LYMDERDIDA GUADALUPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! is that Rachel's spaceship?

:lol::lol:

OMG....I know....its hysterical. Yesterday while driving to Manteca I thought about Lymerdida Guadalupe and just started cracking up!!

How funny!!.....and yeah...its a name for my spaceship that Miss Lisa Marie came up with....she wanted the spaceship's name to include Lyme, Mercury and Candida.....Guadalupe adds a "latin flare" to it.:lol:

and Rachel - - what about the yams? I might not have been around for that part.....

That was last summer....I ate massive amounts of sweet potatoes (I think about 8 a day?? ).

I think I got really brainfogged and just plain out of my mind....spilled out all kinds of mushiness to my ex. You'd think I had been out partying and had a few too many drinks.

and RACHEL!!!!! get a HOLD of yourself!!!! the EX's are TOXIC, they really are! stay away, just stay away!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

LOL....yeah....you think I would learn by now!!!

I remember telling you all this last year.....as if I were handling things soooo much better.

Hello....obviously I'm regressing here.

So, should I not share that I can now eat peanut butter, and made Eric a frozen peanut butter cheesecake for his bday in April?

(i am actually eating everything but gluten, eggs, and edy's ice cream, which bothers me for some reason)

Laura...thats AWESOME!! :D

I cant wait to get to that point!!!

I can eat tons of eggs now...no problems with eggs...can still eat the ice cream (but I'm staying away in hopes that NOT feeding the fungus will allow me more food choices later on).

The yeast is out of control....intolerances to fungi and mold is through the roof.....if not for that I think I could eat most foods w/out problems. :(

Anyways I'm so glad this year your B-day is going so well. You got your wish that you wanted for Xmas last year. :)

I think it is important to pay attention to how foods taste to you, I am thinking our tastebuds are the first line of defense and that we have forgotten how to pay attention to what they are telling us.

I must respectfully disagree.

Well, I for one would LOVE to rachel a jar of PB right now, lol. Like my almond and cashew butters, but oh man, I really want me some PB.

Oh, I used to LOVE, LOVE, LOVE PB on toast, with just a little bit of all fruit jam on it. YUM!!!! Miss that for breakfast actually. :(

I'm still having some issues--the nausea and diarrhea came back on Thursday, but I was okay yesterday. I got set off after eating peanut butter, which I've never reacted to before. Who knows? Maybe it's a legume thing?...Isn't it frustrating when a "safe" food sets you off?!?!?

I USED to be able to eat PB without issue, but suddenly in the last few months I just can't do it. Really makes me sad...love my PB on Choc Bumble Bars.

I've got to add that I'm excited about seeing Dr. Elizabeth. You know she and Amy are both good just for the fact that they've trained so much with Klinghardt.

I am very excited FOR you!!! Can't wait to hear all about this!

YAY! I've been having real days lately, too ... which is why I haven't had time to be on here.

I knew it...was just thinking this yesterday!!! You said once a few months ago that when you feel good you're out and about and don't post as much.

She'd put them in their high chairs, put maple syrup on their hands, then give them feathers to play with!!!

I LOVE it!

Actually it involves my ex....the one that causes me stress (and not always intentionally). The one that I cant completely move on from cuz of this heinous illness holding me back.

AW, HUGGGSSSS, Rachel! I don't know why we set ourselves up sometimes, but sometimes we just do. You are strong and you'll figure out what to do and what to do about the consequences if you make the wrong choice.

Because, I totally have a CARB hangover today - - you would NOT believe the amount of snacks I consumed yesterday......it was just a giant carb binge, something I hardly EVER do, and today......UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Feel SICK!!!!!!!!!!! Pizza, cereal, tort. chips, yummy bread from Wh. Foods - - what was I thinking???????????????????

...

these cocktails have magical restorative qualities (Donna!) and do no harm at all. Bev would be jumping on trampolines in NO time!!!

Hey, I jumped on a trampoline today.

So, should I not share that I can now eat peanut butter, and made Eric a frozen peanut butter cheesecake for his bday in April?

I'm so happy you can eat again that you could tell me you ate a whole case of chocolate bumble bars with a case of PB and I'd be thrilled for you!!!

I'm sure it can be true in many cases and it makes perfect sense but going by the 'family' used in biological classification, wheat is in the same family as corn, rice, millet, sorghum, wild rice etc.

Yep, have trouble with all of those things. :(

I still feel that way about some of the stuff that I have no experience with...but some stuff does interest me alot....like the LED.

