ARCHIVED Soft Dough Pretzel Recipe
Cheri A replied to Glutenfreefamily's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
OK, Carleigh is enjoying them right now with mustard. I couldn't get them to make shapes, but I made sticks out of them. They weren't "pretty", but she likes them. If anyone would like the recipe, I'd be happy to PM it to you. -
Was just checking in to see if there was an update... Miss Hazel and all of you will continue to be in our prayers. ((hugs))

ARCHIVED Soft Dough Pretzel Recipe
Cheri A replied to Glutenfreefamily's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Bummer that the recipe didn't work! I have a recipe in a cookbook by Cybele Pascal in The Whole Foods Allergy Cookbook. I've been wanting to try it, but just haven't. I'll try to make it and report back. Think I have all the ingredients! -
((hugs and prayers for her and your family))

ARCHIVED Allergist Vs. Naturopath = Conflicting Advise
Cheri A replied to Cornell's Mom's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
((hugs)) I've been where you are! My dd has suffered since she was a baby with eczema. You can see the list of allergies in my signature. She would scratch herself bloody and complained about her tummy hurting when she was old enough to talk. I switched allergists several times and the last one did not want to test her for anything further and told me... -
We have also taken my dd to Olive Garden twice and had no problems either. Ironic because I would have never even inquired about it, but DH and DS were wanting to eat there so HE called. Carleigh had grilled chicken and steamed broccoli. They also made her a separate salad bowl.

ARCHIVED On Martha Stewart Today (may 30) They're Baking Glutenfree (and Other Things Free Too)
Cheri A replied to mamatide's topic in Publications & Publicity
I tuned into the last 10 minutes or so of the show. I wondered what she was rambling about canola oil for?! The brownie cupcakes looked amazing. The cinnamon bread didn't "look" that great to me . I went to the website and printed off the recipes to try. Did you mamatide? -
ARCHIVED Help Me Name My Baby!

Angie, I like the way Annika Marie sounds best and also because it is your middle name. My grandmother's name was Imogene. You don't hear that too often! -
ARCHIVED Gluten, Dairy And Sugar Free Cake
Cheri A replied to momandgirls's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
This is not a cake, but a brownie recipe. I came in at the last few minutes of Martha Stewart's show today and the founder of Babycakes Bakery in NY was on making a recipe called cinnamon toasties. I looked on-line and found the recipe for that and a brownie recipe. They are both gluten, dairy and egg free. It calls for sugar or agave nectar. Open... -

ARCHIVED You Know You Are Having A Bad Day When......
Cheri A replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
OMGosh! I just about sprayed my coffee all over the 'puter screen with that one!! ROFLMBO! Once, when my son was about 2 years old, he got into a NEW bag of flour while I was in the bathroom. I had flour ALL over my kitchen and trailed into the living room and hallway. We called him flour-boy for months after that. I was spitting mad at the time... -
ARCHIVED How Do You Handle Birthday Parties?
Cheri A replied to johalex's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I also send something only for my child. When she was younger, I would stay to make sure that she got it without being contaminated. Now I send it in a backpack/purse thing and SHE gets it for herself to avoid cc. Mostly, it's pizza and she chooses cookies as a treat. Still haven't found a cake that she likes. -
ARCHIVED Advantages & Disadvantages Of A 504 Plan?
Cheri A replied to gfgypsyqueen's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I thought about a 504 plan for my dd when she entered school, but figured I would try it without unless it seemed that they were not accomodating my dd to my satisfaction. The K teacher was not very good, but Carleigh was smart enough not to take food from her. The school nurse, cafeteria lady and principal are all excellent. The first and second grade... -
ARCHIVED 5th Grade Band, Revisited
Cheri A replied to lonewolf's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Congrats!!! I just signed my ds up for summer band. He'll be in 5th grade next school year and is going to play the French Horn. -
I agree with everyone else... as psawyer said, make sure to rinse the quinoa very well though. I usually cook in chicken broth and then add sauteed veggies. I've also put black eyed peas into it and cheese.

ARCHIVED So Frustrated With School
Cheri A replied to Nic's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Some teachers are better than others about this kind of thing. Unfortunately, if you don't have to deal with it all the time, then it is easy to "forget". My dd's teacher has been pretty good about letting us know what food is going to be served. We pretty much stress "separate but equal" to Carleigh. I would *prefer* to provide her food and know it's... -
ARCHIVED American Idol Fans?

ARCHIVED Dd's Appt W/ The Gi Today. . .
Cheri A replied to ptkds's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Good for you for standing up to the dr.! Maybe you should think about finding another dr. I have gone to several different allergists here. The last one I switched from did not want to test my dd for any more allergies and had the gall to tell me that it looked like it bothered me more than her! She had bloody, oozing eczema and was up several times... -
ARCHIVED Soft Pretzels

ARCHIVED All Purpose Flour Recipe...please!
Cheri A replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
The flour blend that I use the most is modified from Carol Fenster: 1 1/2 c. sorghum flour, 1 1/2 c. potato starch, 1 1/2 c. tapioca starch I use it for cookies and muffin recipes. For the bread recipe that I make, I do not pre-mix that blend. Good luck finding a blend that works for you!! -
