People, I have lyme.

I went to my bioscan lady today and I tested for it. I asked if that meant I had lyme, and she said well I'm not allowed to say that...but this would be a very strong indication, that YES, I have lyme.

Anyway, just thought Id share.

Hope everyone is having a great day :)

I'm not surprised.

I'm assuming that mercury will also be a situation with you.

Well it's all unofficial, being that it was done on the bioscan, not testing through the lab-- but I obviously have so many of the symptoms and fit the profile, and then the lyme came up in the scan, and the lyme remedies balanced me.....so what I am going to do for now is take the homeopathic lyme remedies and see how that goes.

How do you feel??...Shocked or does it make sense???

Hi Nikki and Patti, thanks Carla and Andrea :D

I haven't really wrapped my head around it all yet  . I knew I needed to do something and so I decided to go back to something I was familiar with and had already done, the bioscan--and my bioscan lady is really great at working together with me. I just expected to see what was going on with my body today and get homeopathic support for whatever areas needed it.

I started telling her about all you guys and all of the lyme diagnoses, especially for people who dont seem to get well no matter what they do or try, and she just started looking through all her books, whipped out everything she had on lyme and said, we will just see if it is an issue for you.

She said lyme registers for some of people she has treated but usually not as something needing to be addresses, she said it hides behind all your other issues. That sneaky little lyme.

So I am glad I brought it to her attention.

I'm just going to go with it and take everything really slowly.

Hi Julie, I am not surprised. Welcome to the Lyme Clan. :)<_<:(:o:lol: How are you doing with the diagnosis? I'm assuming you were ready to hear it given that you asked, yes? Do have any idea at this point what remedies you will use?

Hi rinne, thank you

She works mosly with homeopathic remedies. As we discovered in my appt today, there are alot of companies that formulate a lyme remedy. I balanced for ALL that she tested.

This is all I have available to me at this time, as far as a healthcare professional and treatment, so I am going to give it a go.

rinne Apprentice

It takes time to absorb it, I don't think I have really.... <_<

AndreaB Contributor

Julie,

I'm so glad you asked her about it. :D

I don't know how I would feel in your guy's shoes but I'm assuming it's a relief just to know so you can go forward with treatment and feeling/getting better.

I balanced for ALL that she tested.

Can I ask an ignorant question.......what does that mean?

Green12 Enthusiast
Can I ask an ignorant question.......what does that mean?

Oh sorry Andrea  I guess I should elaborate!

I'm not even sure I totally understand it, let alone be able to explain it...but I will try. It is bioenergetic lingo. It invovles glass vials with the substances in it, or remedies, like what Rachel has described and it is tested against your body. In my case with the bioscan (vs Rachels bioset) specific points are tested with a pointer, while you hold a metal wand. The appt starts out scanning the entire body to look for the areas of weakness, stress, etc- and then the whole idea is to use specific remedies to balance those areas that need support. So when I say ALL the lyme remedies balanced me, it means that I need the lyme remedy, basically. There is so much more to it, and I am just not very good at explaining it, plus my brain is tired at the moment

Sorry, the above makes no sense....

rinne Apprentice

No Julie, it makes perfect voodoo sense.

I am sitting here feeling rather stunned. I know I threw out the Lyme Clan half seriously and half humorously and now I am wondering if it might be truer than I thought. Just think, that is three of us plus Carla, I'm pretty sure you are, plus .... <_<

OMG...I totally almost fell out of my chair.

Julie...Lyme sucks but I'm gonna make an assumption here and go ahead and say Congrats. :)

I know you've been sick alot longer than I have.....so its gotta be somewhat of a relief for you.

I'm not at all surprised by this but when I opened up the new page and saw "People, I have Lyme".....I got kinda thrown for a loop... ....was expecting another joke from Donna or something.

So how is BioScan different from BioSET??? Is it because there is no computer? Most of Bioset is done on a computer.

After reading about Lyme and getting all freaked out by the statistics.....I thought alot of us Rachelvillians could definately be Lyme Ladies. So now we have went from one Lonely Lyme Lady to a whole Lyme Clan.

All I can say is.......OMG! :o

We will have to make sure that Rachelville is not just gluten free but TICK free as well. Rachelville is a NO-TICK ZONE.

The craziest thing is that when I met all of you....here on this thread....and we started sharing our common symptoms....in the back of my mind I wondered if the answer was found, could it be the same answer for ALL of us???

Now....its really looking like it could turn out that way! How CRAZY is that???

I'm totally blown away.....and yes, I think Carla will be the 4th member of the Lyme clan. ;)

I'm still stupified by Julies announcement....will have to get it together and post something useful.

Rinne, is the Samento and other natural stuff considered homeopathic...or is it different??

