  1. I am so sorry for your loss. I have lost too many of my furry family members. I hope soon the your happy memories will comfort you.
  2. Yep. Everything that Ravenwoodglass posted.
  3. My daughter was glutne free for about 5 years and then she would start this vommitting cycle. It was so bad she needed to be hospitalized for dehydration. She was diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitus. Some of the top suspect disorders that an endoscopy can rule in or out.... parasite infection, physical deformatiy, hernia, H. Ployri, Eosinophils, Celiac...
  4. I had heard in past situations the CSA, Celiac Sprue Association, has collected food from various gluten free companies and helped feed the people affected. If there are any food supplies, an educated person would be able to pull out some mainstream foods that are gluten free.
  5. If they did make gluten free cookies the cost would be about $15 a box.
  6. Keeping a food journal helped find a cross-contaminated bottle of vanilla. My son was able to eat carrots without vomitting after a year on the gluten free diet. When the kids are that young they will not understand exactly why they can not have random treats that people are always offering. Keep a trade/snack bag with you. It will help transition to...
  7. 20 months old you have to even watch pet food! Check your toothpaste and hygeine problems like your hand lotion. Keep a food journal too. There can be secondary intolerances right now from the gut damage.
  8. try the gelatin for egg substitution? I have the hardest time replacing eggs.
  9. I'm sorry. I still think the doctor assumed (in error) the mothers would be more involved with their children and needed to try and explain Celiac Disease to the parent that did not accept the diagnoses.
  10. Keep a food journal. Thyroid testing, there is a correlation with the auto-immune disorders Get your vitamin and mineral levels checked. Celiacs tend to be lacking vitamin B12 and there is a connection to pernicious anemia from lack of intrinsic factor in the gut lining.
  11. The doctor is looking out for the welfare of your sons. The custodial parents (your ex-wives) are responsible for the meals the children are eating. They need to know how important the gluten free diet is. They should have been made aware that it is possible that they could even develop Celiac Disease themselves. I would have serious concerns if a child...
  12. Ohhh Snickers! I miss them soo much. My daughter was diagnosed with EE and she can't have eggs anymore. I don't have the heart to have her see them or smell it on my breathe. They were her favorites, so now I can't eat them till she's off to college. (She's 8, 10 more years to go!) So someone eat a Snickers for me! LOL
  13. The gluten free subs taste like garbage until you have let your tastebuds adjust. (about 4 months) The first time you try gluten-free bread toast or grill it. Try and stick to things that have always been gluten free. fruits and vegetables meat and potatoes salads baked potato (can be made into an entire meal just load it up) Frito corn chips most...
  14. I remember getting the book Raising our Celiac Kids by Danna Korn and a whole section was about dealing with family and friends. How some people would want you to scientifically "prove it" to them. Well sorry to break it to you like this, but sometimes you just can't make someone you care about "get it". DH/ Celiac/ gluten intolerance/ allergy/ or gluten...
  15. Substituting egg really changes the recipe. It may not work at all. There are at least 20 different substitutes for eggs and it can really change the recipe from the intent too. substituting gelatin for the egg and it is no longer vegan, if that was the intent. Gluten free egg free is really challenging for us. You lose 2 texture components. The...
  16. Eosinophilic Esophagitus also causes bad breath. Have you noticed and creamish/ white spots on your tonsils? It smells like puss. Diebetic ketosis smells like acetone (an ingredient in nail polish remover) Sinus problems, candida overgrowth, food intolerances/ GI problems, and dry mouth/dental issues can also be a factor. It is a reason to see a doctor...
  17. My blood pressure usually runs low. If I have gluten free restaurant food the same thing happens to me. My fingers will swell so quickly that I'm afraid one of theses times I will have to get the ring cut off. I do think it has to do with sodium levels.
  18. You learn how to copy your favorite gluten meals into safe gluten free meals! Start with a gluten free cookbook to figure out your favorite flour replacer. Once you have that go back to your old cookbooks and pick the recipes with the least amount of flour. I have been buying the restaurant recipe knock off books. Gluten free Bisquick has been pretty...
  19. We loved the Pamela's pancake and baking mix! Then we had more food allergies in the house and switched to Cherrybrook Farms. (egg free, can be dairy free) They taste very light and sweet and because the egg free is replaced by a chemicl reaction of sorts the batter constantly changes and you should be ready to add more liquid.
  20. I suggest "The cravings place" brownies mix.
  21. There is a connection to Autimmune Hepatitus and Celiac. You have already been diagnosed "probable Celiac" from the genetic test with GI symptoms and 2 other other auto-immune diseases. You can go for the "gold standard" diagnoses by 1. loading up on gluten 2. Celiac panel blood test and total IGA 3. Endoscopy with biopsy. There is also enough evidence...
  22. From the article description of the dosage trials, in my daughter's case the vaccine could do more harm than good. She has DQ2 and DQ8 and has been diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitus. Any time she has started vomitting it gets really bad. Hospitalization bad. Not to mention the other food restrictions and possible airborn triggers she has to avoid...
  23. Simona, Can you post the recipe for the chocolate avatar pic? Mmmmmmmm
  24. There is at least a 10 % connection of Celiac to auto-immune thyroid disease, Grave's (overactive) and Hashimoto's (early stages flip-flop overactive to underactive until the thyroid is destroyed to underactive needing thyroid medication for the rest of your life. Hashi's can be harder to diagnose. Can you get a refferal to an Endocronologist? BIOTIN...
