If I missed it............but where would Rachelville be, what part of the country? I could offer a pilot, who could fly to Maine and bring back Lobsters and fresh seasonal corn-on-the-cob for the Feast of Sea and Land.

Rusla could do the blessing

We haven't quite decided yet, but some of us like southern Oregon because the ocean isn't far away, it has mountains for skiing and sunshine and rain...basically all four seasons. It also has lakes and streams and no hurricanes and the likelyhood of tornadoes is very slim. Possible occassional earthquakes but nothing like California.

A pilot, add that to your list Celia! Are you still keeping up with the list, or did that switch to Donna...was Donna the secretary?

Dear Girls,

Could you do me a favour please? I'm off on my holidays. Please don't post anything for the next 2 weeks as I'm already about 200 posts behind and will never catch up with the gossip. Feel free to resume posting on July 31st. Thankyou for your cooperation in this matter...

LOL

Matilda...OMG...who knows where this thread will be in 2 weeks.

Maybe Rachelville will be well established by then and we'll all be eating our Auxigro free veggies straight from the gardens. Of course in Rachelville stuff tends to happen pretty quickly so it'll probably only take a day or so for all of our crops to come in and our lake to materialize...heck...it might even be snowing when you get back! :o

Have a great vacation and don't worry about us....we've got the geese and the dingoes so all is good in Rachelville. ;)

Patti...I love the new pic...you look great! :)

Mango,

Learn all you can about farming from the natives in Australia...we'll need your expertise when you get back. OH....and I'm not sure if I've mentioned this already but could you pleeeese bring back a koala bear?? If you could that would be great....just put it in your bag and fly it over to Rachelville where it can live in our trees. That would be soooo cool. We could have a touch of Australia in our own little gluten-free community. :D

I'm on it! If my bag gets inspected I'll just explain that we need koala bears in Rachelville. I'll come back with koala bears and all sorts of really useful farming knowledge :D

Hey everybody....I see the madness continues....

Yes I"ll be your comedian, I am known to be quite silly.....you should see me when I'm drinking.... life of the party but oops, my drinking days are over until winter solstice, when I will re-evaluate. HOly cow, five more months!

Cissie - - - I am morbidly sorry about your wood panelling and your husband's refusal to cooperate aesthetically - - I had that faux wood panelling in Monterey, and my hands literally bled from tearing it off - - took two weeks, oh, had to peel off 60-year-old wallpaper underneath as well - horror - and then I had to sheetrock and plaster the walls (well I hired the sheetrock guy but did plaster myself!) - - well worth it, we could do an intervention for your husband.....oh and the raspberry and cream antique fabric panel should be arriving any day, I am not telling the dealer I am cutting it in half and making it into pillows....

Girls, we definitely need more men-folk on the farm, and, some single ones, PLEEZE....oh yeah, on the other thread aobut men we are discussing my need for a single fabulous veterinarian, I'll bring him to Pleasantville for us :P

What is with Chelsea and the penguin thing...missed that one...

Patti - - - yay! You are gorgeous and you DO look like an angel, we finally get to see you!

Matilda - - - oh we promise, no more posts until you get back... ;) hah! I hope you have a great holiday - - OMG - did I ever answer back your answer to my PM??? can't even remember now.....But hugs and blessings to you, wherever you are, both in your life and geographically, on your travels.

Two dingo girls are staring, crazed with boredom, and I must do SOMETHING to entertain them, the air is noxious and we did not walk today, maybe about...midnight tonight we can go outside??

Just wondering if I have EVER posted anything on this thread that is relevant to topic.....

edit - - mango - - - yes, Koalas for everybody! nasty little buggers, I"ve heard, sorry to disappoint....one other thing to consider, SO many good wineries in Australia, that would be good work and SO much fun - - and I was hired with absolutely no wine experience, they just wanted people with the gift of gab, great fun! Just a thought....

ChelsE,

You could, or you could call me Chelsea, or Chels, whatever. I wanted to change the screenname because everything is googleable and I don't want my mom seeing all the crap I wrote and she know it's me on a google search

I totally forgot I asked scott to change it.

