Did anyone else experience lower right-side pain of abdomen?

I have to note that there is no vomiting or fever or nausea, so this is likely not appendicitis. Just gas in that area when I put my hands on it, and pain which occurred before sleep and came back when I woke.  It has been twelve hours.

I am thinking it's cross contamination.  I was diagnosed with celiac disease a year ago.

Also, with our symptoms it is kind of difficult to tell the difference between celiac disease and anything new developing.

I have other embarrassing questions which I shall keep to myself for now.

Pain in my lower-right side was a primary symptom of my celiac disease before I was diagnosed and went gluten-free:

After 11 years diagnosis and gluten free clear blood testing I developed sharp lower right abdomen pain 2 years ago. I thought it was either a kidney stone or appendix.  It was worse upon waking when the bladder is full. I had a sonogram clearing my theory. I then had Celiac blood testing, colonoscopy and a small GI pill camera. I found mine was a reaction to citric acid and ascorbic acid. I had started eating berries at that time. It seems to be a urinary tract reaction. It comes back if I have citrus fruit, berries and tomato sauce.

I could not eat tomatoes, corn, chicken eggs or dairy for several years after my diagnosis, as they triggered nearly the same symptoms. After I healed I could tolerate those again.

My niece has Crohn’s and is successfully being treated.  She recently had severe abdominal pain that landed her in the ER.  It was not a Crohn’s flare-up, but was a ruptured ovarian cyst.  You might want to see your doctor.  He or she can also run another celiac blood panel to see if your celiac disease is active.  I have done that a few times after a suspected gluten exposure because my symptoms were so different each time.

Not everything is due to celiac disease.

Yes. After my cc and subsequent gluten challenge, I experienced  right abdominal pain.  I personally feel these symptoms were due to inflammation for me .  My liver/ gall bladder after my gluten challenge  for me did not seem to work properly for quite sometime based on my digestion issues.

If you are newly diagnosed or had unintended exposure you may find it is a symptom. As some of us do get this.

However it is best as cycling lady suggested to rule out other causes/issues.

Interesting! I get pain frequently on either the left or right side when I'm having general digestive issues. However, I get a distinct burning pain in my lower left side when I'm glutened.

Hello! I know this thread is old but I just wanted to add for anyone who looks at threads like this while waiting for tests etc like I did! I have just been diagnosed as coeliac and had a lot of right sided lower abdo pain! My colonoscopy was fine and all the pain is associated with being coeliac. Hope that might be reassuring! Hope everyone is staying well 🙂

Very interested in this topic. I have had lower right side pain for weeks (after a few too many Glutenbergs) and elevated lipase (3x normal). PCP thinks it’s not pancreatitis due to CT results & pain being atypical. They think it is related Celiac, whatever that means?

So, waiting on follow-up blood work and a CK test ordered to rule out “other muscle related” issues, which I shouldn’t have googled.

There are so many related issues and symptoms that I am glad for this forum as a resource.

You've done an excellent job of meticulously tracking the rash's unpredictable behavior, from its symmetrical spread and stubborn scabbing to the potential triggers you've identified, like the asthma medication and dietary changes. It's particularly telling that the rash seems to flare with wheat consumption, even though your initial blood test was negative—as you've noted, being off wheat before a test can sometimes lead to a false negative, and your description of the other symptoms—joint pain, brain fog, stomach issues—is very compelling. The symmetry of the rash is a crucial detail that often points toward an internal cause, such as an autoimmune response or a systemic reaction, rather than just an external irritant like a plant or mites. I hope your doctor tomorrow takes the time to listen carefully to all of this evidence you've gathered and works with you to find some real answers and effective relief. Don't be discouraged if the rash fluctuates; your detailed history is the most valuable tool you have for getting an accurate diagnosis.

In this case the beer is excellent, but for those who are super sensitive it is likely better to go the full gluten-free beer route. Lakefront Brewery (another sponsor!) has good gluten-free beer made without any gluten ingredients.

Welcome to the forum, @catsrlife! Celiac disease can be diagnosed without committing to a full-blown "gluten challenge" if you get a skin biopsy done during an active outbreak of dermatitis herpetiformis, assuming that is what is causing the rash. There is no other known cause for dermatitis herpetiformis so it is definitive for celiac disease. You would need to find a dermatologist who is familiar with doing the biopsy correctly, however. The samples need to be taken next to the pustules, not on them . . . a mistake many dermatologists make when biopsying for dermatitis herpetiformis.

You state in an earlier post that you don't have celiac disease. Here in this post you state you will "be doing another test". What will this test be looking for? What kind of celiac disease testing have you had done? If you have used a Entero Labs it sounds like you have had stool testing done for celiac disease which is not widely accepted as a valid celiac disease diagnostic testing method. Have you had blood antibody testing for celiac disease done and do you realize that for antibody testing to be valid you must have been eating generous amounts of gluten for a period of weeks/months?

No, I've not been diagnosed as celiac.  Despite Entero Labs being relocated to Switzerland/Greece, I'll be doing another test. After eating wheat products in Greece for 4 weeks, there wasn't any reaction.  However, avoiding it here in the states.   Thanks everyone for your responses.
