to spread and not work in those for me. My dd is also dairy free so butter is out for us. I would try the things that you'd like to with the butter and then try Spectrum if it doesn't work... -
ARCHIVED Mannatech?
Cheri A replied to Cheri A's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am so glad to see the activity on this thread now Gentleheart, thank you for continuing to be informative! I, personally, am very interested in all that I am reading and learning about glyconutrients. I also value everyone else's experiences and that's why I asked. -
ARCHIVED Going Crazy
Cheri A replied to natalie's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi... I'm so sorry that this happened to you. I agree with what everyone else has said. I would be really hurt if I were in your shoes and feel the same way. The way that your family handled that was wrong. They had to know that when you eventually found out that it would hurt your feelings. Kind of stupid for an adult to be that way about cake! I... -
ARCHIVED Ups And Downs With Diet
Cheri A replied to Ridgewalker's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
((Sarah)) ~ I know it's hard!! What are your 6 year old's symptoms? With my dd, she was so sick and feeling badly that even though she really missed her favorites, it was a great motivator to give those things up because she felt better. The bread and crackers really don't taste the same, so maybe give them some gluten-free pretzels instead. Hope they... -

I see that there have been a few people viewing, but no comments yet. Here is a link, if the board gods will let me, of some more information. Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Casein Free "ice" Cream?
Cheri A replied to Glutenfreefamily's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
We use Vance's Dari-Free and have made an "ice cream" from that that is pretty good. For store bought, Carleigh likes the Tofutti Vanilla (which does have some soy that she seems to tolerate on occasion). Mostly, though, I make sorbet here at home for us. -
ARCHIVED Mannatech?
Cheri A posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My mom is in town visiting us and has been looking into the Mannatech products. She's brought some CDs and reading materials for me to look into. I was just wondering if anyone else has looked into these glyco-nutrients? Are they gluten-free? -
ARCHIVED Itchy Rash - Need Ideas
Cheri A replied to gfgypsyqueen's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Try putting her in a lukewarm bath with some epsom salt in it. My dd asks for that when she is itchy, itchy. The cream is burning because of all the scratching that she's doing Another thing that may help is give her some relief is benadryl. -
ARCHIVED Ups And Downs With Diet
Cheri A replied to Ridgewalker's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Sarah ~ I PM'd the recipe to you. You should have gotten and email and be able to get it. If not, let me know. You're so lucky to live in such beautiful country!! If I had a choice of where to live, I'd be near you!! -

ARCHIVED Gluten Free For Vacation In Fl
Cheri A replied to Tova's mom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I used to LIVE in Deerfield Beach FL!! My family lives just south of there. There is a Whole Foods Market in Fort Lauderdale, which is south of Deerfield. That is where I bought what we needed that wasn't at the local grocery store. Also, you MUST eat at Pizza Fusion there in Deerfield Beach. They have gluten-free pizza. They do have a website... -
ARCHIVED Does Being A Parent Not Mean Anything To Some?
Cheri A replied to blueeyedmanda's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Aww, I'm sad to read of your sister's situation. I'm so glad that she's got a plan and a supportive family. She definitely needs to run not walk away from that jerk!! I had a friend that was in the same situation many years ago. Unfortunately for her, she endured years of that before she finally realized that he was never going to change! Even though... -
ARCHIVED Can Being Glutened Cause Horrible Problems Passing Gas?
Cheri A replied to Dianne W.'s topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
That does happen to my dd. When she was younger, she would cry and cry about her tummy until she either passed the gas or had a BM. Since eliminating the gluten, she rarely has problems like that. When she does, we always start looking for a glutening. -
ARCHIVED Ups And Downs With Diet
Cheri A replied to Ridgewalker's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
So true what Jenny said about grieving for the lost food. I cried for weeks when we got the news that she was allergic to wheat. Then I did what every mama does ~ figure out what else she could eat and adapt. For those first few weeks, she ate tostitos and apples for breakfast, lol! -
I'm going to go find the website for a gluten-free bakery that opened around here and post it for you to look at and get the # at. Maybe you could call and talk to the owners and find out a little info from them. We drove about 45 minutes one Saturday to check it out. Carleigh liked their stuff, but she likes mine too. If it were closer, I would definitely...

ARCHIVED Ups And Downs With Diet
Cheri A replied to Ridgewalker's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hang in there. It's good that he's accepting some things. When my dd first went gluten-free, we just went with all the basic stuff that's gluten-free - meat, fruit, veggies. She kind of needed to "forget" what bread, pasta, pretzels tasted like. Then we added it back in and she is doing great. She still gets the majority of her food from meat, fruit... -
ARCHIVED How Long Does It Take?
Cheri A replied to a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It was the same for my dd. Going gluten-free ended the belly pain, vomitting, constipation and "d". It was kind of the last puzzle piece for her. Sounds like there is still something missing or going on for dd. ((Hugs)) -
Lisa ~ I'm so glad that Hazel is done with the tubes and may be going home. She'll feel so much better in her own environment too! We will continue to pray for her health.
