TV Guide for 5/9 describes the House episode as : Foreman returns to work, but his mental acuity isn't what is was; a mother almost drowns her baby in the bathtub. NEW

jenvan Collaborator

Hope its the foreman that has Celiac and not the mom! Don't want us to get a bad rap :)

Hey.....I thought that the Celiac episode was going to be on 5/09......Does the episode that came on last night (5/02) have anything to do with the one next week? Am I missing something?

Vincent and Jeny--Last night was part 1 of a 2 part episode that concludes tonight at 8 PM eastern. Next week, 5/9 is the episode dealing with Celiac.

If it is Foreman that has it, and this week's two-parter refers to him getting sick, then all three episodes are actually tied in together. I hope it's not the mother that almost drowns her baby! Foreman having it would actually be good, then maybe they could continue the storyline through successive episodes, and maybe would understand more about us! Especially if they showed Foreman having to be extremely careful of cross-contamination!

Karen--A policeman was shot, and came to the ER with strange additional symptoms that the team tried to figure out. Dr Foreman went to the guy's appt. (that was a pigsty) and collected samples to check for toxins, etc. Dr Foreman begins to show signs of the same illness and is put into a quarantined room with the policeman, who is dying a painful death. The policeman dies, and Dr Foreman is scared to death he is next.

Hope everything is settling down a bit at your house! :)

I'm starting to really dislike this Dr Foreman guy...

Sure! It was weird! A cop was acting high while arresting a thug, and the thug shot him, but the bullet hit his badge ( I think ) and deflected to his temple (so the shot didn't kill him) and he was laying on the ground laughing histaricly (sp?). House didnt see why he would be laughing like that, so he sent the three muskateer's to work. Forman checked out the cops apartment (which included a secret pot house!). They ran "tests" and found nothing wrong with the guy, and not really anything in the apartment or his work. So when the guy got worse, house wanted to do an MRI.

But the cop had a bullet in his brain. So house went to the mourge (sp? again, trying to type this up fast) and shot a corpse in the head and tried to do an MRI on the corpse (to see if the magnet would pull out the bullet) and it did! It was gross. So no MRI for the cop, or the bullet pulling out of his head would kill him. And Forman was laughing at it, and that tipped everyone off that it was not normal for him to be laughing. So they secluded him in a clean room with the cop. And when Cameron went in to draw blood from Forman (she was in a clean suit, you know, all plastic with a hood and O2 supply) he was trying to get her to go back to the apartment, because Forman figures that it has to be something at the apartment b/c he got sick, and he was the one that went to the apartment.

She tells him that House won't let them go back (because look! Forman is sick!) and Forman takes the dirty needle that she just used to draw his blood, and stick her in the leg, breaking the barrier, and exposing her to the mysterious disease. So she goes back to the apartment "to find out what it is, not for Forman, but for me, because now I will get sick" but house shows up outside the apartment b/c he knows all! LOL

So House and Cameron think it has something to do with bird poop and the pot stash, but Chase proves that theory wrong, and the cop crashes and Forman is trying to use the paddles to save him, and then you get the "to be continued"!!!!!!!!!!!

Whew......

(edited, I had "chase" where "cameron" should be LOL

Chase is actually the aussie guy, the girl is Cameron. My friend is actually poker buddies with both of those actors, and I got to meet Hugh Laurie a couple weeks ago, which was awesome. ( and slightly heart pounding)

Oops! Sorry about that! LOL I was trying to type and remember fast! LOL

And that is neato!!! Where do you live? Just wondering where that show is shot. I thought it was in Canada.

elonwy Enthusiast

Nope, its here in LA. The exterior overheads are somewhere else, not sure where, but all the stuff with the actors is done on a sound stage here. Hugh and Jesse ( Chase) relocated to here for the time being, and Cameron has been living here. I work at USC and Brain Singer is an SC grad, so they all came down to talk about the show. It was fun, you can tell they all really like eachother and have fun on set.

Jesse is REALLY cute in person, even cuter than on TV.

Does anyone know if you can watch this online?

Ok, those of you who watched last night's episode, (Wed., nite). Did you see the previews for next week? I'm not sure how Celiac is going to tie in with what I saw in the previews. I hope we're not excited for nothing. Anyone?

possibly because of the seizures... seizures was one of my symptoms. For many years I was dx'ed with non specific seizure disorder. When I was 14 after having surgery to remove a tumor in my skull, I was also tested for epilepsy and had to be on seizure meds for a long time. I didn't have epilepsy so they couldn't figure out why I was having seizures. whenever I get accidentally glutened one of the first symptoms to come back is the seizures. They are really scary.

