  1. Thanks for posting about this...maybe we will try Red Robin sometime.
  2. We, also, have a manager come to our table. A few weeks ago, the manager at Buffalo Wild Wings told me to always ask for a manager b/c they are trained as line chefs and will go back and actually cook the food for us themselves. The 3 times we've eaten there, this same manager always is there and comes back around just after the food is delivered to assure...
  3. ROFLMBO! Yeah, I remember the regular flour days.. for us it was only 5 mos. ago!! When I go getting all happy at what has worked and tell my friends, they get that "glazed over" look!
  4. Yummy scalloped potato recipes!! Thanks ladies!! I will try this with the leftover ham after Easter! Carrie ~ where do you find the McCormick bouillon? I have looked at both my grocery stores in the soup and the baking aise/where the condiments are and cannot find them. I've been making my own chicken broth and freezing it, but it lacks the flavor...
  5. Good to know!! I have finally found a bread recipe that my dd likes that is for the oven. Someday, maybe I'll also make the plunge and get a bread machine. It sure would save time and mess, that's for sure.
  6. I can't use many of the pre-mix stuff so this is the recipe that I just tried w/my dd that I found on another site.. 1 egg (or sub - I used 1 1/2T water, 1 1/2T oil, 1 tsp. baking powder mixed) 1 c. gluten-free flour blend 3/4 c. liquid (I used Vance's Dari Free) 1/Tbsp. sugar 2 Tbsp oil 1 Tbsp baking powder dash salt Mix and cook as usual....

    ARCHIVED Melting Pot

Oh, this makes me so sad... The Melting Pot is my dh and I's favorite restaurant to 'splurge' at for special occasions. I hope they become more aware and allergy friendly by the time I'd ever want to take my daughter there.
  8. I also use Bob's Red Mill sorghum flour, potato starch and tapioca starch that I blend together myself. We are quite limited in what we can use and haven't seen any problems w/those 3 packages yet. I have looked longingly at the premix stuff/packaged things that we cannot have. Mart ~ I'd love the link to your flours and the cookie recipe too.
  9. That's wonderful that your friends and church are being so accomodating!! I wish I knew more people IRL whose kids had allergies so we could band together for a girl scout troop or something. All the food flying is one of hte reasonsthat I have kept my dd out of scouts.
  10. In all of my grocery stores, it's near the jello. Little box like them labelled Knox Unflavored Gelatin.
  11. I'm pretty new to this whole gluten-free baking but everything I've read is that the xanthan gum is essential to it. I do have a few recipes that have the gelatin in it also. Sorry I'm not much more help.
  12. I'm SO glad that you all enjoyed them....I'm going to try this cake soon too!!
  13. Wow.. never knew that you could keep salted butter out of the frig! Hmm..
  14. I have found and bought Ener-G brand xanthan gum in my HFS. That's the only brand they carry. At my store, it's near all th flours. It costs a lot, but lasts a while cuz you only use a tsp or two at a time. Another ingredient that I seem to see often is unflavored gelatin ~ I've used it in both cookies and bread. I found that near the jello in the...
  15. OK ~ here's the original recipe from allrecipes.com Like I said, I haven't made it gluten-free yet so I don't know how it would turn out. Maybe I'll try this this week, though. ~~SOURDOUGH BREAD~~ 1 cup sourdough starter 1 1/2 cups warm water 1 1/2 teaspoons salt 1/2 cup white sugar 1/2 cup corn oil 6 cups bread flour ---------...
  16. Wow..thanks for sharing that article.. very interesting and informing. along with avoiding all the things in my sig, I have recently been paying more attention to trans-fat and HFCS. We don't eat much of either due to the allergies, but I have been paying more attention. What brand butter do you all use and how do you get it "spreadable". After...
  17. Oh, thank you Jessica!! I'm so glad I just read this thread!! I was just reading about making a pizza w/chopped spinach and some cream of mushroom soup! I will make my own!!
  18. They just turned the Shakopee store into a Super Center not too long ago. I do go in there occasionally if I'm at Sams Club or the Michaels in the same area but it's already yucky.
  19. I found some Lucky Charms that were safe in the big box. The smaller box said wheat starch. Does anyone eat Lucky Charms? They were ok for my dd.
  20. ChesE ~ thanx so much for this link! What fun to look @ all they have!! I saw somewhere else someone making homemade "twinkies". I was thinking that would be fun to make sometime if I could find a pan.
  21. I have a sourdough recipe that my family loved that doesn't have milk, egg or cheese in it, but I haven't tried it since going gluten-free with my daughter. But it's not really a "true sourdough" either. Are you looking for a true sourdough recipe? It's fed w/potato flakes, sugar, water.
  22. Thanks mamaw! I love this idea and my dd loves spinach!! I'll have have to try it if I can find a safe mushroom soup. Hey Vincent ~ I can't use the premade crusts b/c of egg and rice but I found one that is really easy to make. It's at Carol Fenster's site... Open Original Shared Link I use the oil/water/bp as the egg replacer. Your son would...
  23. Sorry that happened to you, Becky!! I'm glad to know that info on the vitamins too. I'm not ready to jump to Wal-Mart though... hard to find any english speaking employees at any of the ones I've been in. The stores feel "dirty and old" to me too.
  24. Aww, bummer Vincent! I'll 2nd the vote for the Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips... top 8 free! And I just made cookies using Spectrum Shortening instead of margarine last night.
  25. Vincent ~ the Zyrtec is time released so that it lasts for a longer amount of time. Benadryl is to be used for a quick allergic reaction (like what you described). Also, my dd used to be on zyrtec chewables until I found out they had lactose in them. Check out the 2 websites I found for you... Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link...
