  1. He doesn't sound too small to me since he is still in the 43rd percentile. If you want to fatten him up a little, I have some ideas since I have used a lot of them with my son (he was below 5th percentile at his last appointment). I sometimes put a little olive oil or flax seed oil in his applesauce. I don't know if your son would like flax seed, but...
  2. I know what you mean. Luckily right now I am a stay at home mom. I have easy access to a private bathroom. And I usually don't have stomach problems in the evenings when I am at school. That is so strange because I am ALWAYS cold. I am still learning what I can and cannot eat, so I don't know if the constant coldness will go away after being...
  3. I had tonsil problems my whole life. I got strep throat over and over again and it won't go away. I had to take anti-biotics numerous times. Now my tonsils have been swollen for years. Doctors can't figure out what is the problem. I sure it is from wheat. I read a couple of places that swollen tonsils are a sign of food allergies.
  4. My mom doesn't have Celiac and that happened to her. She went to India where they don't eat a lot of wheat products (at least the part she was in). After a couple of weeks of not eating wheat she got IBS like symptoms when she did. I keep telling her that she should get tested for Celiac/wheat intolerance, but she doesn't seem to want to. I think she...
  5. Thanks! I didn't know that. I like the raw stuff the best, but my kids like the california rolls. Is there a brand of imitation crab meat that doesn't have wheat? I could always ask the restaurant what kind they use....or even bring my own. It seems weird to bring your own food to a restaurant, but if it helps us from being sick....
  6. There are Cod Liver oil pills you can take if you don't like the taste. I buy them for the kids because they love them (they like to chew them). You could also try to get a little more sun which is the way your body makes Vit D. I don't know if you have dark skin or not, but I have heard that peole with dark skin have more problems with Vit D deficiency...
  7. I am one of those people who thinks that milk isn't good for you in large quantities. Unfortunately I love it . I am thinking about giving it up to see if that could cause a problem on top of the gluten. Soy milk isn't bad in coffee, but I just can't stand it in cereal. I rather just give up cereal. My DD isn't crazy about milk and only has it with...
  8. I have read in quite a few dog books that most of them are allergic to wheat (and corn). I'm not sure if they meant intolerant, but I guess dogs (and cats) aren't supposed to eat wheat or corn. I buy dog food for my dog that is both corn and wheat free. She doesn't really seem to like it too much (but will eat it when she is hungry), but she has always...
  9. I was wondering about this recently. I'm not too crazy about Chinese, but I love Thai and Vietnamese. I ate at a Thai restaurant last Sat and felt really bloated after...I'm sure there was soy sauce in the food. Even if I ask for no soy sauce (and bring my own) could the other ingredients have wheat (or soy sauce) in them? And would it be tacky to ask...
  10. The only instant symptom I get after eating something with gluten is bloating (looks like I am pregnant) and then I start to feel really full. I don't get D until the next day. I still have a little D some days even when I don't eat gluten because I am still healing (it has only been a couple of weeks), but it isn't as bad as when I eat something with gluten...
  11. I love my children and their beautiful brown eyes. I love my DH and that he tries to buy gluten free food for me (even though he isn't always successful) I love my dog even though she gets fur all over everything! I love going to school even though I can't wait to graduate. I love that I found this board! I love that I am starting to feel better...
  12. I'm surprised that your doctor told you that you shouldn't hold off on gluten containing foods. I know that people who have allergies (or they run in the family) are told to hold off on certain things (such as peanuts and wheat) until their children are older (usually around age 2). Is gluten intolerance different? Wouldn't holding off on introducing gluten...
  13. I hated it as a child. I remember my parents making it and the smell would make me sick. Now I love it. I don't know why I didn't like it then...maybe it was the smell of the cabbage
  14. Very interesting. My eyelashes have always been very long. My DS also has very long eyelashes and the biggest brown eyes. He is the one I am more worried about, between my two kids, having Celiac. I also have problems wearing sunglasses because my eyelashes hit them. It can get very annoying. My nails used to be horrible. I would also have those dents...
  15. I went to the doctor yesterday and he said my blood test was negative. He said he would refer me to a GI specialist if I wanted, but I don't really want to start eating gluten again for any more tests. He said that I could just continue with the gluten free diet for another month and then see how I feel. I have been gluten free for a couple weeks now and...
  16. Mmmm...those sound very yummy! I'm going to make those sometime soon. You can't go wrong with peanut butter and chocolate chips
  17. Mmmmm....fish tacos are yummy!
  18. Thanks for sharing! I love the Kung Pao chicken there.
  19. Thanks for everyone's replies. I'm sure my MIL will come around....it is just frustrating. It helps to know that other people have gone through the same thing.
  20. I still haven't got the results back from my blood test (I will on Wed), but I have decided to give up gluten for a while to see how I feel. I am in college right now and I just can't handle the brain fog. Well I told my MIL about it because she asked (otherwise I wouldn't have said a thing). I don't know why but she seems more upset about it than me....
  21. I bought the Van's and yes they did fall apart more than normal waffles. I tried to do what I did with normal waffles....put butter and jelly on them. They tasted so gross that I could hardly eat them (they were really dry). Next time I tried them with lots of syrup and they were pretty good. I know the syrup isn't as healthy as jelly, but since I am...
  22. My pain usually feels like it is in my intestines....like they are irritated or something. I also would get stomach pains if I ate a lot of bread.
  23. One thing that I didn't think would have gluten in it was my children's fruit snacks. I know that they are basically junk food anyway....I just didn't expect them to have gluten in them. And of course I keep on forgeting and then pop one in my mouth
  24. I have only been on this diet for about a week and it at first seemed much harder. Now that I am feeling better, I don't really miss eating things with gluten. Yesterday I ate something that was in a flour tortilla (on purpose to see how I felt) and I felt sooo bloated after. I didn't have any D, but the bloating was bad enough. I like cooking and make...
  25. I have just recently started eating gluten free foods. One brand I like is Thai Kitchen...I pretty sure it is gluten free since it says so in bold letters on the box. They make stuff like Pad Thai which is pretty good and pretty easy to make. I like to spice mine up a little bit though . My kids really like it too. I can usually find it at regular stores...
