  1. If it says flavorings but doesn't specifically list wheat, rye or barley, it's still gluten-free. richard
  2. "Are raspberries one of those fruits that are packed in straw or have straw strewn over them when they are growing?" Raspberries grow on canes well above the ground level.
  3. There are some people who appear to believe you can absorb anything through your skin, which is patently not true. For instance, skin lotion might soak into your upper layers but it does not permeate the skin barrier and it does not get into your body. Some medications can be absorbed, BUT only because the patches also contain a chemical carrier that takes...
  4. I can't say about the belly, but dies she fall in the"failure to thrive" category. If so, that's a major celiac red flag at this age. richard
  5. "{And as you have undoubtedly read here before, barley malt when used as a flavoring agent can be listed under just natural flavors and not disclosed." Please provide evidence this is truew for raw meats richard.
  6. I'm sorry you have such bad reactions to whatever, but there's no question that most folks with celiac who do not have a dairy problem have almost no problem at all with dairy products. Generally speaking, they do not have gluten. richard
  7. Never heard of a cream cheese with gluten. richard
  8. "Modified food starch can be made from wheat, so when in doubt, I do not touch it. Some people feel that modified food starch is safe now that we have the new allergen laws in effect, but some companies are still not listing the allergens on the labels, until the law is policed, then I will not touch modified food starch" Please note that this information...
  9. From everything I've heard and read, it's complete bunk. richard
  10. "When chicken has broth added it is not uncommon for barley to be used as a flavoring agent. You should always verify that it is gluten free. As mentioned whole unprocessed chicken is safe. It's what's in the added broth that can get you." In fact , it is uncommon, at least in the U.S.. I can't name one in the U.S. that does this. Can you? AND, as you...
  11. To make it economical and to earn money, the GS must sell millions and millions of boxes of each one of their cookies. Not only would they not be able to sell enough millions of gluten-free cookies, the price would probably be at least double and maybe triple the normal. I wouldn't buy them at that price. Heck, I won't even pay the price for gluten-free commercial...
  12. Experts generally agree that you should feed her as if she doesn't have celiac. In fact, there was at least one study that suggested that children are more likely to develop celiac if you delay introduction of wheat (not sure how solid that evidence is). And testing is of no use at this age, richard
  13. I don't know about the 70/30 breakdown but there are any number of people who have the gene but never develop celiac. No one is real sure exactly why some develop and others don't. richard
  14. I guess it could be DH but sounds more like a contact allergy. If your dermatologist an';t tell by looking (mine could) biopsy is the way to go. BTW, your condition sounds nothing like my DH. Mine was itchy nasty clear blisters mainly on elbows, knees, buttocks, scalp. No flaking, cutting or small red bumps. richard
  15. The first step is blood tests. The doctor might then want you to have an endoscopy, but that's up to you. Do the blood tests first. richard

If it's REAL traditional Pho, it's gluten-free. But ypu need to ask. I once ran across a Pad Thai that should have been gluten-free, but this place used soy sauce where it shouldn't have been. richard
  17. Lindt hasn't been gluten-free in the U.S. since I was diagnosed 7 years ago. But there are many, many excellent chocolates that are gluten-free. richard
  18. I've never heard of a gluten-free croissant that flakes like the real thing. If you achieve it, let us know. richard
  19. Generally speaking, most folks with celiac don't have problems with breathing around gluten UNLESS you're talking about some sort of gluten dust in the air. Reacting to an after shave (are you sure it acually has gluten) or to wrapped bread is highly unusual, and the asthma part sounds like an allergic reaction, not a celiac reaction. richard
  20. The EZ gluten test strip test is so unreliable that it's ridiculous to base any decisions on it. New Grist is gluten-free. richard
  21. According to most experts and the NIH, you have -- or certainly will have -- celiac. All I had for 20 years was DH, and I ended up EXTREMELY ill. You should go gluten-free if you haven't already. richard
  22. Sounds like possible psoriasis. You may need to see a dermatologist, but I also use T-Gel plus. richard
  23. Not unusual. Your body is starving for nutrients. richard
  24. gluten-free. richard
  25. I agree that it sounds like psoriasis. T-gel Extra has helped me a lot. I can't say whether or not it's gluten-free, but it doesn't matter to me. richard