Same here, and if I hadn't talked to you on this thread for so long I doubt I would have been interested in any of it.

That was last summer....I ate massive amounts of sweet potatoes (I think about 8 a day?? ).

I'm blaming it on the yams! :P

As much as I love my almond butter, I'd go back to peasnut butter in a minute if I could....

Julie, My additional intolerances didn't show up till a few months after I went gluten-free. Up until my diagnosis, I ate everything except dairy. I gave that up a year before because I thought it would help my stomach. I stayed off of it when I saw how much it was making me bloat--my face completely changed a few months off dairy.

The legumes were the last intolerance I figured out. It also made a huge difference in the way I felt.

Are you considering an elimination diet? With Celic, these additional intolerances are not unusual--Rachel gave a good explanation of it earlier upthread.

Tom--I hate Celiac as much as you do!! It took a good chunk out of the last 25 years :angry: And citric acid--ugh, that kills me!

Glad to see that Carla could help you with the plaquenil question, I haven't taken any ABX for the Lyme.

Plaquenil is not an antibiotic. It is used as a cyst buster ... it is a pharmaceutical though, so I know you haven't used it.

I have learned way too much about pharmaceuticals ... maybe I should become a pharmacist!

I'm sorry that there is lingering sadness, I hope as time passes it will too.

Some guys you can never forget, but you can move on and find room in your heart for another.

YAY!

I can eat peanut butter and drink fruit juice (both have mold) ... but not more than once or twice per week.

I just saw a member with the name "Wheatfarmer w/ Celiac" Well that must really suck!!

OK...so this article gives a good explanation of what the Dr.'s are saying is going on with me....and a good explanation of why I'm taking alot of minerals, N.A.C, the B12 shots, etc.

All this stuff that I'm doing right now so that my body can later on tolerate and benefit from chelation.

Restore normal metabolism.

Many of the symptoms arising from "amalgam illness" are believed to result from a persistent immune activation wasting away nutritional resources, and direct disturbances in trace mineral metabolism.

Depletion of intracellular glutathione stores are a common result of extended immune activation and from extended mercury exposure. This depletion can be directly related to symptoms of poor immune response and symptoms of hypothyroidism (low thyroid), among many other problems.

In a healthy state the body's stores of glutathione come to the defense by binding circulating mercury as it oxidizes, and carrying the metal in the waste flow via the liver and kidneys. A slow down in this natural process may be the first step in immune sensitization, allowing mercury levels to build to a level that enrages the immune system.

An activated immune system further consumes body stores of glutathione, possibly leaving the body even more sensitive and with less defense against the continuous exposure of toxic dental mercury.

Restoring intracellular glutathione, antioxidants, B-vitamins, and rare trace minerals are the long term remedy for many of the symptoms of "amalgam illness". Metabolic restoration can begin even when the suspect metals are still in the teeth.

For some people, IV preparations of nutrients will be required at first to by-pass disrupted digestion and absorption.

Others can go straight to much less expensive oral supplements such as "Defense & Replenish" and "Glutathione Precursors" from CFS Nutrition.

Reduce the body burden of mercury.

There are several drugs and at least one nutrient that seem quite effective in enhancing the body's detoxification rate of extracellular mercury. Each of these are described as a "dithiol" compound.

DMPS is an experimental drug, legally available in the USA only from medical researchers under special FDA license.

DMSA is available for prescription under a general FDA approval, though its primary approval is for eliminating a body burden of lead, not mercury.

Alpha lipoic acid is a naturally occurring compound found in very small amounts in potatoes and other foods, and is available over-the-counter as a food supplement.

In doses able to heavily influence the excretion of mercury, all of these compounds have anecdotal problem reports. One reason that seems likely is the further disregulation of important trace minerals caused by these powerful chelating agents. Dithiols pull strongly on essential minerals and not just heavy metals like mercury and lead.

You should know there is an ongoing controversy regarding the safety of dithiol chelators and the use of DMPS in particular. Visit Jana's DMPS Backfire website for information you may not recieve at a DMPS chelation clinic.

It has been our observation that people wo are on a more sure metabolic footing nutritionally seem to cope with chelation drugs better.

The safest strategy we know for mercury detoxification is to rely upon the body's natural glutathione pathway.

This strategy is based on chronic use of 3-5 grams of Glutathione Precursor amino acids per day for periods of months. Glutathione's role is detoxification, blunting the toxicity of mercury, and excretion of mercury out of the body. Glutathione excretion of mercury is slower than with chelating agents, but beleived to be much safer providing a person with the other benefits of increased glutathione in the process.

