  1. Shirley, that looks AMAZING--and so easy! Thanks for posting it!!!!!!!
  2. I have tried Bob's Red Milll, which is somewhat gritty, Hodgson Mill, which is VERY grittty, and Authentic Foods, which is superfine like cornstarch, but at $4 a pound, I don't want to get it anymore if I don't have to!
  3. Wow, that looks great!! Have you tried their brown rice flour? I noticed that have two different kinds--I wonder if either of them is the superfine-grind that eliminates all the grittiness? I do like Authentic Foods brand, but the price is just ridiculous--$11.99 for 3 pounds, on the Authentic Foods website. Anyway, thanks for posting this--it's great...
  4. I do agree with you , Tiffany. When employers EXPECT you to show up unless you are on your deathbed, you are pretty much stuck showing up or losing your job. But in the meantime--everyone else gets your germs, and you get theirs. Then again, if you have kids, you've pretty much been exposed to all the germs, anyway. For those of us who make our living...
  5. Yes, yes, but you have to be willing to wake up to use the vacuum cleaner in the first place! Now--if we coudl just train the cats to do the vacuuming, everyone would be happy!
  6. Like I said before, there may be some kind of geographical part to the equation. It might be related that I am in some kind of autism beltway here. One woman I know said that there are 10 kids ON HER STREET ALONE diagnosed with autism. I don't know if we all go to the same doctor, got the same batch of vaccines, or live near the same power lines. There...
  7. All the cats I've ever had are quite capable of scratching at the door, yowling, or even throwing themselves at the door--all guaranteed to wake up anyone inside!
  8. Ursu Major, do you have a link about arthritis and nightshades? Thanks!
  9. Lisa, you're back!! How is the wrist? And the black poop?
  10. They can easily do this (and they will do it is you request it)--all they need is a blood draw to do a titre. One complication is that, just because your immune system doesn't make antibodies, that doesn't mean you will get the disease. I don't understand the mechanism here, but I know a pediatric nurse who has never had chicken pox. As a pediatric...
  11. I have been wading through the links provided by Ursa (it's quite time-consuming), and this one, from the BBC, caught my eye--it's a transcript from a radio talk show, with a a pediatrician answering questions about vaccines: "Samantha Robinson, Camberley, Surrey: Both my sons (aged 5 and 3) have had the MMR vaccine with no ill-effects. My 5 year-old...
  12. YOU ARE A WONDERFUL MOTHER!!!! You might copy your first post and send it to both the store and the manufacturer, and let them know how easy it is to make a mistake. Surely they would want to avoid lawsuits in the future....
  13. I'm so glad you said this--I have exactly the same problem!!!!!!
  14. Sinenox, I do think that people who don't want children should NOT have them! If you don't want children, don't get pregnant! (Or, if you are a guy, don't get someone else pregnant!) But people who WANT to be parents (that is different from wanting to have children, the way I see it), whether by pregnancy or by adoption, SHOULD be parents. Adoption...
  15. Good point! I believe ginger has antiviral properties, too.
  16. Shirley, are you saying that people who do not get the flu shot should not go out??? Or did you mean that people who are coming down with an illness should not go to a nursing home? This would be the ideal solution, but impossible to implement, as you are contagious BEFORE you have symptoms. Senior homes, like hospitals, are hotbeds of infections of every...
  17. Richard, I did NOT say that there are no people hospitalized by flu. What I did say is that I have never met anyone who was--and I work in such close proximity with 100 people, we all know when one of our colleagues is hospitalized and why. The same goes for my husband's workplace, as well as the parents of the other children at our children's schools,...
  18. You mention "symptoms off and on." Does this mean that his diet may have sometimes been heavy on gluten and sometimes "gluten-lite?" Or even gluten-free? Was he gluten-free at the time of the bloodwork? That would account for all the negative results. Of course, false negatives are possible, and more common in children.
  19. When he turns 3, you might consider signing him up for Suzuki violin lessons. It is very different from traditional violin lessons. The kids learn to play by ear, way before they learn to read music (just as we learn to speak language before we learn to read it), and they are given a celiac disease (of really pretty, and easy songs played by a great violinist...
  20. I just received this: Dear Alison I will be sure that your comments are passed on to our management team. Sincerely, Ellen Courtney Spaghetti Warehouse Let's hope for the best!
  21. Well, he is 8 years old, and has had a lot of speech therapy. He didn't speak at all for at least 2 years, maybe 3--I'm not sure because my brother and sister-and-law didn't think there was a problem at first and really delayed any kind of testing. Things weren't helped by the fact that the nanny who took care of him while his parents were at work basically...
  22. I gave you 5 stars darn it!

  23. My nephew was diagnosed with apraxia of speech. Is that what you are talking about?
  24. (Note: the "gluten-free" menu Ms. Courtney sent only contained salad (with gluten-containing ingredients removed, grilled chicken, and grilled steak. That was it.) > COMMENTS: > Hi! I am a previous happy customer who has recently been diagnosed with celiac > disease, which means I cannot have anything made with wheat or any other gluten...
  25. Probably the same reason millions of people get vaccines and are fine--and the hundreds of thousand of people who react are hastily brushed aside--just like celiacs and Lymies!
