Yesterday, I let DS (3) have some of my pasta for his lunch as he's always wanting whatever I've got instead of what he's got. I said: you've got some of mummy's special pasta. DS said: but I don't like it. I asked him why and he replied: cos it's got gluten-free in it :D He also said later to DH: mummy's gluten free....to eat!! he's now making sure everything I eat is gluten-free. :) I'm so proud of him. Unfortunately, though, when I sneaked some chocolate later in the day, he came upstairs and found me, gave me a big hug and observed that I smelled of chocolate. Can't have chocolate on the sly anymore..

When I first started this I was sitting down to dinner one day and my 8 year old saw me drinking a glass of water and said "can you have that? Is it gluten-free?"

I should have added that DS ate every last bit of the pasta. He loves my gluten-free free stuff :D

I love kids!!

My daughters 5 and 3 always ask if this or that is gluten free! It makes me feel good that they want to "take care" of mommy! They have both agreed that their birthday cakes (coming this summer) should be gluten free- so mommy can have some! Like I said I Love Them!!!!!!

Lollie

Isn't it so wonderful, that our kids care so much!?! My teenagers help me read labels in the grocery store.

Isn't it amazing what our kids absorb from us? My nine year-old has diagnosed more unknowing celiacs than I have, I think, including his teacher, who he heard complaining of tiredness and abdominal pain, and a boy on his baseball team who was also complaining of the classic symptoms. What extraordinary kids we have!

Kids are way smarter than educated grown ups! :)

They haven't had time to get dumb ideas in their heads yet...

ChelsE- You are so funny.

Mine is my 76 year old Dad- who getss it as best as he can. One day at lunch the waitress brought over a loaf of bread and he looked at her in complete horror and said, 'she can't have that- she's gluten-free," The waitress replied, "Yes, sir, but you can." :P he was like oh yeah, right.

That is sooo cute!

My daughter Eileen, who is 12, thinks anything and everything that is gluten free just sucks.

Well, for Easter dinner, when my Mom was making the gravy, I gave her my gluten free flour mix and my gluten free stock to put in the gravy as Mom had forgotten to bring the stuff to make the gravy (It's made from the juice in the turkey pan and since the turkey has stuffing in it, I never have the turkey or gravy anyway.......)

Well, we are all sitting down eating and there were three different compliments on how this is the best gravy Mom had made to date. Even Eileen chimed in that it tasted delicious! Mom and I were chuckling the whole time! I couldn't keep it in any longer and told everyone that it my gluten free stuff that created such a wonderful tasting gravy. Eileen's jaw dropped onto her plate!

Hugs.

My son is too young yet to have those little idiosyncrasies. But for a laugh, my family exchanges colored Easter eggs on Easter. We write the persons name on it.. and color it and just give it to them.. I got 2 eggs this year, one was a pink one with my name on it. The other was not colored with Gluten Free written on it. I got quite a chuckle out of that.

Tinkerbell- that is awesome!

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?

Thankyou so much for your words. Its a hard battle when a supposed well known hospital whose celiac " specialist " has down played me because my colon looks fine and put it in my medical and so pcp doesn't take seriously. In their eyes we all carry that gene.Im having alot of bad days trying to be positive because of it.
