Horrible Pain On Left Side

This morning I started sweating and go a horrible pain on my left side. I even felt really hot even though it was 65 in the house. Once I doubled over in pain my sister took me to the doctor. I had a blood test and a x-ray, both came out fine. Now I am wondering if I was glutened? Any thoughts?

Sorry you aren't feeling well!

Where on the left side was your pain? Was it lower or higher? Did you eat something that you think may have had gluten in it? It sounds like it could have been intestinal cramping, but could have been an ovarian cyst too. I have had one burst and it sounds much like you described. It would be seen by US, but if it burst, only some fluid would be in the area, the cyst would be gone.

Just another thought--diverticulitis causes lower-left abdominal pain and fever. If you are still having the pain and the fever, I would call the doctor to be safe.

      Shingles is dormant and related to chicken pox when one has had in the past.Shingles comes out when stress is heightened.I had my 3rd Shingles in 2023.

      Oh my......will the danger never end? It has seemed like no matter what we do or have done the odds were/are against us. Next they'll tell us that just looking at wheat will be dangerous. Oh well....hang in there.

      Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute.
