Email From Ups My Care Package Is On Its Way!

I've been feeling a little down these last couple weeks because I feel like I'm still sick. The joint and muscle pain has made it hard to sleep and my fall allergies are out of control.

So this morning I wake up to an email from ups with tracking that my care package from the u of c is on its way. It's so cool that they do this, I hope they know how much it could really brighten a celiac's day, especially when we are having gloomy ones :-)

Let us know what you get.  I love getting little random things like that in the mail.  I'll sign up for a sample of something and get so excited when it arrives.  Just getting something that's not a bill makes me happy.  :D

Hope you start feeling better soon.

Wasn't Karen the one who suggested this particular offering from U of C to you?

I have recommended it myself to some people, too and you are the first to tell us" it's coming!"

and I hope you will share what's in it. ( we are all easily amused and excited and take pleasure in these things...LOL)

It's so exciting to get a package, isn't it!! whoohooo! :D

I think it may have been Karen, I think she posted a link about something I posted. I can't remember.

Yes it's very exciting!

Karen just posted the other day that the u of c is seeing people apply for these but not diagnosed Celiac.

I received the U of C gift basket a couple of months after diagnosis. It was awesome -- an enormous basket filled with lots of different foods, plus magazines and coupons -- all with a bow on top:-)

It was so generous that I immediately made a donation to them.

answerseeker Enthusiast

Yep I plan on making a donation. It's such an awesome thing that they do

People will do anything for free stuff, it did not surprise me at all that I had to give them my Dr.'s info so they could confirm my diagnosis before they sent mine. But that way they only help people who actually need it, and you also get another pair of eyeballs on your test results maybe.  I saw a post about the care packages on a freebie/coupon type website and people were complaining that they had everyone in their family try to get one to give to them and they were denied.  Really people?  LOL  I have been wanting to make a donation but I have been so broke lately being unable to work, some day I want to pay it forward and donate a good amount to them, they really help the celiac community a lot.

Dr. G mentioned that, by requiring " proof" of Celiac disease before you receive a box, they have found many people who don't have Celiac. He seemed to be saying that people were diagnosed incorrectly. But I supposed people will try to get free stuff if they can get away with it.

so maybe people who were told they have a gluten sensitivity but not celiac? I didn't want to put any words in your mouth I was hoping you would elaborate on it :D

It was just mentioned in passing. It seemed that some doctors maybe diagnose people incorrectly?

* passes Irish a cookie* I have tea every afternoon so these cookies will be opened at 3:00 tea time hehe. I love their crunchy sugar cookies with tea mmmmmm

I need the comfort food. I have 2 stitches in my bum from a skin biopsy yesterday. Derm suspects DH. He said it wouldn't hurt and he lied! It's right on the top of the tailbone and it hurts!

It did! And it came after my derm appointment which included a skin biopsy. After the numbness wore off my bum was sore so it did cheer me up

GF Lover Rising Star

Sorry about the sore backside.  Use Aquaphor healing ointment on the biopsy site.  It will speed the healing time.

So I've been dealing with chasing the name celiac because of my body actively dealing with health issues related to celiac though not eating. Diagnosed in 1994 before foods eliminated from diet. After 25 years with former pcp I googled celiac specialist and she wasn't because of what ive been through. I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

I've noticed with my age and menopause my smell for bread gives me severe migraines and I know this. Its alarming that there are all these fabulous bakeries, sandwich places pizza places popping up in confined areas.Just the other day I suffered a migraine after I got done with my mri when a guy with a brown paper bag walk in front of me and I smelled that fresh dough bread with tuna, I got a migraine when we got home.I hate im that sensitive. Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.
