ARCHIVED My Unusual Symptoms
daffadilly replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My Irish/ English family all have DQ1 from both sides, DQ1 is well known to cause neurological symptoms, such as depression, migraines, ADHD, ADD, Dyslexia, bad moods, unexplained anger, paranoia, etc etc. all of which either goes away or is helped with a Gluten Free diet. Don't forget that we all have the same genes for celaic and/or gluten intolerance... -
ARCHIVED My Unusual Symptoms
daffadilly replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Kathy Ann, I see that Mayflower has a DQ1 gene, us DQ1'ers are a little emotional and trigger happy, but basically we have a good heart, I think that DQ1 comes from the Irish... LOL -
ARCHIVED My Unusual Symptoms
daffadilly replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I think any kids reading any of these medical support threads are aware that poop has different consistencies I do not think that there is any way to protect children from the fact that people have poop and it is not always perfect -
ARCHIVED My Unusual Symptoms
daffadilly replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Kathy Ann, I have had that tightness in my chest & throat for the past two weeks, from being exposed to dry wall dust at my office for about 5 minutes, then I went to another floor for the day & I got a headache etc. Then a week later I am back in my office and some of the walls are painted but not all & within ONE HOUR, I was dizzy, pounding... -
ARCHIVED Forgot About The Tupperware
daffadilly replied to Gamecreature's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
these posts are interesting on two counts one reason not mentioned yet. I do not use tupperware to freeze anything in. I do not want to be eating food that has melted plastic on it. I also refuse to heat anything up in the microwave in a styrofoam container. I freeze all my dinners and left overs in glass pyrex containers that have plastic lids on them... -
ARCHIVED What Vegetable Are Easy To Digest & Cause The Least D?
daffadilly replied to Anne AMP's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
another vote for ditch the beef, it is too hard to digest & you could be allergic... no colas, no artificial sugar - unless diabetic, no canola oil, no grains, no legumes, no gluten-free manufactured stuff... try some baked sweet potatoes, homemade jello, 100% grape juice - diluted, tuna fish if you can handle it, rice - if you have no problem with... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Stored In The Fat And Tissues?

ARCHIVED Gluten Stored In The Fat And Tissues?
daffadilly replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I think the amount of time that it takes you to get well is tied to the amount of processed replacement grains that you are eating. If you only replaced the gluten in your diet with non gluten grains, although you are totally gluten-free, it is my opinion that those grains are cross contaminated and also that some people cannot tolerate them even if they... -
clean dishes are okay, it is just the things that are porous, like non stick cookware, wooden spoons, and wooden cutting boards, or plastic ones that are all scratched up etc.

Some of the Boars Head meats in the deli case will say gluten free right on the wrapping

ARCHIVED I Had A Bone Density Test Today
daffadilly replied to txnmaryann's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Beaglemania, your aunt probably does have celiac. she should have her genes tested at Enterolab and also the gluten sensitivity test. So many people fall thru the cracks on diagnosis, with negative blood tests. My opinion is that a negative blood test cannot rule out celiac. You can only rule it in with a positive blood test, there is a big difference... -
ARCHIVED Boderline
daffadilly replied to JASON's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
If you have a sister with Celiac your chances are greatly increased that you could have celiac. Do you have symptoms? You can get a gene test thru Enterolab & they also test for gluten sensitivity & dairy & I think a couple of other things. I highly recommend them if you want any additional proof for yourself. each person has to make that... -
ARCHIVED Now What?

ARCHIVED Gluten Free......should I Be Feeling Better By Now?
daffadilly replied to kasia's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
If you have done all the other things suggested plus are definitely taking a B12 everyday, I suggest eating thing like applesauce, boiling some chicken and add some cabbage & carrots to make a easy to digest soup, eat organic if you can, eat things that you know you tolerate well, baked sweet potatoes are good - just add a little brown sugar instead of... -
ARCHIVED How/where Do I Find...? Is It Necessary..?
daffadilly replied to Creative-Soul's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
re gluten free products: for newbies you are better off eating very little of that stuff, if any, until you are healed somewhat & feeling really good, so that you can tell if a new product makes you sick. Some of us me, at 60, do better with no grains. I eat a little rice and corn in white corn tortillas as a bread replacement. I recommend Lundberg... -
ARCHIVED What Is Wrong With Me?
daffadilly replied to SaraLynn's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Please consider giving up ALL dairy. Also eating out at the beginning is very risky, did you know that if you order a grilled chicken breast that not only could it be cross contaminted on the grill & cutting board, but that almost all restaurants coat the chicken with a grill base - yep it all contains gluten, because gluten tastes good !!! also you... -

ARCHIVED I've Been Through Enough...help!
daffadilly replied to blracing's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
An unexplained pain in the side is a common complaint, it will/should go away on a gluten-free diet. The plant lady at my office had a pain in her side & like you had all kinds of tests... She was outraged about all the money it had cost her & bad health, because once she went gluten-free the pain went away, she started sleeping all night &... -

Re Candy Corn - I am sure it was the Brachs brand, they do not list gluten on the label but it will all make you sick. They hide gluten in the products. DO NOT BUY ANY BRACHS CANDY it will all make you sick. And welcome, happy you are feeling better! -
Jenny, you can get sick from someone with wheaty hands touching your keyboard. It has happened to me several times. The computer repair guy was here & yep then I was sitting at the computer eating a snack & ZAP... Then there was the time I took my scrapping supplies to a weekend crop that I was teaching & the only thing they ate all weekend...

Jenny, get your sister in law the book "Dangerous Grains" it is a paperback about $11.00 on amazon .com. I have learned that all you need to do it hand them the book - if they read it, you are home free... If she is willing to read then maybe her closed mind is not totally lost I am so darn sensitive you could just call me the gluten canary, I can...

ARCHIVED How Can I Help My Husband Understand?
daffadilly replied to hannahsue01's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hannahsue - it seems to me that your husband has serious problems, he is never going to "get anything" you need to refocus your attention to yourself and away from him, actually I think you should get well, get out, & get a better life. Call your local woman's support group, you are being abused, yelling is abuse -
