  1. I really like Pamela's (recommended from people on this site). DH really likes their stuff too (and he isn't gluten free). He said that it doesn't taste gluten free at all.
  2. I had some problems with my ILs when I first found out I was gluten intolerant. It got even worse when I found out my kids were also gluten intolerant. I just told them that they can't have gluten because it could make them sick and that was that. If someone said something rude to me, I just ignored them. I think they saw they weren't going to get a reaction...
  3. I tried one flavor of the Enjoy Life cookies and they were gross! I swear they tasted like sweet playdoh. I keep hearing everyone rave about them here, so I decided to try them. I tried warming them up, but that didn't help either. Thankfully my son liked them, so it wasnt' a total waste.
  4. I also love Trader Joe's pasta.....and it isn't that expensive. I buy 2-3 bags of the Penne everytime I am there. It is so yummy!
  5. I found this site after googling "Celiac Disease". My mom mentioned I might have it since I was having chronic diarrhea. I think she might have it too, but she doesn't seem to want to get tested (not that testing always works).
  6. My kids are pretty good eaters, but my son would not touch a veggie for a long time (and he is only 3 so he just started eating veggies recently). It would bother me, but I decided not to make a big deal out of it. I just kept offering him veggies and he kept feeding them to the dog (she loves veggies). Finally he started eating carrots. And then (6 months...
  7. That was a pretty good article. And I am going to check out their restuarant. I wonder if they have a gluten free menu. Ok....I just googled the restuarant and they do have a gluten free menu! I am so happy I have been looking for an Italian restaurant with a gluten free menu in our area! I know the kids will be happy too.
  8. I posted a while back about Trader Joes having labeled Puffins as gluten free when they aren't. I know one kind is gluten free (Honey rice I think.....DS loves this cereal), but they don't even sell that flavor there. I told the manager about it and he thanked me and told me he would look into it. I go to Trader Joes yesterday and they still have the sign...
  9. My mom orders it from a company (Intergrative Theraputics, Inc.), but I'm not sure if you could order directly from that company (she is a Chiropractor). You could check out the website (www.nfformula.com). It is called RF Plus. Good luck! I hope it works for you.
  10. My mom orders this for me. I guess it is supposed to soothe your GI system. I will ask her where she gets it from.
  11. I don't know, but that sounds like a lot of water to drink in one day. The recommendation used to be 8 8oz glasses of water a day (which would be 64oz), but now doctors are saying that might be too much. I would try to slowly cut back on water and see how you feel. I would also try to drink something with electrolytes (such as gatorade). And ask your...
  12. Along with taking more Calcium, I would also take extra Magnesium and Vit D (or get a little more sun if you don't get enough). I think someone already suggested this. Personally I would continue bfing, but I think that is something you should talk about with your doctor.
  13. My son (3 also) doesn't have a problem staying asleep (he might wake up once a night), but he has problems going to sleep. Sometimes he won't go to sleep until 11. I am exhausted because I don't really get to relax and he is crabby all day from not sleeping enough. I don't really have any advice, but I just wanted to let you know you aren't alone with...
  14. I am another cold-blooded person. I can't stand the winter months. I don't mind the snow so much (I don't love it either), but the extreme cold (0 or less) is what I hate. My husband thinks I'm nuts because I have to always have a sweater on in the winter and even use a blanket when I'm sitting on the couch. My mom thinks I should have my thyroid tested...
  15. I was just wondering if anyone else has darker stools when glutened. Mine have never been light....they actually were a lot darker before going gluten free. And a lot of the time they don't float (sometimes they do though), but actually sink to the bottom of the toilet and stick there (hard to flush). I still feel a little strange talking about my BMs...
  16. Thanks everyone! I will buy some gluten free rice milk this weekend. He drinks rice milk and soy milk at my mom's house and doesn't know it isn't cow's milk. He did have a solid BM yesterday (which didn't really smell as bad as normal) which I was happy about (the funny things people with gluten intolerance get happy about ). And his behavior has improved...
  17. I know....it really hurts when the one who should be the most supportive give you the most problems. I was proud of MIL yesterday because she grabbed regular crackers away from DS before he could eat one. I think they might be a bit defensive because many of them have health problems and don't want to change their diets (diabetes (type 1 and 2) runs on...
  18. The kids have been gluten free for about 2 weeks now. In a way it is easier with DD because she knows to ask before eating things. DS doesn't know to ask (he is 3) and ate gluten a couple of times when I wasn't looking. Once was at my mom's house because she had regular crackers on her table and he grabbed one. I didn't notice until he took a bite. Next...
  19. I went on a gluten binge one weekend about 2 months after going gluten free. I felt fine at first and thought maybe this gluten intolerance was all in my head (like some people told me). On Sunday I had the worse gas pains. I thought something was wrong with me until I realized it was gas. Just because you don't have an immediate reaction doesn't mean...
  20. I know how it feels to have unsupportive inlaws. They even act like I am doing something that is harming the children. I think my kids will survive without gluten filled cookies . I am getting so sick it of it that I feel like crying sometimes. It is hard enough to be gluten intolerant, but having people be mean about it makes it even harder. Dh even...
  21. My DD was really upset the first week of her diagnosis (it has only been about 2 weeks now). She kept talking about all the stuff she couldn't have anymore. I kept reminding her that most of the stuff had gluten free substitute. She is feeling a little better about things now. We made some gluten free cupcakes (with Pamela's chocolate cake mix) and she...
  22. I was talking about people who don't have serious problems, but still the chiropractor has them sign a contract for the next year or so. And won't treat patients unless they sign the contract and pay up front. It makes sense for you to pay up front since you will be saving money. My mom also gives breaks to people if they don't have insurance or she knows...
  23. Well that is what they are! It is kind of strange to hear people talking about poop on national tv. I think it is a good thing they are talking about it though. If people aren't having normal bms then something else is going on. Many people don't know what a normal bm is though. I agree that we should try to contact Dr. Oz. He will probably listen...
  24. I am also already thinking about Thanksgiving. I don't really want to have a bunch of people at my house (I'm in school right now and that is just too stressful), but I don't trust having someone else cook for me and the kids. I am thinking about having an early dinner at my house and then going to someone else's house for dessert (with gluten free goodies...
  25. My mom is a Chiropractor and tells me about things other Chiropractors do that she thinks is wrong. Some places will make you sign a contract that says you have to come in so many times and pay the money up front. No Chiropractor will know how often you will have to come in a week for the next six months. My mom tells people they should come in more often...
