  1. For a first tasting of avocado may I suggest cooked chicken pieces, slices of avocado, cheese (cheddar, or the white Mexican. Colby jack or a mix of all) some hot sauce, on crisped corn tortillas. If you don't like it hidden in there, I doubt you will like them. There are so many spins on guacamole, that really is not a great way to decide if you like...
  2. Ordering on-line works for some. If you are ordering on-line there are some ways to earn some cash back from different programs. I can earn points by getting others to sign up, but I won't put up my information on-line for anyone to see. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link You click through the site, and then to a participating store...
  3. I you stay with the Amazon store and your purchase is high enough (It was $25 minimum) then you qualified for super saver shipping. Pay attention to the actual store and put your order together using actual Amazon stores and your shipping should not be that high. Since I live in a more rural area it saves me time and money to just gluten free shop on-line...
  4. Don't forget you can switch it up and use rice as a stuffing alternative.
  5. I just saw a recipe online for the Kronut. (coissant/ doughnut) It had no eggs in the recipe and called for bread flour. I think most gluten free flour blends end up being a bit denser. Huge drawbacks for me..... It takes more than a day to make theses (12 hour chill/proof time on the first day), and deep frying these, very vague about finishing glaze...
  6. I think the answer might be right there. ANEMIA can cause the light headedness and the queasy stomach. Are you bruising easy? Try to get more iron rich foods.
  7. On my daughter's report after her endoscopy with biopsy there were still signs of gastritis. She had the testing done to monitor the Celiac and Eosinophilic Esophagitis damage. Like I said the main reasons for having the testing done for eosinophil activity and the gastritis was not even mentioned by the doctor. I read it in the report.
  8. individual hummus cups fruity pebbles cereal bars fruit by the foot gushers chocolate covered raisins nature valley peanut butter, dark chocolate protein bars most Jell-O pudding cups or gel cups, Kozy Shack, and same with the Snack pack non refridgerated puddings fruit cups (peaches, mixed fruit cocktail) lunch meat (Boar's Head) cheese slices for...
  9. Hand, foot, mouth usually doesn't have such a body trunk rash. The rash is usually just like the name~ in the mouth, and hands and feet. I had it when I was pregnant with my second, and at the same time with my 3 year old. It can hurt to eat, so I would suggest splurging on popsicles and Slurpees.
  10. Well it is a learning experience. Your husband will see that "little bit" does affect him. Like it was posted you can make your own chocolate covered pretzels or by pre-made. Glutino makes awesome chocolate or yoghurt covered pretzels. Rest up! At least this was a chance to get a break from school.
  11. Glad you found a diagnoses! Poor kiddo hand, foot, mouth is no fun at all.
  12. Taking more of an interest in making gluten free, safe food can be a way of owning Celiac. You have a feeling of success when you produce your own cure. The hard work improves the appetite too! I grated those carrots by hand ya know. If anyone knows where I can BUY gluten free, egg free carrot cake ~ let me know. I understand wanting instant gratification...
  13. Enjoy life also caters to allergen free above and beyond gluten. They have recently "tweeked" some products and really improved them! I tried the improved soft chocolate chip cookies, and I will eat them again if I don't have time to make some.
  14. Needing to be gluten free and fish, shellfish, egg, and pea free turned us into "foodies". Search out the foods you can eat and go from there. Hummus is my daughter's favorite. It is used on some of her sandwiches since she can't have mayo (eggs). We look for things that look interesting and try and make it at home. (Why by caramel when you can...
  15. Well you spelled out DH the way I was going to spell it! Really stupid odd thing, right now I have a rash. (lacey on the body trunk, not itchy, and facial cheeks are very red) I went in to make sure it wasn't Strep, and it's going on my chart as "non-specific".
  16. I chickened out on trying to spell out DH. It has been called the "sister disease" for Celiac. If a DH patient has an endoscopy with biopsy, the same Celiac damage is found in the small intestine. I couldn't see the picture very clearly and honest to God I have a hard time looking at a sick little one. It just tears my heart out. Get to an experienced...
  17. Unfortunately the childhood illness schedule has varied rashes. These viruses like roseola, fifth's disease, measles, german measle's, rubella, and sometimes just undetermined virus produce a rash. You may be brushed off about Celiac testing and testing is still not as accurate for patients under 24 months. Make sure if the Celiac blood panel is drawn...
  18. We just tried a local Olive Garden. YUCK. It was with a large party and our food came cold (and gluten free noodles were hard and dry) Stick to the salad, with no croutons. My son had the salmon and enjoyed it. Could have been this location.
  19. The poster started the challenge and the little one is having Celiac symptoms again. (The symptoms are not life threatening for the moment. If her child gets seriously ill, I'm sure she will get to the hospital quick as lightening.) This is from a parent that did have to hospitalize my daughter for dehydration from the gluten challenge. The scope...
  20. Avoid oats right now. You should only get certified gluten free oats, but sometime the protein chain is too close to gluten. Give your little one options which gluten free option would you like? Pack a emergency stash at school of "party treat" and snacks for the teacher to keep at school.
  21. Everyone can have different symptom for reactions. (It sounds like a reaction to me.) What exact reaction would have to be diagnosed by a doctor. We really support each other for gluten free information, but generally if something bothers you don't eat it. Sorghum is gluten free, but some people don't tolerate it well. You can do a challenge in...
  22. You are doing great! Like so many have said calm done and relax. Start trying to enjoy your food preparations so it's not an ordeal or stressfull. It is still family time. Now I do have to share that Ban Sweet Surrender deodorant made me sick. (Didn't believe it was possible. I assure you I do not like armpits. Noticed it had barley as an ingredient...
  23. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your little one. Get a copy of the pathology report from the endoscopy with biopsy and take notice of the eosinophil count. (if it was even ordered.~ eosinophils are detected by the use of red dye on the cells and the pathologists only does the test if it's ordered.)
  24. You do know that barley is also gluten, right? There are plenty of things that could be the potential problem. A lot of the potential issues can be ruled out by an endoscopy with biopsy. This is the really crappy part, you have to eat the crap that bothers you so the testing can pick up on the damage and diagnose your problem. Grrrr. You are stuck...