So right now I'm on the Glutathione Precursers, amino acids (whey protein), increased doses of minerals (to build these up for what might be depleted during chelation) and I'll be getting started on the B12 shots .

Right now my body wont be able to handle chelation.....by doing all of these other things first it should go alot smoother later on. :)

Some guys you can never forget, but you can move on and find room in your heart for another.

I'm not letting anyone come into my life in that way until I'm better. Surprisingly, I've actually stuck to my guns on this one.

I'm not saying 100% recovered but just until I start really letting go of some of this toxic overload and can eat more food. I'm way too restricted right now.

I'm really hoping to start seeing some improvement with the B12...but I havent heard anything from the pharmacy yet. :(

I emailed Amy about it.....hopefully I'll hear something on Monday.

I definately want to start having some fun in my life again. :D

Oh....I would be just as content eating a jar of almond butter....unfortunately I cant have either!!

How unfair is that!!

Hi, Rachel--Your explanation of hidden intolerances makes a lot of sense. Thanks for explaining that!

Hi, Patti--I keep feeling like I'm just shooting in the dark. The intolerances keep coming, and I never know what's going to set me off. I haven't done an elimination diet. I really, really should. I think I'm afraid to, though--what else is possibly lurking that I haven't found yet? Soon, I'll just be down to chicken and eggs! (which I eat in large quantities already!)

Hi, Rinne--I'll definitely have to look for almond butter. My local Kroger carries one brand that I know of (but I can't remember the name). Are most brands safe? (as far as gluten free, dairy free, soy free, etc....)

And a big Hello to everyone else! Off to eat dinner!

Hi Everyone.

Happy Fathers DayHappy B day Laura hope you have a sh*#ty day. ;) You know what I mean.

I feel really bad today. Haven't even ate yet. Last night I felt everything move around.

Move around in my guts with pain. THe only thing I took different was the whey protein powder.

Is it normal for your stomach to grow and then get flat and then puff up again? I feel everthing

in my bowels puffing up and everything. What is this, anyone, anytakers.

I don't want to eat today or ever. It must be bad for someone with mercury to not want to eat or don't eat but I'm just not up to it no more. I wonder what it is. :(

I'm sure it can be true in many cases and it makes perfect sense but going by the 'family' used in biological classification, wheat is in the same family as corn, rice, millet, sorghum, wild rice etc.

I think between Family and Species is Genus, which would then be what wheat, rye & barley share.

That's true. I think it's more specific between species I guess. The only grains I seem to handle are rice, and corn (although I don't have much corn). I use sorghum flour in my bread but I don't always eat alot of that either. If I became intolerant to rice I don't know what I'd do....

We've been giving Talitha cashew butter since the sesame butter was recalled. She lasted about 3-4 days and now it's causing her problems. :( She's just going to have to have plain bread with fruit spread. Poor girl has so many intolerances and she's only 7. :(

What day is it on...did I miss that??

The 28th. You guys won't see me on til the afternoon sometime. Our appointment is at 10.....I was told to be there at 9:30. We have to leave here around 6:15 even though it only takes 2 hours 20 minutes with no traffic. Mitch says it's a bugaboo even at 9 still. Since he drives all day long I figure he knows best. I figure we won't be out of there before 12 so back home around 2:30 or so. Mitch'll be driving....I'm not awake enough that early in the morning.

I'm seriously considering leaving all the children home and braving the 6-7 hour drive one way to Spokane next year for my amalgam removal. I don't think they'd take kindly to a 12-14 hour car ride in one day. Don't know how I'd do either  . Mitch is used to those kind of hours.....he drives up to 11 hours a day.....that's the most allowed.

I'm going to the Bellevue office. Dr. Elizabeth spends most of her time there.

Good stuff from Klinghardt on mercury toxicity...testing, diagnosing, treatment, etc..

Heres some tid-bits...

unreliable lab method used, to diagnose Hg

Not every method can detect Hg in every possible Hg compound. Usually

Hg has to be knocked of its chemical bond, before it can be detected via

the different methods. People can have high levels of Hg bonded firmly to

some substance in the urine, which escapes detection.

suggestions:

- doubt a low mercury reading, when history and symptoms suggest mercury toxicity

- change labs from time to time (for the same patient)

- split sample from time to time

- communicate with the lab-director

diagnosis by clinical symptoms

Hg has been called "the great imitator". There is virtually no medical condition that has not been caused by Hg or is not aggravated by it. It is therefore not sufficient to suspect Hg toxicity in a given compartment based on the patient

I must respectfully disagree.

