ARCHIVED Yummy Choc Chip Cookies
Cheri A replied to mookie03's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Ok, I tried again tonight and used a slightly different recipe that called for Egg Replacer (Ener-G) instead of the eggs. It worked... they came out like real cookies!! So, for my fellow egg-less bakers, if you try this recipe use Ener-G egg replacer to replace the egg and a bit of extra water also. -
ARCHIVED Non-soy Non-dairy Milks? Whats Safe?
Cheri A replied to VydorScope's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The 365 brand is not just being repackaged ~ something about the oils is being changed so it's not going to be safe for peanut-allergic anymore. If you can't find a good alternative that you like, I HIGHLY recommend Vance's Dari-Free potato milk. WF does not carry it, but it is very good! Open Original Shared Link I think. -
Oh, great idea!! Viola, glad you like the cinnamon/sugar idea....I may make that tonight. Ended up trying chocolate chip cookies again last night - tasted good, baked not like a cookie should

ARCHIVED Yummy Choc Chip Cookies
Cheri A replied to mookie03's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Ok, I tried these cookies again tonight and used the recipe posted by Linda ~~ the kids like them, but they just don't have the regular "cookie consistency". The taste is good. It must be the fact that I cannot use "egg". Next time, I'm making them as a bar cookie! -

Cheri A replied to Ruth's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Wow! Yummy!! Adding Peppermint Extract to my grocery list right now!! -
Liz ~ Here is the recipe I adapted from www.savorypalate.com I put her original parts in () It is really easy. Pizza Crust 1 tablespoon dry yeast 2/3 cup sorghum flour (2/3 cup brown rice flour or garbanzo/fava bean flour*) 1/2 cup tapioca flour 2 teaspoons xanthan gum* 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon unflavored gelatin powder (Knox...

I was also wondering if the arrowroot would work - I have heard of it as a sub for cornstarch and potato starch but not tried it. I tried the flour blend that Linda mentioned but we didn't like the corn flour in it so I just increased the tapioca starch by 1/2c. and that's the blend I use the most. Is almond flour heavy? I thought you needed one...

ARCHIVED Ian's Allergen Free Line
Cheri A replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My daughter doesn't like the chicken nuggets, but does like the fish sticks. So, I buy those occasionally. I found a great recipe for chicken nuggets that I have been making on weekends as I have time and then freezing them in individual sizes for the "fast food nights". I deep fry them in canola oil. I'll share the recipe if anyone is interested... -

Cheri A replied to angel-jd1's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I like www.allrecipes.com I recently saw that you can search for gluten-free, but I haven't tried any of those yet. I also have success w/the pizza crust, banana bread/muffins from www.savorypalate.com This one is Carol Fenster's so everything is wheat-free. Have to think if I have any more... -
Sounds great! I make my own crust for Carleigh cuz we can't do the pre-made ones. But, how about dessert pizza w/cinnamon sugar and melted margarine?

ARCHIVED L'il Critters Gummy Vites!
Cheri A replied to VydorScope's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm so psyched!! I found these vitamins at Sams Club! A big bottle for a reasonable price!! I can't wait to give them to her tommorrow. We don't do anything new during the week in case of problems. Anyone have a calcium recommendation - something NOT cultured on dairy? -

ARCHIVED Anyone Know If The E-nergy Egg Replacement
Cheri A replied to danikali's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Dani ~ another great egg replacer is 1 1/2T oil, 1 1/2T water and 1 tsp. baking powder mixed together. I have liked this much better than the Energ-G.