What about co-infections....does the natural stuff get rid of those to?? I've read so much about people not getting better because of undiagnosed co-infections.....this is mainly with antibiotic treatment though. Because of the co-infections responding to different treatments then the Lyme. Is the samento and salt/vit C suppossed to work for everything??

I had mono when I was 17, anyone else?

Not me...I was FINE...never had any viruses or infections or nothing. <_<

Even the Lyme got shut down by my immune system for 2 years....until I got OVERLY stressed out from my stupid relationship....and then the idiot dentist decided to expose me to mercury in every way possible.....then BAMN....I became allergic to the world. B)

Honestly, I dont even feel sick now. My symptoms all seem to come from my reactions to everything around me. They dont seem to be coming from the Lyme....but rather the Lyme is stressing my immune system so much that its totally lost all sense of whats safe to eat and breathe and whats not. Its gone haywire on me and it must be "retrained". <_<

My immune system I think is VERY strong. I'm thinking it might actually be keeping the Lyme and co-infections at bay....BUT...its highly stressed and seriously has forgotten that *some* things are OK....not *everything* needs to be attacked.

OMG....I hope the BioSET ladies can fix this.

Judy,

My BioSet treatments dont address the Lyme....that is for my Dr. to do.

The Bioset is for getting some things that are "broken" back into working order. Also.....of course....the main thing is eliminating all these chemical and food sensitivities. Thats what the BioSet treatments are for. Ulimately, by getting my immune system to calm down and not react to all of these innocent food and environmental things....it will take a huge load off of my immune system. It will give it more energy and strength for fighting the Lyme. :)

My Dr. is still waiting for more bloodtests to come back from Igenix. He hasnt started me on treatment for the Lyme yet because he is waiting to see what co-infections I have. I see him in a couple weeks so then I might actually start *doing* something to actively treat the Lyme.

Samento is an herbal supplement and the form I am taking is the extract. I know there are people who swear by the salt/c and say that it will take care of all the co-infections but many people on the salt/c are doing Samento too, so <_< There are also people who think the Samento alone will work but I don't know. Stephen Buhner in "Healing Lyme" says the study most often quoted to back this up is flawed because people were using other healing modalities.

I am thinking there is no one answer.

He does talk about the ability of Samento to increase the CD57 white blood cell count and that those who have used antibiotics to treat the Lyme have lower counts. I wonder if all of us who have taken antibiotics over the years also have a low CD57.

He also talks about the prevention of Lyme with specific herbs. I haven't spent much time on that part of the book. :P:lol:

I did not have mono either, that I know of. I got really sick, and I mean really, a couple months into my first year of college (1990). I went to the health center and they just gave me antibiotics for it. They didn't even test me for anything and chalked it up to living in a dorm and being in a college setting (could have been mono  ) But anyway, that is just a short time after I was forced to get a measles immunization in order to be admitted. I was never really the same after that.

I don't remember ever spotting a tick on myself. So, not sure what to think about that...

But I have always had lots of infections, my whole life, lots of strep, sinus infections, and was on lots of antibiotics early on for this as well as acne. And digestive difficulties, which match up with celiac symptoms, began for me oh around 6 grade/middle school age and progressively got worse.

Laura, thanks so much for your post. You are right, I have a great source of information and support in Rachel and rinne, as well as everyone else on this thread. I am thinking of you too and hope you can find answers for yourself :) I wish that for everyone here!

Rachel, can you believe it??:lol: I'm actually very calm and collected about it. Maybe it is the calm before the storm  . The bioscan is a computer as well, yes, when you describe the bioset there are so many similarities. Again, I am very glad to have you and everyone here in this thread for support.

Judy, thanks, you are so sweet. The bioscan is a mode of Bioenergetics. It's based on acupuncture principles, and while I dont quite understand everything about it, it always seems to be right on. I am not sure if there is a link on it, but I will look for you to see what kind of info I can find :) Main stream medical definitely frowns upon it, although some are coming around, but there are a lot of critics.

Andrea, we will always need you as our cheerleader

The good news is that when I become a BioSET lady.....I'll be able to go into full scientificness about the whole thing. :D

Hmmmm.....I wonder if being a BioSET lady means I could treat myself!! That would be WAY cool......and WAY cheaper too! :o

No coincidence. Recent revisions to gluten challenge guidelines call for the daily consumption of at least 10g of gluten (about the amount in 4-6 slices of wheat bread) for a minimum of 3 weeks. If possible, I would extend that two weeks to ensure valid testing.
    • SilkieFairy
Thank you both for the replies. I decided to bring back gluten so I can do the blood test. Today is Day #2 of the Challenge. Yesterday I had about 3 slices of whole wheat bread and I woke up with urgent diarrhea this morning. It was orange, sandy and had the distinctive smell that I did not have when I was briefly gluten free. I don't know if it's a coincidence, but the brain fog is back and I feel very tired.