:)

 Why thank you.

I read something recently regarding super-tasters, non-tasters and somewhere in between tasters. Clearly I am talking about super-tasters. :P:lol:

I have a friend who's younger sister was extemely allergic to peanuts and other substances, subsequently she grew up in a house where her sister was given permission to only eat what she wanted to eat.

My friend had a child, she was told her son would never be capable of learning. She had observed that there were a number of foods he didn't want to eat and because of her experience with her sister she never forced any food on him.

He is a bright young man who has just entered university, not without a struggle, he has had to work very hard.

Given how corrupted most people's taste buds are now I would have to agree with you that just eating what you think tastes good is a mistake. I am not talking about the average deluded taste buds though. :P

.....

I buy the Nuts To You organic almond butter but I don't know if you can get it in the states. I am not a fan of Marantha and that is the only other one I know.

I bought a case of almonds and made some of my own, it was great but just about on par with the Nuts to You and the cost was about the same.

Rachel, I am appreciating all the scientificness. :)

Most of my amalgams are over 20 years old so maybe they don't have much "stuff" left in them. Wishful thinking?

Oh daa-yum, that's no fun at all.

I can't have corn, but rice etc are fine.

I'm pretty sure the corn problem was induced by leaky gut tho. So the day should come when it's ok again.

Okay the stuff on Klinghardt,

So I wonder if I should stop any detox thing right now? I don't want to mobilize the mercury from the almagams. I wonder if this is making me sicker. And with the constipation and leaky gut. I just don't know what to do.

Not everything works the same....you'll have to do alot of research on the subject to really understand what does what.

Ok...charcoal....it detoxifies mercury from the gut...nowhere else. It wont pull any mercury from your amalgams...its not a chelator...it doesnt work that way.

What it does is REMOVE the mercury that is in your gut....when the mercury that you're absorbing from your amalgams reaches your gut...the charcoal can bind with it and get it out of there.

Otherwise you can just let more and more mercury accumulate in your gut (and other body parts) and do nothing about it. That would not be a good idea.

You will be sicker if you dont do anything to help your body to detox. The whey and the charcoal arent going to chelate mercury from your fillings. They are not chelators. You are not taking any chelators right now....you wont be needing to take chelators anytime soon....and definately not before your fillings are all out.

Some detox is necessary to remove the mercury that is ALREADY sitting in your body.....not doing anything about it at all is not going to help you. Take the things your Dr. gives you for detox and protection of mercury that gets absorbed during amalgam removals. If you dont do anything you'll be worse off later on.

Nothing your doing with supplements is mobilizing mercury from the fillings.

What Dr. Klinghardt is talking about are things that mobilize mercury that is already moving around your body....mercury that is already sitting in your gut. You DO want to mobilize this "extracellular" mercury....you wanna get it OUT.

Detox and chelation are two totally seperate things. You WANT your body to detox the mercury that is poisoning you. You dont want to do too much of it though....not more than what your body can handle.

This is not something you can do on your own.....you need a very good Dr. to guide you through. I dont even think its a good idea to continue with the removals until you have a good Dr. to work with you on this.

Definately choosing not to take any charcoal or protective supplements before and after amalgam removals would be a BIG mistake. It will leave you worse off. If you're not taking anything to help detox during this process its just asking for more trouble.

This is why you need a good Dr. to help you understand and to give you the right treatment during the removals and after everything is done.

We haven't tried hazelnut butter with her. She's intolerant to almonds, walnuts, peanuts (even though they aren't technically a nut) and cashews that we know of. I don't remember whether she reacted to pecans or not.

Lisa,

I second and third what Rachel and Donna have said.

YOU NEED A GOOD DOCTOR THAT CAN GUIDE YOU THROUGH THIS!

Klinghardt has stated over and over again that detox and chelation are not something to be taken on by an individual without a knowledgeable doctor supervising.

NoGluGirl Contributor

Dear Rachel,

Carla-ing is an art. :) Most of us cannot do it properly! That would be cool if your doctor told you to eat a doughnut a day! Maybe that is where my brother got that Debbie Cakes are medicine? That would make sense.

Right after eating my snickerdoodles last night, I got sick. I do not know if it was the cinnamon maybe? I ate them today with no reaction. WTH? This is driving me crazy! I know dried spices are bad for you because of the mold, and I could swear I felt my head swelling and getting full (stuffy) right away!

