  1. I was bf for about 2 years. My mom stopped because she was pregnant with my brother. DD was bf for 2 months. DS is over 3 years old and still bfs once every week or so. I thought he was weaned because he didn't ask to bf for weeks, but this past week he started asking again. He has a couple of bottles of formula when he was a baby, but he didn't...
  2. I saw the Wife Swap with the people who ate raw meat. I don't mind eating raw meat. I have never had raw chicken or pork (and don't think I would like to), but I have had raw fish and beef. The thing that grossed me out was their aged meat. They had what looked like moldy meat in containers and they kept saying how it was supposed to calm you down. It...
  3. I just wonder if there is a pill for Celiacs if doctors will all of a sudden become more knowledgeable about Celiac Disease/gluten intolerance. I think the reason doctors don't know more about it is because there is no drug for Celiac disease. My friend works in a doctors office and she said there are drug reps coming in all the time with food for the staff...
  4. I used to love peanut butter and butter on toasted whole wheat bread. It is funny that I don't even crave this stuff anymore after being gluten free for a while. I normally don't even buy gluten free bread anymore.
  5. TJ's taquitos are really good! My DD got sick of them though because she was taking them for lunch almost every day. I think there is a brand that is sold at Costco that is gluten free. I don't remember the name of the brand though.
  6. I had an eye tick that last for a few months and then went away right before going gluten free. I was really annoying. I hope yours goes away soon!
  7. We all have dark circles under our eyes. I have noticed that DS's and my dark circle have started to go away after going gluten free.
  8. I took DS to the doctor a couple of weeks ago and he gained 3 lbs since last time he was there (sometime in late Sept or early Oct). He even went up a few percentiles in height and weight. The doctor even said that he was starting to fill out (his legs are a little thicker). I have noticed that his clothes are starting to get small on him. And DD...
  9. Woo Hoo! I know how happy you feel. I was just about to post my son's weight gain success after being on the gluten free diet. Doesn't it make you happy that this was caught early enough in time for our kids to grow more?
  10. My son's GI doctor told me that the blood tests were almost 100% accurate. I haven't found any data to back that claim up. She wanted me to do a endoscopy on him, but I just don't feel it is necessary. I decided to keep him on a gluten free diet and he has gain 3 lbs in the last 3 months. He jumped a couple of percentiles in height and weight, so I know...
  11. I also have a feeling that my DH has some kind of gluten intolerance. He denys that he has any stomach problems. After being married to someone for a while you start to notice things. Like he will go to the bathroom 3-4 times some days. And he has light colored loose stools. And he also has really dark circles under his eyes. He thinks it is normal...
  12. Ghirardelli is a U.S. made product. They are better than hersheys, but I think Lindt is much better.
  13. I agree it is a choice, but it is a choice to live a healthy live (and for some a choice between life and death). My DD's grandmother has diabetes, but still chooses to eat unhealthy food and not exercise. And then she complains about how bad her diabetes is (between drinking 5 glasses of coke in one sitting). I agree with everything Fiddle-Faddle said...
  14. At the lab my son was tested at, anything under 5 was considered "normal". His tests were 3, so they said he wasn't gluten intolerant. I went through Enterolab and his tests came back positive. I agree that you should have a biopsy of the DH. I think that is more reliable than the blood tests. If the tests come back positive for DH then he is gluten...
  15. Mmmmmm...everything sounds so yummy. Now Dh is saying he isn't totally sure about having a party (we don't have a HUGE tv), but I want to have one just for the food. I'm going to try to make that 7-layer dip. It sounds really good. I am making refried beans for DD birthday party. I could use the leftovers for the dip. If I don't make it for Superbowl...
  16. I'm not a football fan, but DH and his family like it. So since the Bears are going to the Superbowl (and we live in Chicago), we are having a Superbowl party for the first time. Is anyone else having a Superbowl party and what are you serving? I was thinking of making chicken wings and nachos, but I don't know what else. DD's birthday party is the day...
  17. I didn't know there were peanut butters that weren't gluten free Does any one know which ones aren't safe?
  18. The Van's are ok with tons of butter and syrup, but like someone else said cardboard would taste good with lots of syrup. I like the Trader Joe's waffles much better and they are much cheaper. I eat them with jelly or peanut butter on them. I try not to buy waffles too often because I don't think they are that good for you (especially if you have to put...
  19. None of the people who I know that are Gluten intolerant have red hair. That doesn't mean that red heads aren't more likely to have gluten intolerant. I just don't know any that are.
  20. I like Tinkyada, but I also like the Trader Joe's brand of brown rice pasta. I think it is actually better than Tinkyada. I think it is cheaper also.
  21. I'm the same way. I never had a flat butt and never will. People always tell me I never need to lose weight because my stomach is pretty flat, but what about my big butt? I'm not overweight, but I would like to lose a couple of pounds in the thigh/butt area.
  22. This is how my son looks. He is looking better now that he is gluten free. His legs are starting to fatten up a little bit and his belly isn't as big as before.
  23. - no more IBS symptoms - not as much gas - more energy - no more leg cramps - no more insomnia - less reflux (unless I get glutened....then I get it worse than before) - dark undereye circles going awy - don't have to pee as often - no more naps during the day - period and cramps aren't as bad as before - skin not as ichy in the winter
  24. I have subed apple sauce for some of the oil in cakes. Does anyone know if you can do this with breads also?
  25. Both my son and I had the blood tests and they both came back negative. I know I have gluten intolerance because I went gluten free about a year ago and now feel 100 times better. I tested both of my kids through Enterolab and both their tests came back positive. I don't know if anyone else in my family is gluten intolerant because none of them will get...
