Bev,

Your hubby would be welcome. He's got to answer the questionairre I posted for Dave a few posts ago.

Same stipulations for anyone not totally gluten free. Our town will not be infiltrated but if spouses, friends and family will agree to go through the decontamination chamber process....it's workable.

I sure hope you get to the bottom of this soon. Do you eat soy?

Andrea, you must add "Mother Hen" to your job description :)

Hi Bev, good to see you! Of course your husband can join us. He can go over the hill to the mall with Rachel and Mango and the others, where there just might be a KFC. So sorry you have not been feeling well, you have had a rough time of it the last several months. Have you had a check up? Hope you getting lots of rest and taking good care of yourself.

Susie Q!!! Good morning to you and the dingo girls. I also was impressed with Celia's scince posts, very scientificness of her.

Dave could be our town hottie

Hi julie! great photo - - did you see my post that you looked like a hot rocker chick? or did you choose to ignore it....ha ha

Patti, I forgot to mention,

If you hear back from the Terra company about the Red Bliss Potato Chips, I would love to hear the response.

Is there some reason we can't have a gluten-free KFC? I mean, hell, if gluten-free Big Macs exist in the world, can't the colonel help us out?

Has anyone ever notice that the word colonel is made up mostly of the word COLON? Actually, that makes a lot of sense :P

I feel deprived, I only have two jobs :P

And between food and politics, I need another, more wholesome job to balance out the evil! B)

Thanks Susie, no I didn't see your post. I am so far behind on reading I just jumped in and didn't go back. You know how scary it is going back in Rachelville, lions, tigers and bears....

Rocker chick? :lol::lol::lol:

If you only knew. I was the preppy girl at all the rock concerts, penny loafers, plaid. Love the music, but don't look the part.

Julie,

Done. I'll post as soon as I know what Dave and Bev's husband want to do....providing the answer the application questions.

Picard,

Have you thought of going through the expense of enterolab. It costs $369 for the whole gluten panel which includes the gene test. Much more sensitive than blood tests and more reliable than biopsies. Open Original Shared Link

Yes, I have considered it. I am a bit hesitant as I am concerned with the results getting back to my insurance company.

Picard - an attorney AND a Navy Diver - lots of stress and clearly a very driven personality! Whoever suggested Enterolab had a good idea, I think. Interesting that it could be tropical sprue, but your mother's history sounds indicative of Celiac.

Sometimes I can be driven, it depends. I just adapt to want is around me and move on. The idea of tropical sprue came about due to my traveling when I was in the service. Interesting that I did not think of it until recently.

Ryan, I wish you the best in Greenland. Is it a mandatory transfer? I remember optional one year isolated duty to Diego Garcia and Gitmo. But afterward you had your choice of duty station. Is your deployment along those lines?

They do not bill insurance companies and send the results to you. The only way your insurance would know about it is if you filed a claim for reimbursement.

I would not file for reimbursement butsome insurance companies require disclosure of all known medical conditions and ask for family hx. It could cause a problem.

I am sitting here laughing out loud, this is the best medicine.

I'm F-I-N-E FINE. (which at this point stands for frustrated, impatient, neurotic and emotional). Don't know what to do.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I know how it feels.

Welcome Dave - Village Idiot, I don't know about that, it seems to me you have to be quite brilliant just to appreciate the job.

Andrea, I love our jobs list, thank you again for doing it, oh and Rachel's criterion for getting into Rachelville is hilarious although I think I missed something in between no bats and the bats turning purple.

I feel better today after keeping a simple diet for a few days. It is becoming very clear to me that it takes just a little to overload my body with too much, that too many ingredients and particularly processed ingredients at one time causes overload/agitation/inflammation. It seems like everytime I start to feel a little better I immediately start pushing to see if I can have a little more variety and as soon as I do that I'm in pain again. I will learn, I will .... I'll just wait awhile before I have my banana icecream with chocolate and nuts on it again.

Donna, how about some earrings to go with those bracelets?!

I now have 25 new bracelets and one more just waiting to be strung.:lol:

Thanks a lot! I'm just Rachel's friend, not her Boss though....I don't think she has a Boss, kind of her own Boss; hence, President. :D

Well, welcome anyway TheDave, Rachel's friend-but-not-boss (stealing from Penguin cuz I liked it too much, lol).

Glad you are feeling a little better today rinne. I have lived and learned many times over, lots of mistakes with my food choices and feeling really lousy as a result. The diet I am following now is going really well though so maybe something has finally clicked in my brain that I just can't eat certain things

You'll get there!