Polyps in the uterus? Is that what you are talking about to Christine? I wonder if something is going on like that with me. My doctor thinks it is the shot. I asked the pharmacist, and he says that is common with the Depo. I just thought it was odd after all of these years that it would suddenly start that.

AAAKKKKK! Now I am scared of nuts! Toxic mold that is a carcinogen is terrifying! Now we can never eat nuts? WTH? Between E. Coli outbreaks with spinach and peanut butter, and ground beef, now this? We are going to run out of options for food!

I love all of the scienficness you posted! Mercury is a problem. As it says, if the patient is going to continually take in poison, there is no point in treatment. There are times I have eaten two whole cans of tuna per week! That is loaded with mercury I am sure! There are other factors as well that involve mercury exposure, that are not dental.

Dear tom,

Yeah, Auxigro is real! It is also HEINOUS! That stuff should not be put on food! Produce is treated with it. All kinds of nasty reactions can occur.

You are right. Anaphylaxis is extremely deadly. :o Most people who have those types of reactions must carry an Epi-Pen with them at all times. If they come into contact with what they are so allergic to, their throat will close up and they will die within five minutes. An ambulance would not make it quick enough. My best friend knew someone who had to have a court order just to carry hers with her because our school corporation's rules would not allow it unless it was administered by the nurse. The problem with that is, the girl could have died before the nurse brought the medication and administered it.

Dear Lisa,

I hope you are doing better today. The whey protein might help. It takes time to see results, though. Sometimes it will take a week or two before you notice any improvement. Natural supplements are like that. Keep us updated!

I know that horrible feeling you experience in your colon. I get all of the time. It feels like your colon is swelling and then contracting. That is from irritation. I know what you mean about not wanting to eat. I dread getting hungry, because I know what I eat will likely make me feel bad. :(

Dear Julie,

I have been having the exact same trouble you have been dealing with! I have been feeling sick after eating a lot of different foods. I can eat something one day, and not get sick. Then, I eat the next day, and get really sick. Leaky-Gut is the only thing I can figure.

Peanut butter does us all in, I think. I miss eating it. I can rachel it, baby! I love it with so many things! Peanut butter and jelly is of course a favorite. Plus, eating that stops me from wanting sugar so much. However, my situation lately has been highly sensitive. I am so tired of suffering!

Dear Andrea,

Dr. Elizabeth seems to have an interesting approach. I am going to check out that page some more soon. I really am glad you gave us that URL. This is interesting stuff. Naturopaths are not something you find around here very often. In fact, the only holistic physician I know of is mine.

I am so sorry to hear about poor Micah's tummy troubles. I can relate to those all too well! :( It is not fair he has to be sensitive to chocolate. Poor little fella! Maybe he will be able to tolerate it eventually.

My father used to make pancakes every Sunday when I was young. No one makes pancakes better than Dad! They are better than any you could get anywhere! I miss being able to eat them. However, I have applied his recipe to my own, with some gluten and dairy ammendments. Dad also taught me how to make great chili and beef vegetable soup!

Dear Carla,

Herxes are so hard to get through! I bet that is why the Flagyl nearly did me in. My mother is now saying she believes me being Celiac is possible, but not Lyme. She used to check my everytime I came in. I told her, the tick might have hidden itself where you could not see it. I wish she would make up her mind!

She and Dad flip back and forth. One second, they are agreeing with me, the next second, they are telling me there is no way I could have any of this stuff. What is the deal? This is driving me nuts! It is so rediculous!

So you are having female troubles too? What trouble are you having? Me, Christine, and you are in the Menstruation Frustration Club, huh? You know what is really stupid? That Always commercial. Have A Happy Period?!

There is no such thing as a happy period! It is obvious a man wrote that slogan. How stupid can you get? That is like "Have fun with that Herpes!" or how about "Enjoy that arthritis!" Now that is an idiotic commercial!

I am glad to hear the Babs is improving. Those symptoms can really get irritating quickly. I get the air-hunger, and cannot always hold the notes when I am singing. Some days I do alright, and other days not. It varies from day to day. The heart pounding can really bother you, though. That one is constant.

Adam's grandmother had an unusual idea to keep them busy! My grandmother never would have done that! She has always been OCD clean! This is a woman who vaccuumed as soon as supper was over! She cleaned the table and everything else!

Dear Patti,

I get hungry almost all of the time as well. What is worse is you are queasy. Those two are a lousy combo. Why couldn't we not get hungry when we are queasy? You know, something more normal?