Anyway, new name, but same battime, same bat channel! :D

 Ok, I finally got through all I missed and typed this great post and lost it. So here goes again.

rinne, I am so sorry about your friend. He needs to be in an uplifting environment-not with some medical jerk discussing "end of life issues'

Patti--I love your picture--I agree beautiful. Vincent--how is the adoption process going?

Chelsea-I totally agree with your reasons for changing the name. I have those same concerns too. The spoon story hit home with me --I have fibromyalgia and am always in a conserve energy mode. You learn that the hard way.

Susan--wow, lily of the valley--love those little sweeties. I collect hostas --just started last year and two weeks ago bought a sweet little white flowering one and the day after I planted it, bambi and his gang of deer hoodlums ate it down to little nubs. Of course, this means war, and a trip to your favorite store and mine, (one of them, right?) Lowes- armed me with critter spray. We have deer coming in actual HERDS!! We live in a development !!! Poor things, though. One of the neighbors set out a trough of corn for them, so maybe they will leave my babies alone.

Ok, whose hubby is being left behind in his seventies world? Can my hubby stay with him? They can eat tv dinners and wear goofy clothes all they want.

I have never made the lye soap--only the glycerine. Maybe we could get a big pot and make lye soap on an open fire in rachelville!! I've wanted to try it, but leery of the fumes.

I also am crazy for fabric!!! I collect it too, it is taking over a whole dresser in my spare room. You never know when a quilt or curtain urge may strike. I also love to cook and (sniff) use to bake a lot. I was (another sniff) known as the cookie lady in my little world, so I would like to help out as needed there, but I REFUSE refuse to clean up anyone's poo but my own. Heck, cleaning my own is bad enough--imagine what a community of super stinky crappers will be like.

Fiddle-faddle--I would love the music lessons-I only play the harmonica badly. Maybe we could start an orchestra/jug band. Celia, migraines are the worst- I hope you feel better. They can be such a nightmare, I know. I hope you can get relief. I used to take cafergot and regularly got the phenergan shots when they were so bad. Also demerol -good stuff :) I am partial to my beautiful VA for the site of rachelville. It has it all--beaches, mountains, valleys, history, mild winters, summers, well, ok...a little humid, but nice. Sorry so long, I had a lot to catch up on!!! Sweet dreams all!!

Morning everyone,

Dont know if anyone remembers cuz its been awhile but I was suppossed to take another stool pathogen test that I've been lagging on. My first one back in (I think Feb.) came back positive for C.Diff overgrowth and Candida overgrowth. I took antibiotics for the C.Diff and was suppossed to retest after 1 month. Well...its been about 3 months and I finally thought....maybe I should do the test now.

Anyways I just started it this morning. I have like 4 more samples to provide but hopefully I can get the test shipped to the lab by the end of the week and then possibly get the results back next week or the week after.

ohh.... Ive done that test many times although its not invasive which is not its unpleasant - I feel for you. I am supposed to get these new tests done and have been putting them off. One of them is a 24 hour pee test. I have to stay home and pee in a bucket all day- Can you see why I am putting it off?

Yay...I hope you have good luck with it. :)

I have to reorder today. By the end of the week I'll be done with my first bottle.

I'm kind of hoping the stool test shows a parasite or something this time...something like that would definatelty explain my slow healing process. I think if I had a parasite...which I then got rid of....that combined with the Keto could really help me.

I had another "OMG...I think I might be on to something" moment last night. I'll explain later cuz I'm late for work (as usual).

On my last stool test- I had bad candida but the thing is everything I took to fight it bothered me. I am really hoping the keto will finally heal my messed up intestines so that I can actuall start reaping the benefits of the food I eat and supplements. I feel like now because of the malabsorbtion , leaky gut, candida cycle most of my efforts are in vain( sounds dramatic- but its true)

I always get all nervous everytime I go to the doctor... is there a phobia for doctor's visits?

Iatrophobia - Fear of going to the doctor

Personally, I have Obesophobia...fear of gaining weight

I had to go to target to buy fat clothes last night

I've gained TWENTY POUNDS in the last 6 weeks from this 'effin gluten challenge. SO OBNOXIOUS!!!! Weight watchers August 20th, HERE I COME!

