    ARCHIVED Dr. Guandalini?

Angel, can you tell me more about Dr. Eli Ehrenpreis? My parents live in the Northern suburbs, and their doctor doesn't listen to them and writes prescriptions like he's giving out Hallowe'en candy ("here, have another one!"). My mom may very well have some kind of gluten issue, but would probably not consider it to be a possibility. Anyway, is the "Adult...
  3. I've never had problems with their stuff. but then again, I don't have obvious reactions to gluten, so I'm not a good one to comment. I suggest, though, that since so many people here have had bad reactions, you do a search on this board for all the "Glutened by Amy's" threads (I can remember more than one), and bring them to your meeting. Good luck!
  4. (Cinderella, singing outside the photo kiosk): "Someday, my prints will come...."
  5. Ah. Do you have a group of friends in nursing school that you study with? Might you be able to do little practice "performances" for them? Or maybe for family or other friends? I see this sort of performance anxiety in music students (I'm a violinist, in case you couldn't guess by my screen name), AND in professionals. Some of the professionals...
  6. I didn't mean to imply that just because every woman had these issues, that yours were not severe! I was just wondering if ALL women would have improved time-of-the-month issues if they went off gluten. I guess I'm trying to force the shoe to fit everyone....
  7. Interesting discussion! My question is, doesn't every woman get some kind of tummy discomfort/digestive difficulty around her period? Seems to me , back in college, the whole dorm complained of that sort of thing. I never had the PMS, only intense craving for chocolate right before my period an huge mushy stools the first two days of my period. Also...
  8. Would it be getting too personal to ask what is CAUSING so much stress? Seems to me that that should be the place to start. Of course, not being able to sleep is an awfully vicious circle--you start the day exhausted and unable to deal with the little things that normally don't phase you, and then they keep you up at night so you can't sleep, and then you...
  9. I don't have anything officially helpful to contribute, but just wanted to say I'm sorry you're being hit by a rough patch, and I hope that sending you positive energy and "good vibes" helps. Take a deep breath. Blow away all the stress. Take another deep breath--this one has all the good stuff I'm sending! {{{{{{{{Hugs}}}}}}}} P.S. You can...
  10. Thanks so much for posting this--these shakes are also good on-the-go instant mini-lunches! I had given up reading labels on power bars and shakes--sounds like the manufacturers are finally starting to notice us!!!!
  11. Thanks for clearing that up! Sounds to me like Kraft's cross-contamination warnings are much more than CYA statements and should be taken very seriously.
  12. Wow, it does sound like you have found some good doctors! Hooray! You are quite right--I did not address your original question about gluten challenge. Sorry! I had very few symptoms of gluten intolerance--decades of no problems whatsoever, and then slowly increasingly frequent bloating, and alternating mildly loose stools and mild constipation...
  13. Well done, Liz!! Some teachers seem to forget about the importance of the enjoyment factor for the kids, don't they! You might still be able to get some of the University students to come; even if they don't receive official college credit for helping you, they can put it down on their resumes as teaching experience. And members of community orchestras...
  14. Lisa and psawyer, I respectfully disagree with you. If you kill this post, you might as well tell everybody not to pass on any information they have heard until it is published in the Lancet, and that anecdotal evidence is not allowed here. So those who are diagnosed by dietary response would not be allowed, as that is anecdoatl evidence. Perhaps the...
  15. I wonder if it would work to take a gluten-free "yellow cake" recipe and just use the dry ingredients instead of the cake mix? Or does a boxed yellow cake mix contain shortening? At any rate, that sounds WAY too good.......I'm getting hungry.....
  16. Follow-up care meaning what--medicine? Celiac disease doesn't HAVE any medications, nor does it require any? Family testing? They can try the gluten-free diet and see if their tummy aches go away. The diet is not only a valid diagnostic tool, for most people, it is more accurate than the biopsy. You CAN have celiac disease/gluten intolerance and NOT...
  17. Isn't it amazing how so many usually nice people can just flock around a leader-type--whether the leader-tyupe is nice or Nasty--and just FOLLOW? Did you ever see the movie "Heathers?" (At least, I think that's what it was called--with Winona Ryder.)
  18. Why would a biopsy on an already-healed intestine make you SURE? If his bloodwork is positive and he had an overwhelmingly positive response to the diet, what are you going to do if the biopsy is negative? Put him back on gluten? Most of us here already know that the biopsy is not, as the doctors were taught, the gold standard, but merely a hit-or...
  19. Sure it would be nice if she mellowed out a bit. But for all we know, maybe she is just not a mellow person to start with, and how she was treated here did not help. Continuing to criticize her is still not helping. You guys just can't keep baiting someone and then complain when that person explodes.
  20. To be honest, I AM interested in hearing what Srokie posts about Dr. Saviano and what she has to say.
  21. YES!!! Many people who have been diagnosed with Lyme never even knew they'd been bit, and half never had the supposedly tell-tale bull's-eye rash, either. As you probably know, there is a lot of symptomatic crossover between fibromyalgia and Lyme, too. Please look for and pm Lymetoo, Rachel--24, dlp252, carlab, and there are probably a bunch of others...
  22. Scott, I really do understand your point about helping others by breaking this information down into smaller, more focused threads. You are right--and you are wrong. You are right in that it would definitely help others to be able to more easily find the information Rachel and others are coming up with. You are wrong in thinking that we can or...
  23. We need a drooling emoticon!!!!!!!
  24. Bree, I am so glad things are finally going better! I know you don't have time or energy to waste on lawsuits, but I hope the state brings some kind of action on your behalf against that accusing doctor. Someone like that should not be allowed to be near people ever again!
  25. Thank you so much, everybody!