Dear Rinne,

Have the vision problems gone away? I know they cleared up yesterday. I was hoping they did not return. Mine are off and on. My allergies cause some of it. The Thyroid is also adding to it.

I found out in high school I am a super taster! I like veggies, though. However, some things taste much stronger to me than they do to others. I like fresh spinach, but cannot stand cooked spinach! I never could understand how anyone could eat that!

That was so hilarious about you and the tissues and honey! I did some silly stuff when I was a kid, too. I made some huge messes. I was a little artist even at 3. My mother spanked me because I drew circles under the window on the wall!

Dear Christine,

I hope you do not have polyps. I would not be surprised, though. I would not be shocked if I had them, either. This constant bleeding is really hard to deal with. Plus, you cramp all the time off and on. That of course, makes me crave chocolate worse, too.

Dear Susie,

Nojitos! Now that is an interesting sounding drink! Did they take you to a magical place? I do not know if magnesium citrate would make you feel good. I would be careful with that stuff. I have found it is good to take others' word for it with certain things.

Take for instance, the ratemypoo.com site. I knew if it was said to be that disgusting, I would not go there! I am sorry poor Judy did not get to side step that one! Let's just say there are some things you are better off not knowing or seeing! Morbid curiousity can be deadly!

Dear Bev and Donna,

Yep, that magnesium citrate is Drano for your scat zone! I think Donna is right, that it would be an outgoing fart.

If you fart inside that can be really bad! What if you exploded? Too many beans could be deadly you know!

Dear Donna,

I hope Rachel does not overdo the yams! We know what happened the last time! She needs to be careful! There are dangers that lurk in the most innocent foods! I have experienced that pain.

Dear Mia,

I hope you are doing well today. Maybe that new therapist will be able to fix your stomach woes. The Lyme needs treated, though. That and yeast will really complicate matters. Combinations like that are normally the trouble. It is rarely one single thing causing all of the problems.

Dear Laura,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AGAIN! :) It sounds like you and Eric are having quite the celebration! It must be nice! I always get depressed on my birthday. It makes me feel old. At least the last two years, I did not cry on my birthday. That is definitely an improvement.

Dear Judy, Alison, and Jenny,

Where are you? Do you have any appointments this week? Are you okay? No one has heard much from you lately.

Have you gone AWOL?

Sincerely,

Jin

P.S. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL FELLAS! :)

Jin, this cracks me up. I have horrendous periods, and there *is* no such thing as a happy period--MUST be men who made that commercial!

And, I figure it's leaky gut, too. What a great thing to have. Why can't I react to gross foods, like broccoli (I HATE broccoli!), while foods like cookies and chocolate and cheese make my tummy happy? My homeopath asked me if I could eat any food what would it be, and I yelled, CHEESE! Boy, do I miss cheese!

My GOODness Jin! Don't u cover a lot in one post!!!!!!!!

I have been feeling sick after eating a lot of different foods. I can eat something one day, and not get sick. Then, I eat the next day, and get really sick. Leaky-Gut is the only thing I can figure.

I've looked into Leaky-Gut a ton and never heard about day-to-day variation like that. How about the possibilty that the source of the problem was consumed the day before? Or the day before that? It happens. Donna mentioned hers in another thread earlier today.

She and Dad flip back and forth. One second, they are agreeing with me, the next second, they are telling me there is no way I could have any of this stuff. What is the deal? This is driving me nuts! It is so rediculous!

Tho I can't directly relate, it's easy to see how maddening that would get. I have no idea how I could deal w/ that.

Men! Harrumph!

Glad I didn't scroll TOO fast to realize I can read it. LOL

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind

Thank you for your post, @nanny marley It is interesting what you say about 'It's OK not to sleep'. Worrying about sleeping only makes it much harder to sleep.  One of my relatives is an insomniac and I am sure that is part of the problem.  Whereas I once had a neighbour who, if she couldn't sleep, would simply get up again, make a cup of tea, read, do a sudoku or some other small task, and then go back to bed when she felt sleepy again.  I can't think it did her any harm - she lived  well into her nineties. Last week I decided to try a Floradix Magnesium supplement which seems to be helping me to sleep better.  It is a liquid magnesium supplement, so easy to take.  It is gluten free (unlike the Floradix iron supplement).  Might be worth a try.

It could be a fructan intolerance? How do you do with dates?  https://www.dietvsdisease.org/sorry-your-gluten-sensitivity-is-actually-a-fructan-intolerance/
