  1. I found that when we first went gluten free, that she needed to give up bread for awhile to "forget" what it tasted like. Now it's no problem, though I have to bake it once/twice a week cuz the store brands don't work for us. So for that interim, she did like Carol Fenster's banana bread at www.savorypalate.com I made a lot of that!! We mainly...
  2. Hi everyone ~ We live in MN but will be going over the Hayward WI in early August for a cabin vacation. Is there a restaurant there that is good about catering to allergies and celiac? Any great stores I should go to? Thanks!
  3. I am so glad to read an update on Tiana.. she continues to be in my prayers. I am so glad that she is getting better. I agree with the others that you should be able bring her some extra stuff in or have more input as to her meals.
  4. 'Morning Tanya and everyone else I am so happy to read that you are back home! And to hear how well you are able to work with the staff! Continuing prayers here that you both had a good nights sleep and that today is a good day for you. Rhonda ~ I'm so interested in reading your posts on the sulfites. I don't see that we have any problems with...
  5. Checking in to see if there was any news from Tanya... saying a prayer for you, Megan and all the doctors, nurses, nutritionists that you come into contact with today..
  6. Congrats Liz!! We have a pizza crust that we like a lot, but I'll have to compare and maybe try yours!
  7. ((Andrea)) ~ first of all hugs! My dd is 7 years old and is allergic to rice. We found out last Fall when every meal she would get hives. After allergy testing, we found out wheat and rice. Celiac testing was inconclusive and going gluten-free helped tremendously with the stomach troubles and elimination troubles. Take rice entirely out of her diet...
  8. My dd got very sick on the Vans Wheat Free Waffles.. I couldn't figure it out. I have some Lifestream Buckwheat ones to try now though.
  9. ((Tanya and Megan)) ~ I am sorry that she is back at Vandy but hopeful that they will see what you are dealing with at home during the night.. I'm praying for you, the doctors and nurses that are in contact with you. Wish I was closer to help you too!! Rhonda ~ thanx for taking the time to post all of that. I am SO sick of reading of all the crap...
  10. ((Tanya)) ~ I also agree that I check on here for your updates and want to know how Meg and you are doing. hugs and prayers!!!
  11. Sue ~ my dd is dairy free too. Try to find Vance's Dairy Free at your health food store. It's powdered and works great as a milk sub for baking and as a creamer. For the butter ~ we use Crystal Farms margarine (threw out the box) but they one that is dairy free sticks. There is also Earth's Balance in a tub at the hfs.
  12. ((Tanya)) ~ I'm so glad that you were able to take her to see her great grandparents! The blue lips sound very scary, but I'm happy that she got better when you got her home. Marked my calendar too for the surgery!!
  13. Lynda ~ my dd can't have rice either and I always sub sorghum flour for rice flour in any recipe on a 1:1 basis. I really like the Incredible, Edible cookbook too
  14. I had that problem w/the sinking in the middle and a soggy bottom a few times that it was doughy. I have a couple of tips: I switched to mini-loaf pans and recently to the size between regular and minis and it worked great. I also found a different bread recipe that seemed to work better for me. www.twinvalleymills.com I also read somewhere...
  15. I actually found a set of loaf pans in between the regular size and the minis at my grocery store. It was the good chef brand.
  16. Glad that it went well for him. I hope that the results come back as you want!!
  17. Yay!! Glad that it went so well AND that she gained weight! What an answer to prayer! Tanya ~ I hope that you do get to go see another space shuttle launch before it's discontinued. My boys came home today and they are still on cloud nine after their experience with the whole thing. They have amazing pictures and yesterday got to eat lunch with an...
  18. Up early in MN and praying for you, Tanya, for your trip, for wisdom for the drs, and for little Megan as she has the scope done today.
  19. Can you tell me if all her flour blends are rice? I have to sub everything with sorghum and would rather not fork out another $15 on a cookbook that won't work for us. Maybe I can email her? I agree on not posting the recipe here, though, without her permission. I posted a recipe once (and gave credit) and then the next week it was on this site's newsletter...
  20. How do you know that the bottled water is better than normal tap water? I saw a 20/20 or such show that tested a bunch of the well known waters, store brand waters etc and they really weren't any better for you than tap waters...
  21. T ~ my guys were elated!! DH just really, really wanted our son to experience that before the shuttle program is discontinued. He is so crazy about astronauts, space and such. Glad that your hubby still has a job! Very interesting about all the flouride/ine talk... I have no idea about any of that either. Going to stick my head in the sand too...
  22. I'm SO excited... have NASA tv on and watching the clock on-line. Keeping fingers and toes crossed that the shuttle goes off and has a safe lift-off, journey and landing
  23. Wow Tanya ~ very interesting! I am glad that your dh will have Wed off! I just talked to my boys and they are on their way to get in. I pray it does go off today! If not, though, they have had a great time at the Cape and learned a lot. Good father-son bonding time I hope that you and the kids have a great day today and that Meg is feeling well...
