No No No . . . no one wants that . Not that it will make any difference. Tom, you're a calculating sort and I suspect that the anecdotes will take off exponentially!!! (What do you think? Not nearly as smooth, huh?)

Bravo!! :D I say WELL DONE!

Seems we've found a common denominator, and I appreciate the reciprocation!

<I can't beLIEVE I didn't think of "difference"! :angry: grrrrr>

But, to sum up, we're still staying away from math anecdotes, right? Tales of hexadecimal just don't even APPROACH silly, (for all n from 1 to infinity)

Maybe I asked this before, but we have new blood now. Anyone remember 80s band the Meat Puppets? I think I'm seeing the guitarist's kid's band again tonight. The twerp is WAY too talented.

Parents named him Elmo

I'm much more gooder with numbers.

Well then maybe you (Janet) can provide some Maths (English as the English speak please!) as I am absolutely cr#p with numbers

And some days (or for you, Emily, somedays) you guys make my brain hurt.

Kind of obligatory with this thread

tried it w/ the left and could do it (I'm left-handed) but could not, as predicted, w/ the right. Did not try it ANTI clockwise.

I am a leftie also but either way my poor wee brain goes into meltdown

Just makes you SOUND smart if you use words like "glottals" and "aspirated fricatives"

Doesn't it just?

No idea what they are or do but they sound bloomin' marvellous .............they sound like maybe something the cat would throw up

''What's wrong with your cat??''

''Oh she's only aspirated some fricatives again!!''

Nikkeigh, is that hat only available in the UK? would LOVE to get that for my wacky brother...

'Tis a US site m'dear.

AND a mind-numbing amount of excel spreadsheets.

:unsure: ...scaring me.....don't say those words  ......

Oh, and HELLOOOOOOOOOOOO LYNNE !!!!!!!!! :D:D

Hey, Lynne! I've now shoved my way into this Tickle Me madness...I can't keep up half the time  .

So, I'm noticing a number of southpaws around here, which proves interesting. I'm VERY left-sided (hand, eye, ear, foot, you name it). Who else? I bet we all are, as lefties are the true nuts of any society. :P

Eh? Southpaws??

Who else? I bet we all are, as lefties are the true nuts of any society. :P

:lol::lol: Indeed!!

I think that Carla is also a 'leftie' or is it 'lefty'

Canadian Karen Community Regular

LOL! Southpaws are the American slang for left handed people.

I think perhaps it originates from baseball. Leftie pitchers are called southpaws.......

Karen

elye Community Regular

Early ball fields were built so that home plate faced east. That way, the late afternoon sun wouldn't be in the batter's eyes, a dangerous situation when a baseball is thrown in your direction. The pitcher faced west, and if he was left-handed, the ball would be thrown with his south-sided hand--his "south paw". Thank you for that info, Dad (he's more than just a pretty face)!

Emily, I had never heard why lefties were called southpaws, that's great!

Carla, I checked your profile and found no birthdate listed. I couldn't tell if my hubby helped put you through college or not. It's safe to say that he helped make more than a few car payments at your dad's house.

If those are your kids, my dad was probably retired by the time your hubby started drinking beer! I was born in 1963. :)

Maths

Seriously, do you guys really put an s on math?

I think that Carla is also a 'leftie' or is it 'lefty'

Yep. I am pretty ambidexterous though ... is that spelled right? Most things I can do with either hand ... I am better at writing with my left hand, but am capable in a pinch to write something short with my right hand ... with practice, I would be able to use it pretty well.

Well Emily...I can't figure my own self out (yes, I do like to use that slightly appalachian-sounding phrase aloud, in public  )......I only EAT and BRUSH MY TEETH left handed......everything else in the entire world is done w/ left hand or foot.

tummy hurts, too much food last night. must go back to supine state.

Sounds cute...I like it :D

:wacko: This little fella is only to be used if you can drink wine from your right hand whilst eating/brushing teeth with your left.

Factoring in that math anecdotes have been protested, perhaps we should just let this go for the remainder of the thread. In addition, I would hate to be the cause of any division amongst the ranks as I do so enjoy the banter. Plus . . . ow, ow, brain pain.

How are you left-eyed unless you are a pirate and wear an eye-patch? Ahoy there, Emily, are you a pirate?

I'm right-handed. My brother is a lefty and was the biggest practical joker in the family, although my whole family is nuts - comes from my mom's side. I had two uncles that tried to potty train a goat and he fell through the hole (waaaaaay back when they had outhouses).

If those are your kids, my dad was probably retired by the time your hubby started drinking beer! I was born in 1963. :)

You're a year older than we are . . . and he (the hubby) didn't wait until he was 21 to start drinking beer. Of course at that time, it probably wasn't the high end stuff like Miller Lite. :P

elye Community Regular

Whoa!!! There's all KINDS of cool new little faces for me to use! A whole treasure trove that I did not know about ^_^ !

Very early on (university days), I learned to do damn near anything whilst holding said glass of wine, including going to the bathroom. Well, I didn't want to put it down and forget where I'd left it!

Well, I'm strongly righty for everything, but I won't be surprised if this bizarro-world thread has the RIGHTY as the 10% minority.

What are the odds? <rhetorical? not so much ;) [1/10**n]x0.9>

I'm pretty sure I know why & how, but even more sure you'd rather not read the paragraph it might take to explain it. :)

Appalachia & supine in such proximity! Is that even legal?

