  1. Takal, I guess I've gotten pretty cynical about Congress. There's been a bi-partisan bill out there for more than a year now that both sides agree will help keep cancer medicines for kids in better supply and therefor possibly save lives, and yet they can't get it passed. The Republican House speaker blames the president (which is total BS) and the Democrat...

    ARCHIVED Fish Sauce

Never found a fish sauce with gluten. richard
  3. Found this at the Tic Tac site: Tic Tac
  4. If you are around a lot of loose dust you could be getting some gluten, whether by inhaling or inadvertently by touching your mouth. HOWEVER, for many people three weeks gluten free isn't enough time to see an enormous improvement. richard
  5. I will remain hopeful for this bill but the odds in favor are minuscule in large part because it was introduced by Democrats, which means most Republicans automatically oppose it no matter what it is. Often goes the other way, as well, but in this case the Rpubs can just outright kill it. And that is almost certainly what will happen. richard
  6. Absolutely no way to keep them out of everything we eat or drink. Some of them you can't even really see. richard
  7. Just tio give you a little encouragement, the vast majority of people with celiac who I know personally do NOT have other food sensitivities to worry about, or if they do have any it's something pretty simple. Certainly, if you continue to have problems you should look into other possible food issues and I DO think it's important not to imagine that every...
  8. Almost certainly gluten-free (it would HAVE to list wheat), although I'm not familiar with it. BTW, for other readers, this is not a bar cheese as in a bar of cheese, it's a spread. richard
  9. I have to say it: Back in the day, I didn't consider Coors Light to taste anything at all like REAL beer. richard
  10. Dapsone, which seems to be more correctly called an anti-bacterial, does indeed treat the symptoms of DH (I took it for 20 years), but it has different action that what most people think of as your standard antibiotic. And, yes, others sulfa drugs have some effect but are generally less effective. You cannot just start popping any old antibiotic (which would...
  11. "I have been told that any liquid that is injected into chicken would be broth containing gluten." Absolutely, positively, without question 100 percent false. richard
  12. Good gravy, folks. Undigested food particles in your bloodstream? Passing celiac along in a blood transfusion? Things are getting mighty weird here. richard
  13. Are you depressed? richard
  14. Antibiotics do not get rid of DH. richard
  15. Ask them to get a completely clean scoop. Yes, I know there could still be some extremely minor CC from past scooping. richard
  16. WARNING: I am NOT a doctor or medical person!! If you feel good and your blood tests are good, I just don't see the need for another biopsy. There are some dangers involved in sticking stuff own your throat and into your small bowel, although overall it's a relatively safe procure. The second time they did my dad, they accidentally tore his esophagus(...
  17. For seasoning I use chili powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, a little oregano and mustard, and -- THIS IS ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL -- cumin. Cumin must, must be in there. Some chili chefs even put it in twice, once at the beginning and then again about an hour before it's done. Look at this page and I doubt you'll find a single cookoff recipe that doesn...
  18. Anything made overseas but sold in the U.S. still MUST list wheat if it's there. richard
  19. I've yet to find a rum that isn't gluten-free. Bacardi's definitely is, but so are better ones. richard
  20. Sweet and sour sauce traditionally has soy sauce in it. Most commercial soy sauce in the U.S. has wheat. Odds are very high that the sweet and sour sauce had gluten. The cornstarch was gluten-free (absent any CC, that is). richard
  21. Injectables do NOT contain gluten. richard
  22. Lucky, it's pretty much 99.99999999 percent that the chicken is gluten-free. If you don't see wheat listed, it's going to be gluten-free. richard
  23. IMO, there's really no reason to quit ALL grains. If you're paranoid about CC of grains, there are types and brands that are safer than others. But you definitely need to get rid of any condiments and such that might have crumbs in them. Also, there's no certainty that you'll have gluten withdrawal. You might, and you might not. I never did. I wouldn't...
  24. You can relax about gluten in dust. richard
