  1. I ate them about 3 months ago. They were chocolate (maybe some peanut butter) with a lot of powdered sugar, I can't remember what the flavor was listed as. I had a small handfull and put them out for guests at a party. I did not get sick and I try to read labels all the time (especially with something that I don't usually eat).
  2. Some of the Bugles flavors do not contain gluten. They are not labeled "gluten free".
  3. I think there is a conection. Barret's esophagus and eosinophilic esophagitus seem to be active in for local people with Celiac in the area I live in. My daughter was diagnosed with EE 3 years ago. We have managed Eosinophilic Esophagitus very well with avoiding food "triggers". It was not easy determining what these triggers were because allergy testing...
  4. We had a Cairn Terrier that LOVED everyone. Children could pull her hair out, she brought "gifts" to guests at the door, and on and on. She growled at 3 people in her life. These people had undiagnosed cancer at the time. Furry friends pick up on so much more than we do. We should let our pets have "say" in who their doctor is!
  5. Gluten is in breastmilk. So are a mother's antibodies. I'm not a doctor but I do believe to breastfeed is the best you can do. Try going gluten free to not pass gluten or antibodies to gluten to your baby. If you are getting tested for Celiac you have to consume gluten for testing to be accurate. So just know you could be shutting the door on your...
  6. I have used recipes that use rice milk and vinegar for a buttermilk substitute. ration is 1 cup of rice milk to 1 tespoon vinegar.
  7. It's hard to tell, you recently challenged gluten for the blood work. You should get the iron levels. I really think iron supplementation should be monitored by a doctor. Some things are hitting the red flag for me with my daughter's Eosinophilic Esophagitus. (This also has a seasonal timing so add the weather into the food journal ~ airborn allergy counts...
  8. Is your "picky eater" getting scoped? It sounds like she has multiple food sensitivities to me. Does she eat slow? Keep a food journal. Sometimes PICA (iron defiency) symptoms can seem like a "picky eater". Especially in young kids. Does she chew food and then spit it out? By the way eggs are in the high reaction allergen, avocados are not as likely...
  9. I suggest Tom Sawyer gluten free flour mix. It has gelatin in it, which can help a gluten-free cookie hold its shape. The other place to consider is the fat to flour ratio. It can be an issue of the temperature of the fat, like someone said. Slighty chilled but room temperature butter is the way to go for most cookie recipes. I've got 4H kids too...
  10. Not a teenager, but sometimes parents do have some information that helps. My kids were missing so much school it really wasn't fair at all. To be handed a stack of make-up work with no directions, no *special notes (like skip this question because it is way too hard, and you haven't been taught the skills to solve it), and what is a reasonable amount...
  11. ohhh. that you for the home made creme fraiche tip! I think the roasted red pepper tomato soup, potato soup could fit into my kids palate. My daughter has Eosinophilic Esophagitus too and we have an even more allergens to avoid. Oddest thing is peas!!? She has a harder time with higher proteins.
  12. Kids are very resilient. The damage seems to be very mild (compared to many cases we discuss here). There are so many factors. How well is the individual sticking to the diet? Is the immune system being challenged by other illnesses? How did his nutrient levels look? Make sure the B12 and iron levels are looking good. Concentrate on healthy meals...
  13. I know you want relief as fast as possible.
  14. Yes it is safe for for the 7 day cure. Slow and steady can win the battle without having really bad cramping.
  15. Best to keep the choices simple for my children's palates. Don't get me started about trying to find creme fraiche! Had to drive 50 minutes one-way to get to the store to buy it.
  16. Well tell us what your favorite flavors are to tell you some gluten free choices. Do you like chocolate- caramel- fruit flavor chews- like skittles and starburst vinegar chips - kettle brand Do we need to keep your selections to casein free too? People from foreign countries are very overwhelmed by American grocery stores. You will understand...
  17. I moved out to the country and the pickings at the grocery stores are miserable! I was ordering a lot of stuff on that on-line store that shall not be named. I offered to try out some recipes for someone here's cookbook. I was soo embarassed, it was taking forever to locate ingredients. I don't think I helped her out at all. I was stuck substituting...
  18. Well I can give you my experience. My daughter was falling off the growth chart. Started gluten free diet and then had a major growth spurt. She was in the todler age bracket. Very common story for parents to see a MAJOR growth spurt once they start the gluten free diet. We had a member, celiac3270, who was in his teenage years and had a major growth...
  19. I found that I was pickier about the chocolate. Hershey's tastes like it has a lot of cheap wax in it. I switched to dark chocolate, milk chocolate is too sweet.
  20. I bought shampoo that had a recall for undeclared wheat. I used it on vacation and had huge whelts after going out on the water all day. (Not sunburned) We all seem to have different reactions.
  21. I'm gonna go out on a limb here.... Try adding some cream cheese. I don't know how big of a batch you made up to give you an amount of cream cheese to add. (3 1/2 cups of flour ~ 8 oz cream cheese ~ 1/2 cup butter ratio if that helps)
  22. That could also be gallbladder. If you are still feeling this sick you should go in to the doctor.
  23. Be glad you are renting! If you owned the place, you would be stuck there until you sold it. Happy apartment hunting! I hope you find a great place to call your own soon.
  24. I am happily married 20 years. My husband said I HAD to see this video. When I saw the posting about dating and food allergies, I couldn't resist posting it. I wish you the best of luck in your search for love. Start looking for a friend first, and remember, "You can't fix stupid."
  25. I wonder why my husband had to show me this you tube video!!?