But the "too much food"? Out somewhere? Omg sometimes I can't wait to be JUST gluten-free and go places where I can't help but have "too much food" . . . .

Details?

Hey! How do I get access to that fabulous little emoticon, the little guy you've used with his eyes going in swirls? I can't see him anywhere!

This made me chuckle (time to dig Tom out)

Men are happier!

**************

Men Are Just Happier People What do you expect from such simple creatures?

Your last name stays put. The garage is all yours. Wedding plans take care

of themselves. Chocolate is just another snack. You can be President. You

can never be pregnant. You can wear a white T-shirt to a water park. You can

wear NO shirt to a water park. Car mechanics tell you the truth. The world

is your urinal. You never have to drive to another gas station restroom

because this one is just too icky. You don't have to stop and think of which

way to turn a nut on a bolt. Same work, more pay. Wrinkles add character.

Wedding dress $5000. Tux rental-$100. People never stare at your chest when

you're talking to them. The occasional well-rendered belch is practically

expected. New shoes don't cut, blister, or mangle your feet. One mood all

the time.

Phone conversations are over in 30 seconds flat. You know stuff about tanks.

A five-day vacation requires only one suitcase. You can open all your own

jars. You get extra credit for the slightest act of thoughtfulness. If

someone forgets to invite you, he or she can still be your friend.

Your underwear is $8.95 for a three-pack. Three pairs of shoes are more than

enough. You almost never have strap problems in public. You are unable to

see wrinkles in your clothes. Everything on your face stays its original

color. The same hairstyle lasts for years, maybe decades. You only have to

shave your face and neck.

You can play with toys all your life. Your belly usually hides your big

hips. One wallet and one pair of shoes one color for all seasons.

You can wear shorts no matter how your legs look. You can "do" your nails

with a pocket knife. You have freedom of choice concerning growing a

mustache. You can do Christmas shopping for 25 relatives on December 24 in

25 minutes.

No wonder men are happier.

tom Contributor

LOL!

I really truly expected there to be at least ONE I could dispute, but it's all true.

Of course, we would never frown on women in white t-shirts at a water park.

Hmmm would it be common in a country where even regular beaches are full of topless women? Or maybe that's rumor crossed w/ wishful thinking. Wait! No it's not!! I've been to a few beaches in Asia where Euros and some asians were topless. Hmmmmmm :)

Wondering who would "When in Rome" it if at such a beach - say . . .on a Greek island?

Argumentative sounds so negative. :(

Besides, I thought u upgraded me to master debater!

Well, you were looking for what you could dispute just a little while ago, and only you can tell us if you're worthy of an upgrade ... and do you really think it is an upgrade?

Yes.  Now, if you hit your finger with a hammer once, wouldn't you do your best not to do it again?  You have identified a direct connection between gluten and pain.  Gluten is your hammer.  Now you have to decide if you need a medical diagnosis.  Some countries have aid benefits tgat you can get if you have the diagnosis, but you must continue eating a gluten-normal diet while pursuing the diagnosis. Otherwise the only reason to continue eating gluten is social. There are over 200 symptoms that could be a result of celiac disease.. Celiac Disease and Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity  both cause multiple vitamin and mineral deficiency.  Dealing with that should help your recovery, even while eating gluten.  Phosphatidyl Choline supplements can help your gut if digesting fats is a problem,  Consider that any medications you take could be causing some of the symptoms, aside from gluten.
    • trents
Welcome to the forum, @Ben98! If you have been consciously or unconsciously avoiding gluten because of the discomfort it produces then it is likely that your blood antibody testing for celiac disease has been rendered invalid. Valid testing requires regular consumption of generous amounts of gluten. The other strong possibility is that you have NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity) which shares many of the same symptoms with celiac disease but does not have the autoimmune component and thus does not damage the small bowel lining. It is 10x mor common than celiac disease. There is currently no test for NCGS. Celiac disease must first be ruled out. Some experts in the field believe it can be a precursor to the development of celiac disease. Having one or both of the primary genes for developing celiac disease does not imply that you will develop active celiac disease. It simply establishes the potential for it. About 40% of the population has the genetic potential but only about 1% develop active celiac disease.

TTG blood test and total IGA tested on many occasions which have always remained normal, upper GI pain under my ribs since 2022. I had an endoscopy in 2023 which showed moderate gastritis. no biopsy’s were taken unfortunately. genetic test was positive for HLADQ2. extreme bloating after eating gluten, it’ll feel like I’ve got bricks in my stomach so uncomfortably full. the pain is like a dull ache under the upper left almost like a stitch feeling after a long walk. I am just wanting some advice has anyone here experienced gastritis with a gluten issue before? thank you

"Conclusions: The urinary iodine level was significantly lower in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis, and iodine replacement may be important in preventing osteoporosis"  Body iodine status in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis Low iodine can cause thyroid problems, but Iodine deficiency will not show up in thyroid tests.  Iodine is important for healing, its job is to kill off defective and aging cells (Apoptosis). Skin, brain fog, nails, muscle tone all inproved when I started taking 600 mcg (RDA 150 - 1000 mcg) of Liquid Iodine drops. Some with dermatitis herpetiformis, Iodine exacerbates the rash.  I started at 1 drop (50 mcg) and worked up to 12 drops, but I don't have dermatitis herpetiformis.