One thing that struck me is the banana ice cream w/chocolate. Those are both on the list of high histamine content/histamine releasing foods. Just a thought.

DingoGirl Enthusiast
OKAY this is just funny, I know that I am not one to talk about typo's/spelling, but when you call your self a language teacher, then misspell DIET thats pretty funny!

just noticed that he misspelled "teacher" too.....:lol::lol:

Ryan - was it you that posted something about Blue Diamond Nut Thins? Welllll.....finally tried them last night and am rubbish today (spinached) - - feel like lead and can hardly move....BTW they taste almost exactly like Trader Joe's Savory Thins - but, I don't think you have Trader Joe's in Canada.

Donna - - why can't I be that motivated to make jewelry? :o Get on over here and let's have a jewelry party......I am too busy right now painting everything (BY MYSELF!!! lost my helpers so it's slow work) and then re-doing floors...ugh.....

Rinne - lovely to see you - - did I mention how envious I am about your little plot of land for 1K? IN what state are you living that something was priced that low?? Holy cow....Also I understand what you mean about too many ingredients and processed foods - - ugh..... :( And sugar - - I don't think sugar makes me feel fantastic, either.

Judy - - dang you said something SO funny in your post pages back, I haven't the strength to find it but it just made me hoot and guffaw - -

yup, the laughter here is so good for us! :)

Rinne,

I couldn't help but notice the correlation between you and Rachel. She goes on an ice cream binge, tries veggies she know causes problems and feels miserable. Take things slow, add only one item at a time with at least a week in between, preferably longer.

I had banana sorbet with chocolate chips last night. I'm mildly allergic to bananas so don't have them more than once a week.

My hubby wants to come live with us too but he had a request. You guys would like him- he could be part of the town band or he could be the town computer geek. He's pretty much gluten-free except when he eats out. He actually had a special request though. If there could be a KFC outside the city limits. I said "NO WAY" but then I though if it had a special decontamination chamber that removed all offending substances from you before you left so you couldn't come back into R-ville and contaminate anyone, MAYBE it wouold be OK. I'll let the town vote. On the KFC.

KFC is over the hill at the mall where Rachel and I will get our shopping fix...I suppose the KFC could be there, lol. :P

To everyone who is feeling yucky- I hope you feel better. It's been three weeks for me and i still feel poopy. First it was C diff, then the flagyl and now I don't know what the heck is going on. The big D, headaches, neck aches, chills, nausea. Can't get my butt out of bed before 11 am because I'm so tired and achey. I'm actually getting scared. :( I'm wondering if it's my thyroid or Lyme's or some dengue fever. Yuck! i'm trying to make the best of it but as I tell my husband I'm F-I-N-E FINE. (which at this point stands for frustrated, impatient, neurotic and emotional). Don't know what to do.

I did have fun yesterday though. I've been MAKING myself do something every day even if I feel crappy because if I sit home doing nothing I just get depressed (I'm on summer break from school). Hubby and I went up to visit friends who are at a beautiful lake about an hour from us so we went up there and just hung out by the lake and swam (the water was so warm- for here anyway where the ocean is freezing!).

But then I wake up at 3 am today crying because I had a horrible night mare and then I wake up at 5 am with D and a headache. Kinda at my wit's end.

Yes- suggestions are greatly appreciated :D as are hugs, love and anything else you care to send my way. I'm going to drag my butt into the shower and try to wake up (yes- I know it's noon here, but it's a start).

No suggestions really, except that by being here in this thread you just might stumble upon something that will click with you. That's how this whole thing started...a bunch of us trying to figure out what the heck was making us feel so bad...some of us are actually improving, so there's hope!!!! {{{hugs}}}

:) Hi, checking back in between laundry loads-Bev, you have had enough, dear professor. I think maybe some of the scientificness facts found here in R'ville might help you. Corn, tapioca, water, vitamins-these are topics that have come up that may interest you. They are interspersed (sp?) in the hills of R'ville. Patti has made some interesting discoveries regarding water filters-seems that they have coconut hulls or fibers and it was making her water a problem. She has found Poland Springs to be a good safe one and I have switched to that too. Produce was discovered to have problems with auxigro-even organic-by our dear president, Rachel. Corn and tapioca are biggies for a lot of us here too. Julie and rinne have made excellent research discoveries on problems with vitamins as well. We must find safe food. Cecile/Celia has decided to grow her own in frustration and I support that idea wholeheartedly. Perhaps you can find a farmer's market where you can get produce and question the grower directly on the chemicals used.

