  1. Hi and welcome.....who at first told you that you have celiac? And, did you get the blood test after you went gluten free? Did they give you a copy of the blood test results so you can see the results for youself?
  2. what type of product is this? food, beverage or medication, etc.?
  3. This topic made me think about the glue in band-aids....what's in that? In my old age I am very, very allergic to the glue in band-aids....I am not celiac, my husband is. I can only imagine what wearing "food products" will do to skin that's sensitive to it.
  4. When you go to stationery store ask for bond paper, 24 lb. stock and get envelopes to match (unless you need to use heavyweight envelope, then don't bother with envelopes to match.
  5. wouldn't wheat sutures make you awfully itchy if you have skin reaction to wheat/gluten? Couldn't that set off an infection?
  6. Happy Birthday wishes!
  7. My suggestion is to call the manufacturer on Monday and ask if there really is dairy in it or is it just a lactose ingredient? The lactose may be dairy free source. That's if you can wait until Monday. Latcose is just a milk sugar and may or may not contain casein.
  8. I have a question to ask those who are in management who are responsible for interviewing and hiring. I can't post it here because due to the nature of the question. If anyone is available to PM me to talk I'd really appreciate it. thanks D.
  9. Hi all I don't post in this thread because I don't have anything to add or contribute as all of you have issues above and beyond celiac disease; but I do read the posts from time to time to try to keep up with things that are medical. The "fibroid-mold" connection caught my eye however as I have severe mold allergies and had early onset uterine fibroids...
  10. Hi S: Welcome to the Board! We never eat out anymore due to my husband's Celiac; but we've learned that the sacrfice is worth it as most of his symptoms have gone away, but the permanent damage is still there. Whether to eat out or not is entirely up to you and your level of confidence with the restaurant AND server. Just a suggestion: I...
  11. You have a good doctor there. Those many years ago my husband had more than one Barium GI series and it did not lead to a celiac disease diagnosis like yours did. Your experience, to us, is the exception for back then. Wow! What a good doctor! The Barium GI is useful in diagnosing other diseases I guess......
  12. just when I thought we had all the bases covered they think up wheaten clothing line.... since I am not celiac (hubby is) does that mean if I get hungry I can eat my blouse? But seriously, this is not good....the last thing we need to worry about is gluten-free clothing.
  13. ......my thoughts exactly.....the antibody blood test is just as easy as a cholesterol test...and it should and could have been done when that was drawn. Time to find another doctor. See my husband's list under my name - we speak from experience.
  14. from what I learned about message board insurance (from wanting to have a site for people in my industry) the insurance company would want to know the rules for posting and to make sure that the administrator removes offensive posts ASAP. So I can see how a whole thread could go down in a situation as described.
  15. Hi all thanks for the advices. I also know I need insurance on it (slander & libel coverage for those not so nice posts) well the deductible on that coverage alone is $25,000-$50,000. depending on site's rules. (Rice Guy, I know exactly what I want in the site. No hesitations at all, no willy-nilly from me!) But alas what I am looking at...
  16. I am going to throw this in as it's my husband's experience. When his GI did endoscopy Dr. found an ulcer in duodonum (spelling?) -- and it was not a result of the pylori bacteria. Dr. stated that he believed it was due to years and years of the misdiagnosed celiac wearing away at the lining of the small intestine. Since at the time of the endoscopy...
  17. I am not necessarily looking for free server. I am confused about one thing...if I use an intenet web designer, how do they know without sitting alongside me, how I want my site to be arranged? Isn't it best to sit down face to face with the designer? (Forgive me I am of the generation BEFORE PCs and I am playing "catch-up" with learning about them)...
  18. I have opportunity to start a website....I know nothing about no computers nor websites... My site has nothing to do with celiac or gluten; it's hobby related. Anyway, I know I have to get a company as a "server" but how do I register my site name? Don't I do that first? Should I get my idea "patented" first? I don't want anyone to steal my...
  19. Ursa: Any reply yet from J&J on the Penaten? My husband keeps looking at the cream and I keep telling him, no - can't use it yet.... Deb
  20. If rice is too mushy try reducing water by about a teaspoon and keep flame or heat lower. I purchased a "diffuser" which is a flat metal thing that goes on top of the burner. It is about an inch in height and is as round as my burner is, and has a 8 or 9 inch handle. This diffuser allows the heat to hit the bottom of saucepan more evenly and keeps the...
  21. Darling Deb-Funny you brought that up. I was thinking the same thing when I was at work a few months ago (to those who don't know, my husband has celiac I don't and I indulge in my gluten treats only at work). I was folding letters and realized my hands were crumby from cookies and I said to myself "I Hope the receipent of this letter doesn't have celiac...
  22. Rather than write a letter or note saying why you can't participate in "Donut Day" , HR should be worried that you don't lodge a complaint against the group for "hostile work environment" or "disability harrassment." I'd ignore them and let them clog their arteries. You do not need to explain yourself to anyone. Just cross your name off of that...
  23. As a result of my husband's illness and due to fact that I need to change careers, for the past few weeks I have been considering going back to school to study to be a nutritionist. This gluten-free misinformation just bothers me. My only problem is I have never gone to college and I am middle aged and I'd have to "fast track" it. And I have to get...
  24. Dessa Truly sorry for your loss of your friend. It's hard not to be angry at life, God, the world, etc. when bad stuff happens. Sometimes the anger overshadows the sorrow and perhaps that's a coping mechanism. I hope your anger fades quickly and your good memories overshadow your grief. Debbe
  25. It's not my receipe, it's from a board member who doesn't post anylonger (GFDOCTOR). I can't imagine the receipe is copyrighted or anything as gluten-free DOCTOR posted it on our board a couple of years ago.
