  1. Oil-free chocolate sounds a lot like that mockolate on the Friends episode. But, yay for cream of buckwheat! Although I do have a bone to pick with Rachael Ray when she said last Thursday that buckwheat was just another kind of wheat... peacenlove...are you really completely oil-free? That sounds a little, I don't know, like not good.
  2. Hi wowzer, Happy Easter! Ya' know, UMaine is kind of notorious for black jelly beans because of a thread on our local listserve with said subject that went on for years and up to about as many posts as the coping with thread has. The subject came to be a catch-all for any topic. Are you an alum of UMaine by any chance? Just wondering, Margaret
  3. Munchos are safe? I'll trust you larry mac. The world needs more chips!! A fan of crunchiness..
  4. Hi kgk, Welcome to the board, although it seems a little odd to be welcoming someone who has been gluten free for longer than I have. I understand your point, but it isn't that simple for everyone. I'm not BP, but have to have two quite painful shots and one not-so-painful shot every two weeks to keep me feeling better, so the link isn't always so firmly...
  5. I must be looking at the wrong things...delphi.com gives me a whole lot of technology and nothing with a gluten free product list search and delfi.com gives me choice of different countries, Norway, Denmark, Vietnam and another...? I'd love to see the list. Thanks in advance, Margaret
  6. I'm a little foodie, but what I do is slice my own root veggies with an inexpensive mandoline, deep fry them in my new inexpensive deep fryer (after years of wok-frying, but that works, too) and store them in my somewhat expensive, but oh-so-worthy vacuum-sealed container. That way, I have potato chips, sweet potato chips, something like the Terra chips...
  7. I do NOT understand this type of behavior, beyond abuse. Can someone explain it to me in a kinder, gentler way!? Margaret
  8. Good Lord, woman, you rule!!
  9. Haha, I love the shoe part, Momma Superior! We have crocus up and over a foot of snow here in Maine and I've had some poor bloke parked at the end of my driveway all day. I'm going to wait until the last possible moment to hopefully not get them towed so that I can get in to work tomorrow. I must be healed, I'm nastay! I can only imagine what Buffalo...
  10. Hi snowcoveredheart, You've got some really good advice here and it will get easier. Some people have trouble with raw fruits and veggies in the beginning and also figuring out what their specific tolerances are. What worked for me after a time of food diary and giving up dairy products (which was a real pain), was going on those spontaneous outdoor...

    ARCHIVED :(

Get mad!@ Punch your pillow out, it won't mind. Look at everyone with the gluteny-goodness with disdain! Ask questions, order pie the way you want it, shout it out to the world! Then forgive everyone, especially yourself. It will get better...

  13. Heeheehee...I've been out with non-sillyaks like that. They teach us.
  14. Hi, this is for the veterans and those in the know, I suppose. What do you use for determining that you've recovered from a bad celiac condition? Is it physiological, is it psychological, is it both and what is it? I know it takes longer for those that are older and it involves something more than just learning to ignore those Pizza Hut commercials....
  15. Thanks for the replies...I've been on a vitamin B complex for quite a while until about a month ago when I started the multivitamins, was blood-tested then and came out well as far as the B's were concerned. I also have a lot of meat in the freezer and so don't want anyone to think that I'm just going to start tomorrow as a vegan. I really believe in changing...
  16. This is from The Vegetarian Epicure Book Two, by Anna Thomas. If you want a tofu-based mayo, let me know! Along with the basic mayonnaise recipe here’s the way to do it in a blender or food processor, as well as a nearly basic variation – green mayonnaise, which is delicious on sandwiches, hard-cooked eggs, or cold cooked vegetables. 1 egg
  17. Sounds delicious! I'm a big fan of Woodchuck Draft Cider from Vermont, which has all of those ingredients and some sulfites, which may or may not give you a problem...I've yet to figure it out completely. Expensive, though, so I don't indulge that often. The granny smith varietal makes for a nice gluten-free beer substitute. Margaret
  18. I have just finished up what was left of the company food bought for an angel who is a picky "American diet" eater. No shame, no blame, but I'm just left kind of reeling. I was vegetarian before and am now wanting to eat a vegan diet. I don't know why, but animal products aren't sitting well with me. Has anyone got advice for this? I know some on the...

    ARCHIVED Six Degrees

Same here, Momma Goose. I don't watch Six Degrees, it just happened to be on, I happened to hear it and so it was a totally random snotty remark!
  20. The first time that I met a celiac was thru-hiking the AT, somewhere around Tennessee/North Carolina in 1990. Ahhh... I could not have done it again as a celiac last year, but this year, what with you folks, could totally manage it!
  21. Ah, then, you probably don't want to do that. It makes it impossible for you to carry the child, but if you did surrogacy, it would probably be fine. Talk to your doc. I so hope you get to feeling better soon, I've been having similar issues and it isn't at all fun! Margaret
  22. Dear Margaret, I believe you are right. That is a very plausible explanation. The thing is, rats are often immune to poison. They always eat very small amounts of things. If they get sick once, they won't eat that food again. They are highly intelligent. Did you know they can tread water for 3 days straight? They also can end...
  23. If you're done with the kid-bearing years, endometrial ablation might be an option, too.
  24. One week later report: I'm fairly certain that I got glutened and probably from cc. The poops don't lie!! I can't buy my own chips for the same reason that DingoGirl doesn't, the whole bag would be gone, even if I bought little bags and kept them at home...same for a box of Mary's Gone Crackers, they'd be gone inside a very short week. Yesterday I snarfed...
  25. Here's another great one: www.foodieview.com It searches only the foodie websites and you can style it many different ways. Also, the www.chowhound.com website is getting more hits from celiac-type peeps. Margaret