I have both of those conditions too, maybe I should add those to my signature. Mia, the 24 hr. pee thing-is it for kidney function? (I apologize if you mentioned it before) Rachel, Rachel, Rachel, we HAVE to get our mayor well!! I am so hoping the keto works out for you. Omg, you do not want parasites?!!! I understand the reason you said it though -it would make it easier to get to the bottom of things. How many are trying the keto on here? Maybe you should all keep a journal about this, I know Rachel keeps one, and if more than one keeps track of symptoms, etc. this would maybe find common links. Heck, this could be a whole newly discovered "syndrome" It could be like a little "drug trial" that could possibly help a lot of people who are not healing. Just a thought. I am rambling on again, sorry.....

Chelsea--Gotta hand it to ya for sticking with the challange! Everything will even back out when you're able to go off the gluten again :) Still getting used to your new name

Celia--I'm probably too late to wish you luck at the doctor. I went out early this morning--had a few errends to run--and it's going to be so hot again later. I always get very nervous about going to the doctor! (You would think I'd be used to it by now <_< ) So much so that my GP had me buy a blood pressure monitor. I get so anxious, my BP is always way higher in the office--so she has me keep track of it at home.

Rachel--I feel for ya on the stool collecting! I had to do it last year. That liquid they provide for it is so foul smelling

Hi Robbin--I enjoyed your post, and thanks! :D

Hi Miamia--Best of luck on the new meds--I'm jealous!

I'm still doing well on the spring water, I'm happy to report. It has to have something to do with being sensitive to coconut. Maybe? I did some google research last night--coconut is also a pretty common allergen, I didn't know that. I couldn't find any links to problems with filtered water, though.

Iatrophobia - Fear of going to the doctor

I have Iatrophobia too! :( This pm we go to hubbies surgeon for his surgery x-up, hopefully the mass Dr. removed from his R. breast Fri. is benign like the other 2 were. Prayers for us, please. Rachel, I was tested for that c. difficile too but did not have it, hope it is gone. A nurse I met in the hospital said she had it & took antibiotics quite awhile to get rid of it, nasty bugger! I was just gone overnight and post went into another page. Whoever said they had hostas sounds like a buddy of mine, sorry deer are eating your new one and etc. We have slugs eating from bottom, they cut off the leaves, not lost any yet!! :) The small white blooming one I would trade you for a huge white blooming hosta that has sweet perfume. I got it over 25 yrs. ago from my Mom. I put midsize hostas around base of trees (easier to mow & looks good too) think that would be a good thing at Rachelville?? Have a good day all. :) evie

jerseyangel Proficient

Hi Evie--I'm saying a prayer that the news from the doctor will be good today for your husband. It is so difficult to wait for this kind of news. Yes, hopefully, this one will go the same as the others. :)

Guest Robbin
:) Hi evie, will send up prayers for your dear hubby too. That hosta sounds heavenly btw-do you know the name? The one I am trying to "bring back to life" is called "So Sweet" hosta and it only will get about 14" diameter. The flowers were so pure white and delicate-just like a mini daylily. Have a great day everyone!!
DingoGirl Enthusiast

Morning all......

Gosh, lots of doctor appts. and crappy (pun intended ) procedures and tests today......now, every time I pray, just send up a prayer for the whole lot of us on the board, of course, a little extra prayer coverage for the citizens of R-ville..... :)

Rachel, my gosh, I was in such brain fog months ago that I totally forgot you had c.diff. I sure hope that is gone....I told you about my trauma with C. Diff - - -what horror. This was three years ago, and I was off work for one month and my mom had to come take care of me for five days.....oh, and the alcoholic boyfriend who passed out on our first date (discussed in the We Don't need Men threa)? We had just started dating and he slept on my couch almost every night for the whole month I was sick.....so the C-Diff - it was the most explosive, fire hydrant-ish D (and the most foul-smelling - sorry guys) I've ever had, nothing like it. Lost 20 pounds in two weeks, had to go to hospital for IV drip. This was when my precious younger dingo, Annie, started sitting in the bathroom with me, as I moaned and cried on the toilet.....and to this day, she "goes" to the bathroom with me every time I go. (she is the most precious thing, kind of a therapy dog, holds my hand as I pee! and basically never leaves my side.). This episode with C.Diff may, in fact, have been what triggered my full-blown Celiac, as my bowels have never been the same since. Can you imagine, three years of......disgusting and increasingly weirder stuff coming out of my you-know-what, and I think it's due to nerves, so never even discussed it with anyone, until one day I asked my mom if she ever had just streams of...... well never mind. Even on this board I don't like to talk about it! I hope that nasty bugger's gone from you, if it IS still there, I think it shows that your immune system is strong enough to fight it off. But honestly? I think we need a whole team of us, in R-ville, to just lay hands on your intestines and pray like heck for you! Because somethin' ain't right in there...