@Jane02, I hear you about the kale and collard greens.  I don't do dairy and must eat green leafies, too, to get sufficient calcium.  I must be very careful because some calcium supplements are made from ground up crustacean shells.  When I was deficient in Vitamin D, I took high doses of Vitamin D to correct the deficiency quickly.  This is safe and nontoxic.  Vitamin D level should be above 70 nmol/L.  Lifeguards and indigenous Pacific Islanders typically have levels between 80-100 nmol/L.   Levels lower than this are based on amount needed to prevent disease like rickets and osteomalacia. We need more thiamine when we're physically ill, emotionally and mentally stressed, and if we exercise like an athlete or laborer.  We need more thiamine if we eat a diet high in simple carbohydrates.  For every 500 kcal of carbohydrates, we need 500-1000 mg more of thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  If there's insufficient thiamine the carbs get stored as fat.  Again, recommended levels set for thiamine are based on minimum amounts needed to prevent disease.  This is often not adequate for optimum health, nor sufficient for people with absorption problems such as Celiac disease.  Gluten free processed foods are not enriched with vitamins like their gluten containing counterparts.  Adding a B Complex and additional thiamine improves health for Celiacs.  Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  Thiamine helps the mitochondria in cells to function.  Thiamine interacts with each of the other B vitamins.  They are all water soluble and easily excreted if not needed. Interesting Reading: Clinical trial: B vitamins improve health in patients with coeliac disease living on a gluten-free diet https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19154566/ Safety and effectiveness of vitamin D mega-dose: A systematic review https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34857184/ High dose dietary vitamin D allocates surplus calories to muscle and growth instead of fat via modulation of myostatin and leptin signaling https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38766160/ Safety of High-Dose Vitamin D Supplementation: Secondary Analysis of a Randomized Controlled Trial https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31746327/ Vitamins and Celiac Disease: Beyond Vitamin D https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11857425/ Investigating the therapeutic potential of tryptophan and vitamin A in modulating immune responses in celiac disease: an experimental study https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40178602/ Investigating the Impact of Vitamin A and Amino Acids on Immune Responses in Celiac Disease Patients https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10814138/

Thank you so much @knitty kitty for this insightful information! I would have never considered fractionated coconut oil to be a potential source of GI upset. I will consider all the info you shared. Very interesting about the Thiamine deficiency.  I've tracked daily averages of my intake in a nutrition software. The only nutrient I can't consistently meet from my diet is vitamin D. Calcium is a hit and miss as I rely on vegetables, dark leafy greens as a major source, for my calcium intake. I'm able to meet it when I either eat or juice a bundle of kale or collard greens daily haha. My thiamine intake is roughly 120% of my needs, although I do recognize that I may not be absorbing all of these nutrients consistently with intermittent unintentional exposures to gluten.  My vitamin A intake is roughly 900% (~6400 mcg/d) of my needs as I eat a lot of sweet potato, although since it's plant-derived vitamin A (beta-carotene) apparently it's not likely to cause toxicity.  Thanks again!
    • knitty kitty
Hello, @Jane02,  I take Naturewise D 3.  It contains olive oil.   Some Vitamin D supplements, like D Drops, are made with fractionated coconut oil which can cause digestive upsets.  Fractionated coconut oil is not the same as coconut oil used for cooking.  Fractionated coconut oil has been treated for longer shelf life, so it won't go bad in the jar, and thus may be irritating to the digestive system. I avoid supplements made with soy because many people with Celiac Disease also react to soy.  Mixed tocopherols, an ingredient in Thornes Vitamin D, may be sourced from soy oil.  Kirkland's has soy on its ingredient list. I avoid things that might contain or be exposed to crustaceans, like Metagenics says on its label.  I have a crustacean/shellfish/fish allergy.  I like Life Extension Bioactive Complete B Complex.  I take additional Thiamine B 1 in the form Benfotiamine which helps the intestines heal, Life Extension MegaBenfotiamine. Thiamine is needed to activate Vitamin D.   Low thiamine can make one feel like they are getting glutened after a meal containing lots of simple carbohydrates like white rice, or processed gluten free foods like cookies and pasta.   It's rare to have a single vitamin deficiency.  The water soluble B Complex vitamins should be supplemented together with additional Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine and Thiamine TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) to correct subclinical deficiencies that don't show up on blood tests.  These are subclinical deficiencies within organs and tissues.  Blood is a transportation system.  The body will deplete tissues and organs in order to keep a supply of thiamine in the bloodstream going to the brain and heart.   If you're low in Vitamin D, you may well be low in other fat soluble vitamins like Vitamin A and Vitamin K. Have you seen a dietician?
