ARCHIVED Diva Cup Question
Cheri A replied to jnclelland's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Bummer. I think I'd contact the company too. I've only used it one cycle so far. I did have to trim the stem because it was bothering me. But, once I did that, it was fine. -
Oh, how fun to be thinking of baby names!! My kids both have family names as their middle names. I agree that Gunther Henry does sound a bit big for a little guy. But, I really think that "Gunny" is cute. Are there any other names that might tie in better? You could also call him Henry.

ARCHIVED Packing Lunches For School For Picky Eaters
Cheri A replied to a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Great lunches yesterday.. looks like carrots and dip was popular I like the microwave idea too! I'm going to check into that for Carleigh. She has Enjoy Life cookies in her party stash at school. But she told me that she is tired of them and would like something else. I may send in a box of Kettle Korn, if there is a microwave that can be wiped... -
ARCHIVED Packing Lunches For School For Picky Eaters
Cheri A replied to a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yes ~ I have cried in the grocery store, and also been really ticked as I watch people just pile their carts without seeming to think about what they are picking. In addition to being gluten-free, she also has other allergies to watch for. I *love* the menu system of the kids ordering from each category for the next day! I think I'm going to do that... -

((hugs)) to both of you! I agree with the other posters about asking them what they would like to eat and having them help. It may just be that they are tired of what is being sent. It took me a long time to find a bread that Carleigh liked and when I did, she ate tons of it. The last couple of weeks, I was throwing away her sandwiches. She told... -
Ok, I got my Diva Cup and am wearing it. I wish I would have bought one last year when I first heard of it! It's so much more comfortable. It took me a few times to get the hang of it, but I really like it. Another benefit is that I don't have to worry about my dog getting into the bathroom garbage! Ewwww, yuck!

ARCHIVED American Idol Fans?
Cheri A replied to blueeyedmanda's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I agree Guhlia! I missed the guys so I'm looking forward to the show tonight to see the snippets. None of my IRL friends are watching Idol so it's fun to come here to discuss it for me too! -
Nothing to do with celiac, just her preference! (She'll eat them cooked in something, but not raw

ARCHIVED American Idol Fans?
Cheri A replied to blueeyedmanda's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
hmm.. I must have missed that. We tivo'd and just watched it this weekend. I'll have to go back and see. I am very disappointed in last night. But this is the first time I've ever watched from the auditions on through. I usually don't even start watching until the top 12 are picked. -
Thanks for the info, Kathy! 12 years?!? WOW! Dessa ~ that is why I decided to try the Diva Cup. It was a combination of not wanting to use chemically saturated tampons and pads and then filling up the landfill. I am glad that you all found the link helpful!! Mine should be here soon. I'm *almost* excited to get my period to try it out, lol...

My DH and son wanted to eat at Olive Garden yesterday. I would have never attempted to eat there, but DH called the manager and was comfortable enough to try it. Upon arriving, it was a bit unnerving because the hostess didn't know what a Gluten-Free menu was. But then DH said that we had called and talked to **** and would he please come out. From then...

I replaced my nasty teflon last summer with stainless and I *love* it. I did for the same reasons as the previous posters. I haven't had anything stick to badly at all. And no worries now about what is leeching into our food.

ARCHIVED Overwhelmed With Gluten Free Food & Prices
Cheri A replied to Disney323's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
((HUGS)) I will echo what the others have said. When dd first went gluten-free, I spent about $100/mo just on things for her at the local health food store. She has a lot of other food allergies, so out of necessity I had to find recipes to make things from scratch. Now, I make a ton of things and stock my freezer with chicken nuggets, pizza crust and... -

Wow.. an Idol thread... I love that show!! I really like LaKisha too. I don't have a favorite for the guys yet. -
Wow...interesting thread and timing. I heard about the Diva Cup about a year ago, but was chicken to try it. I am finally ready to try this and ordered one this week (period due next week). The one I ordered is actually re-usable and its SAYS not messy. The girls I know who use it say it's not messy either. Same concept, but a little different...

ARCHIVED Muffin Or Bread Recipes Using Egg Whites Or Egg Replacer?
Cheri A replied to Anonymousgurl's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
We are dairy and egg free around here. I have not used a bread machine so I can't answer to that. Our favorite banana muffin recipe comes from www.savorypalate.com You can substitute water, or juice for milk. I occasionally use the Ener-G egg replacer, but most of the time I use 1 1/2T oil, 1 1 1/2T water mixed with 1tsp. baking powder ... -

ARCHIVED Omg The Mess I Made!
Cheri A replied to TinkerbellSwt's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
((HUGS)) for the no good, horrible baking day yesterday! I can definitely relate! Hope that it goes better this time! I have yet to make the other bread, but the bread that I make for Carleigh took me a while to get perfected. Now it comes out beautiful and she loves the taste. I preheat my oven to 200 and then turn it off for the bread to rise.... -
ARCHIVED General Bread Questions
Cheri A replied to misoman's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
LM ~ did you ever get in contact with Twin Valley Mills? I am going to need to buy some more sorghum flour soon. You may be able to find tapioca starch at your regular grocery stores also, if they have an asian section. There is one of my local stores, Cub Foods, that carries little bags of tapioca starch for .59. So, for $1.18, I can get the... -
