  1. While I would never advise people not to check ingredients in anything, IrishHeart, I would also argue that at least two items on your list -- luncheon meats and self-basting poultry -- don't really deserve a special warning. At least in my part of the U.S., I can't think of more than one or two sandwich meats that might still have gluten and they are ones...
  2. From what I understand, that 170 number pretty much means celiac. That's about where mine was. Going gluten-free solved it all for me. richard
  3. The Angus seasoning lists no wheat whatsoever: Angus Burger Seasoning: Salt, sugar, onion powder, natural (animal, plant and botanical source) and artificial flavors, spice, maltodextrin, autolyzed yeast extract, dried beef broth, dextrose, garlic powder, worcestershire sauce powder [distilled vinegar, molasses, corn syrup, salt, caramel color, garlic...
  4. Based on your description, I SERIOUSLY doubt this is a gluten thing. richard
  5. Ice cream should not be a struggle at all. As kareng said, you're almost universally OK as long as you avoid the obvious stuff -- cookies, cake and so forth. A very few ice creams do have barley malt, but I've always found it listed. richard
  6. Grits are good to go. richard
  7. We saved enough on tires (three vehicles) to pay for several years worth of fees. richard
  8. Not to scare anybody, but a sudden weird reaction or intolerance to alcohol is a symptom of Hodgkin's. With that said, I imagine the odds are MUCH higher that it's something else. However, if you have other symptoms or strange stuff happening along with this sudden intolerance, see a doctor. richard
  9. I know it has been in the past but I haven't checked on it in a long time. Mostly because it falls under the category of being highly unlikely to contain gluten. We use it. richard
  10. I'd consider seeing a doctor. Richard
  11. Toothpastes are pretty much universally gluten-free. richard
  12. My tolerance didn't change. I could still drink just as much as before, maybe even more as my weight went up. You are right in that a sudden intolerance or strange reactions to alcohol can also be a sign of something else going on. rihard
  13. Doesn't sound like mine (when I had it). richard
  14. If they say contain wheat, they contain wheat. Don't eat. May contain wheat is probably a warning that they make items that contain wheat and there's some possibility of contamination. You'd have to check with them about their procedures. I looked at a couple of their mixes online, and while it warns it's manufactured in a facility that has wheat, it's something...
  15. As already mentioned, the key is to find products that are just gluten-free anyway and stay away from expensive stuff. Toothpaste is pretty much universally gluten-free (MAYBE one type of Sensodyne isn't). Hand soaps generally are not a problem and you can certainly find a regular one that works. However, if your family insists on having bread or pasta...
  16. I have to agree with Sylvia. Why are you certain this is an ever-changing gluten reaction? richard
  17. I have never seen anybody else complain that Hormel pepperoni affects them. richard
  18. True. A little homework would have helped.
  19. I have to say that it's hard for me to imagine that moving loaves of bread, especially if they're wrapped, would make you sick, but cleaning up flour is something I simply refuse to do. richard
  20. For me it's three hours. I start getting sort of a panicked feeling and then the nausea. However, I don;t think that either your gluten-free bun or the sausage is your culprit -- at least not as far as gluten is concerned. richard
  21. If you're worried about gluten in tha,t don't be. richard
  22. "It contains Modified Food Starch which is a an ingredient that may contain gluten and the according to the FDA rules a company does not have to list that a gluten containing grain is included in modified food starch. The rule is: If it contains modified food starch and it is not tested and labeled gluten free it is assumed it contains gluten." This is...
  23. I know a kid who has tourettes, although perhaps not the worst case in the world. He is on a tennis scholarship at college and is one of the more brilliant math students I've ever known personally. richard
  24. Pretty certain that Rissoteria in NYC does use dedicated ovens for their gluten-free pizza. I think. richard
  25. Domino's doesn't recommend the crust for people with celiac. richarde