Just a thought. OUr local chapter of the Gluten Intolerance Group is ogin to air an ad durinthe show to invite folks to our meetings. Thought you might want to do the same.

Mango04 Enthusiast

I'm starting to wonder if the main storyline isn't actually going to be about Celiac. Maybe it'll just tie into one of the subplots...like a girl walks in with a stomach ache and House tells her to stop eating gluten. the end. lol. I hope it's not something like that but you never know..

I am so sorry for you, nini. That must have been really scary. I've heard of people having seizures with gluten, but didn't know that was a symptom you had. I think the only reason I ever got diagnosed was because my body decided to take the "classic celiac symptoms" route. If celiac is affecting the lady they showed with seizures on the preview, that would certainly open the door to the show's story being able to disclose the many varied and seemingly unrelated symptoms that celiac can cause. I know GIG NA did consulting for the show, I just really, really hope the show does a good job for us. I want a sneak peek :)

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind

Thank you for your post, @nanny marley It is interesting what you say about 'It's OK not to sleep'. Worrying about sleeping only makes it much harder to sleep.  One of my relatives is an insomniac and I am sure that is part of the problem.  Whereas I once had a neighbour who, if she couldn't sleep, would simply get up again, make a cup of tea, read, do a sudoku or some other small task, and then go back to bed when she felt sleepy again.  I can't think it did her any harm - she lived  well into her nineties. Last week I decided to try a Floradix Magnesium supplement which seems to be helping me to sleep better.  It is a liquid magnesium supplement, so easy to take.  It is gluten free (unlike the Floradix iron supplement).  Might be worth a try.

It could be a fructan intolerance? How do you do with dates?  https://www.dietvsdisease.org/sorry-your-gluten-sensitivity-is-actually-a-fructan-intolerance/

Thank’s for addressing the issue of mushrooms.  I was under the impression that only wild mushrooms were gluten-free.  Have been avoiding cultivated mushrooms for years. Also, the issue of smoked food was informative.  In France last year, where there is hardly any prepared take-out food that is gluten-free, I tried smoked chicken.  Major mistake!

my IGG is 815 IGA 203  but tTG-Iga is   <0.4!!!!!!!!!!!!!   oh my god- 13 days of agony and the test is negative?  I don't even know what to do next. There zero doubt in my mind that I have an issue with wheat and probably more so with gluten as symptoms are dramatically worse the more gluten a product has   I am going to write up the history of my issues for the past few years and start a food/symptom diary to bring with me to the GI doctor in March.   I googled like crazy to try to find out what other things might cause these symptoms and the only thing that truly fits besides celiac is NCGS   but I guess there are some other things I maybe should be tested for ...? like SIBO?   I will continue to eliminate any foods that cause me distress (as I have been doing for the past couple of years) and try to keep a record. Can anyone recommend an app or some form or something that would simplify this? I have a very full and busy life and taking the time to write out each symptom name in full would be tedious and time consuming- some sort of page with columns to check off would be ideal. I am not at all tech savvy so that's not something I can make myself ... I'm hoping there's some thing out there that I can just download and print out   do I give up on testing for celiac with such a low number? I am 70 yrs old I have been almost completely off gluten for the most part for about 2 yrs. I had a meal of vital wheat gluten vegan roast,  rolls and stuffing made from home baked bread and an apple pie- and had the worst pain and gas and bloating and odd rumblings in my gut etc - almost went to the ER it was so bad. I was thinking, since I'm spilling a lot of calcium in my urine, that perhaps this was a kidney stone (never had one before but there's always that first time, right?)    Saw my endo on Jan 20th and after hearing the story about the symptoms from eating that holiday meal, she suggested doing a gluten challenge. She said 2 weeks was fine- she said stopping it in the middle if symptoms got bad was fine- In the meantime I'd read that 2 weeks was not enough- called and argued with the nurse about this, but ultimately decided to stop the gluten on the 13th day and get the test done because I was in too much pain and almost suicidal and knew I could not continue.   so.............. that's where I am now I have had no bread since Sunday. I did have some rolled oats today and had some gas and bloating afterwards I did have some wheat germ in a smoothie on Tuesday and had a stomach ache later that night.   but overall I feel so much better! all the joint pain is gone! the nausea is gone. The stomach pain and gas and bloating are going away. Still a bit gassy but no more of that horrible odor. wow, that would clear a room if I was out in public!  I see a GI nurse March 4th  I hope she'll be able to help sort this out! can you think of what my next steps might be?
