  1. Angie, I'm so glad you have a sensible doctor!
  2. WE CAN JUST SAY THAT WE'RE ALL SO PASSIONATE ABOUT WHAT WE'RE SAYING THAT WE FEEL JUSTIFIED IN SHOUTING IT!!
  3. Hmmm, that third one said I was a type C and could be lacking ambition. I don't buy it, I think the questions were screwed up. All those "ambition" type questions never gave you the option of "there's no point, I'm already better than everyone else"
  4. JUDY, YOU CAN SHOUT AT ME ANY TIME!!
  5. I'm not meaning to be ornery, but I'm curious what benefits? Unless you mean personal ones which is a whole different thing.
  6. Yeah, I hate when that happens
  7. I guess I mean "Why do you care what they think?" You don't need a prescription...
  8. It really throws me off when people change their avatars.
  9. I don't understand why you feel you need an additional diagnosis. What would change?
  10. It does pay to be careful, but you can approach these things with some thought. Oats and wheat are grown under the same conditions, and therefor wheat could be growing in the oat field, that's why it's contaminated. But rice has very unique growing conditions and so it's unlikely that it would be contaminated. Made in a wheat containing factory could...
  11. sonja, maybe there is something at your work that's making you sick.
  12. Angie, you may never know definitively.... You might have to just make a decision.
  13. There are recipes for buckwheat crepes that have no flour. It's common i one of the regions of france.
  14. Umm, Jackie? This is a very exclusive thread and you are only able to join if you're willing to risk peeing your pants laughing. It's a big commitment, so take some time to think about it.
  15. Don't touch your eyes and nose. It keeps most of the germs on your hands out of your body.
  16. You made me smile!! :)

  17. That's pretty funny. I realized that when I see something yummy it doesn't really register as "food". It's about the same reaction I get when I see a picture of something yummy in a magazine. It's like a 3-D representation of what I could make.
  18. Are the salts they use iodized? I thought it was just table salt that they add iodine to.
  19. Cassava is tapioca and the other odd thing (manz.. something) is cornstarch Open Original Shared Link
  20. I have got to stop reading this thread. I keep drooling on the keyboard
  21. It's a very good question and you're right. It is genetic, but your genes aren't all it takes to develop the disease. There are a lot of theories about what triggers the onset of Celiac, but no one has a definative answer. If you carry the gene(s), there is a chance that some or all of your children also carry a gene. That doesn't necessarily mean they...
  22. They were fabulous. I would have had them again for breakfast only that getting-to-work-on-time thing got in the way. If I ever get a waffle maker - those are next.
  23. Well Guhlia, I had pancakes with blackberry jam for DINNER and all because of that avatar of yours!

ARCHIVED Celiac Sprue & Doctor Too!

Hey GFMemphis! I'm glad you're still here! I was afraid you were feeling taken advantage of and decided to lay low. I really appreciate the fact that a medical professional is following a non-professional board and so has a much better understanding of the people coping with the disease, rather than the disease itself. Thanks.
  25. I have to qualify my next statement by saying that I am a science nerd. This is way frickin' cool you guys! The idea that your body is trying to do something to protect itself (rid toxins through the skin? make you stinky so you don't want to keep eating?) is just so cool. Ok, sorry, I'll try to put that nerdliness under control again.