Robbin - - -the deer - - how I love them but yes, I know they wreak havoc on the garden. And you and Evie have the Hostas....sigh....I love them, yes, we will have them in RVille - - - but the deer? Can we please have deer? WE'll fence our gardens securely......

God bless all of you on your appts. today - - - praying for the best - - -

Gotta walk the girls who are staring way too much at me all the time - - not enough outdoor time lately - - -

Penguin - - like your new name.....

Blessings - -

He is not just a psychiatrist.  He is also a neuroscientist.  And yes, I have already read those studies.   I agree with benfotiamine.  This is short term while glutened/inflammation occurs.  As I had already mentioned, these symptoms no longer exist when this phase passes.  And yes, I know that celiac is a disease of malnutrition.  We are working with a naturopath.

Please do more research before you settle on nicotine. Dr. Paul New house is a psychiatrist.  His latest study involves the effect of nicotine patches on Late Life Depression which has reached no long term conclusions about the benefits.   Effects of open-label transdermal nicotine antidepressant augmentation on affective symptoms and executive function in late-life depression https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39009312/   I'm approaching the subject from the Microbiologist's point of view which shows nicotine blocks Thiamine B1 uptake and usage:   Chronic Nicotine Exposure In Vivo and In Vitro Inhibits Vitamin B1 (Thiamin) Uptake by Pancreatic Acinar Cells https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26633299/   While supplementation with thiamine in the form Benfotiamine can protect from damage done by  nicotine: Benfotiamine attenuates nicotine and uric acid-induced vascular endothelial dysfunction in the rat https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18951979/   I suggest you study the beneficial effects of Thiamine (Benfotiamine and TTFD) on the body and mental health done by Dr. Derrick Lonsdale and Dr. Chandler Marrs.  Dr. Lonsdale had studied thiamine over fifty years.   Hiding in Plain Sight: Modern Thiamine Deficiency https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8533683/ I suggest you read their book Thiamine Deficiency Disease, Dysautonomia, and High Calorie Malnutrition.     Celiac Disease is a disease of malabsorption causing malnutrition.  Thiamine and benfotiamine: Focus on their therapeutic potential https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10682628/

Thanks for your response.  Everything you mentioned he is and has been doing.  Tobacco is not the same as nicotine.  Nicotine, in the form of a patch, does not cause gastrointestinal irritation.  Smoking does. He is not smoking.  Please do your research before stating false information. Dr. Paul Newhouse has been doing research on nicotine the last 40 years at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Im so frustrated and still getting the run around trying to reprove my celiac disease which my past primary ignored for 25 years.I understand that theres a ray of medical that doctors are limited too but not listening and telling the patient ( me) that im not as sensitive as I think and NOT celiac!Correction Mr white coat its not what I think but for cause and affect and past test that are not sticking in my medical records.I get sick violently with foods consumed, not eating the foods will show Im fabulous. After many blood draws and going through doctors I have the HLA- DQ2 positive which I read in a study that Iran conducted that the severity in celiac is in that gene.Im glutenfree and dealing with related issues which core issue of celiac isn't addressed. My skin, right eye, left leg diagestive issues affected. I have high blood pressure because im in pain.Im waisting my time on trying to reprove that Im celiac which is not a disease I want, but unfortunately have. It  has taken over my life personally and professionally. How do I stop getting medically gaslight and get the help needed to bounce back if I ever do bounce back to normal? I thought I was in good care with " celiac specialist " but in her eyes Im good.Im NOT.Sibo positive, IBS, Chronic Fatigue just to name a few and its all related to what I like to call a ghost disease ( celiac) since doctors don't seem to take it seriously.
    • trents
@Martha Mitchell, your reaction to the lens implant with gluten sounds like it could be an allergic reaction rather than a celiac reaction. It is possible for a celiac to be also allergic to gluten as it is a protein component in wheat, barley and rye.