I remember going to the feed mill in our little town and seeing the seed corn and beans on display for gardeners to plant and they had coatings on them to fight fungus/disease that were pink. I wonder what role that plays with our problems. It is right at the start of the whole growing process. Makes ya wonder. We will try our bestus to help you get well! We are all in this shaking boat together!

Susan-Watch out for Rocky Mtn. spotted fever-carried by ticks as well and is as bad as Lyme. I hope you can whip this headache soon. I forget, but can you eat ice-cream? Eating ice-cream or popcicles or anything frozen sometimes helps. Eat it SLOW though, don't want an ice headache on top of it. Take care, we miss you when you are gone.

Does anyone remember the play, "Harvey"? It is a movie, too with Jimmy Stewart. There is a psychiatrist whose fantasy is to go to a grove of trees in Akron, Ohio, lie in the shade and have a lovely woman sit at his side and listen to all his life story and hold his hand and say, "Oh, you poor dear. Poor, poor dear." That is all he wants her to say! I think we need a hand holder like that in R'ville. A couple of them-one nice male and one nice female.

How about being the hand-holder for the guys penguin?! Sounds like that would balance out the jobs for you!! :)

Gotta fold laundry--bye for now!!

No, I've not been diagnosed as celiac.  Despite Entero Labs being relocated to Switzerland/Greece, I'll be doing another test. After eating wheat products in Greece for 4 weeks, there wasn't any reaction.  However, avoiding it here in the states.   Thanks everyone for your responses.

Thank you @JulieRe so much for sharing this extra information. I'm so glad to hear you're feeling better and I hope it keeps moving in that direction. I feel I'm having so many lightbulb moments on this forum just interacting with others who have this condition. I also was diagnosed with gastric reflux maybe about 10 years ago. I was prescribed ranitidine for it several years back, which was working to reduce my gastric reflux symptoms but then the FDA took ranitidine off the shelves so I stopped taking it. I had a lot of ups and downs healthwise in and around that time (I suddenly gained 20 pounds, blood pressure went up, depression got worse, and I was diagnosed with OSA). At the time I attributed my change in symptoms to me taking on a new stressful job and didn't think much else about it. They did give me a replacement gastric reflux drug since ranitidine was off the shelves, but when I went on the CPAP for my OSA, the CPAP seemed to correct the gastric reflux problem so I haven't been on any gastric reflux drug treatment for years although I still do have to use a CPAP for my OSA. Anyway that's a long story but just to say… I always feel like I've had a sensitive stomach and had migraines my whole life (which I'm now attributing to having celiac and not knowing it) but I feel my health took a turn for much worse around 2019-2020 (and this decline started before I caught covid for the first time). So I am now wondering based on what you said, if that ranitidine i took could have contributed to the yeast overgrowth, and that the problem has just been worsening ever since. I have distinctly felt that I am dealing with something more than just stress and battling a more fundamental disease process here. I've basically been in and out of different doctor specialties for the past 5 years trying to figure out what's wrong with me. Finally being diagnosed with celiac one year ago, I thought I finally had THE answer but now as I'm still sick, I think it's one of a few answers and that maybe yeast overgrowth is another answer. For me as well, my vitamin deficiencies have persisted even after I went gluten-free (and my TTG antibody levels came down to measurably below the detectable limit on my last blood test). So this issue of not absorbing vitamins well is also something our cases have in common. I'm now working with a nutritionist and taking lots of vitamins and supplements to try and remedy that issue. I hope that you continue to see improvements in working with your naturopath on this. Keep us posted!

Hello everyone. I am Elena and am 38 years old. I suspect I have a gluten intolerance even if my celiac panel is ok. I have the following symptoms : facial flushing, Red dots not bumps în face, bloating abdominal distension, hair loss, depression anxiety even with meds and even bipolar. Fatigue extreme to the point of not being able to work. All of these after I eat gluten. Could I have non celiac gluten sensitivity? Thanks anyone else with these symptoms?
    • JulieRe
Hi Everyone,  I do appreciate your replies to my original post.   Here is where I am now in this journey.  I am currently seeing a Naturopath.  One thing I did not post before is that I take Esomeprazole for GERD.  My Naturopath believes that the decrease in the gastric acid has allowed the yeast to grow.    She has put me on some digestive enzymes.  She also put me on Zinc, Selenium, B 12, as she felt that I was not absorbing my vitamins. I am about 5 weeks into this treatment, and I am feeling better. I did not have any trouble taking the Fluconazole.
