Well at the current moment the newlyweds are working, we just got to the hospital, I came up to my office and he went down on the dock. Tonight, we leave for our honeymoon. We will stay with my family tonight and leave for New York tomorrow.

We are staying on the Lake, in Canadaigua and then spending the Friday in Rochester. We will return to PA on Saturday evening.

We have a few things on the menu, Cooperstown, and the dinner at the Tastings Restaurant. I want to go to the Seneca Zoo. So it will be a very fun time. We have never been to the Finger Lakes so this is all new to us.

It was snowing up there yesterday. So hopefull the weather will remain nice.

OMG-OMG-OMG! :o

You're going to be in my backyard! :)

The Finger Lakes are awesome - many great NY wineries (and Wegmans EVERYWHERE YOU LOOK! ) and other great attractions (the Open Original Shared Link - just outside Canandaigua - wifey's favorite spot). You're not truly coming to Cooperstown, the same Cooperstown that's 1/2 hr from my abode? :o This is the best time to vist C-town - no tourists (well, 'cepting you and yours) lots of parking...Must check out The Farmer's Museum, Fenimore House, Baseball HOF (Barry Bonds' *Ball not there yet  ), I've had good luck eating at "Open Original Shared Link". PM me if I can help with info on either end of your trip. I've lived in both places. Oh, how exciting to have the newly weds in my backyard!

What are the newlyweds doing?

Well, it has been over 26 years since we were newlyweds, and I remember what we were doing, but nobody was taking any pictures of it.

Follow Peter's example, Amanda . . . we don't need to see anything too risque' in your next av when your back from honeymooning in Richard's back yard . . . at least get a tent!

Oh buggers, I am going "over the river and thru the woods to grandma's house" (her 90th b-day on Friday :(

There are no gluten free places in Cooperstown, but I've eaten successfully the the "Hoffman Lane Bistro" (see link above). It's a neat place, w/live entertainment most weekends. There is a health food store in town (Cooperstown Natural Foods) if you need snacks. The lady that runs it is VERY nice. Her son is autistic, and on gluten-free diet, so she is very knowledgable and well stocked.

The weather? I had about 1/2" of snow on my deck this morning :o Cold. this week looks like lows in 20's highs in 40's.

If you are going to be in Rochester for a meal you must check out the Open Original Shared Link. I haven't been there since going gluten-free so I can't vouch for that aspect - but OMG they have the BEST RIBS  and a funky honky-tonk atmosphere :o There is almost always a wait to get in - it's THAT GOOD. :)

Enjoy your stay :)

OMG my Stinker had a major panic attack this morning - we got up (Annie and I), Tika decided to spend the latter half of the night outside in her doghouse.......so Annie goes out in the morning with tail wags and kisses and greets her.............so Stinker comes into the house with the most wild-eyed look of sheer panic on her face, tail betwixt legs, and runs straight back to her bed.........

I enticed her out with something yummy mixed into her food............so she comes out, shaking uncontrollably, teeth chattering (whilst I am holding her and saying repeatedly the favorite words of consolation "Mommy's here! Annie's here! Mommy's here!!!!)......so she eats her food, and runs straight back to bed......

what kind of dog has nervous breakdown panic attacks??????? (okay, I'll say it for you - DOGS THAT LIVE WITH DINGO GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! )

anybody got any extra Prozac for her? (only half kidding here)

Top 10 silliest British laws

The laws and other regulations were culled from published research into ancient legislation that has never been repealed although subsequent statutes have rendered them obsolete.

2. It is an act of treason to place a postage stamp bearing the British monarch upside-down (seven percent)

3. In Liverpool, it is illegal for a woman to be topless except as a clerk in a tropical fish store (six percent)

4. Mince pies cannot be eaten on Christmas Day (five percent)

5. In Scotland, if someone knocks on your door and requires the use of your toilet, you must let them enter (four percent)

6. A pregnant woman can legally relieve herself anywhere she wants, including in a policeman's helmet (four percent)

7. The head of any dead whale found on the British coast automatically becomes the property of the king, and the tail of the queen (3.5 percent)

8. It is illegal to avoid telling the tax man anything you do not want him to know, but legal not to tell him information you do not mind him knowing (three percent)

9. It is illegal to enter the Houses of Parliament in a suit of armour (three percent)

10. In the city of York it is legal to murder a Scotsman within the ancient city walls, but only if he is carrying a bow and arrow (two percent)

Have a good one :D --the area you will be visiting is beautiful--especially this time of year. We took the boys to Cooperstown about 10 years ago. Actually, while we were there, we went into a little store on the main street close to the museum. I walked in (having never been there before) and saw my cousin who lived in Aston at the time. Neither of us knew the other would be there--she was taking one of her kids to a doctor there.

Talk about a coincidence :o

Have a fantastic time--we want to hear all about it when you get back. Well, ya know what I mean :lol:B)

Yeah, we have 'em up here, too. Following the Commonwealth and all, we still respect some of the best ol' British legislation. And thank Gawd we still observe the law about

pregnant women relieving themselves wherever they see fit. I had many a moment at nine months along in parked cars, mailboxes, compost bins...all quite legally.

The following two lists are very helpful for anyone who is gluten sensitive and needs to avoid gluten when shopping. It's very important to learn to read labels and understand sources of hidden gluten, and to know some general information about product labelling--for example in the USA if wheat is a possible allergen it must be declared on a product's ingredient label like this: Allergens: Wheat.
    • trents
Tammy, in the food industry, "gluten free" doesn't mean the same thing as "no gluten". As Scott explained, the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) allows food companies to use the "gluten-free" label as long as the product does not contain more than 20 ppm (parts per million) of gluten. This number is based on studies the FDA did years ago to determine the reaction threshold for those with celiac disease. And the 20 ppm figure works for the majority of celiacs. There are those who are more sensitive, however, who still react to that amount. There is another, stricter standard known as "Certified Gluten Free" which was developed by a third party organization known as GFCO which requires not more than 10 ppm of gluten. So, when you see "GFCO" or "Certified Gluten Free" labels on food items you know they are manufactured with a stricter standard concerning gluten content. Having said all that, even though you may read the disclaimer on a food item that says the spices may contain wheat, barley or rye (the gluten grains), you should be able to trust that the amount of gluten the spices may contain is so small it allows the total product to meet the requirements of gluten free or certified gluten free labeling. I hope this helps.
    • Tammy Pedler
As soon as I see gluten free I read the labels. I always find stuff that I cannot have on the products them selfs. Like spices, when the labels says  everything listed and then after like say garlic salt then the next thing is spices. When it says that that can contain wheat and other things I can’t have..
    • Scott Adams
While hypoglycemia isn't a direct, classic symptom of celiac disease, it's something that some individuals with well-managed celiac disease report, and there may be a few plausible explanations for why the two could be connected. The most common theory involves continued damage to the gut lining or nutrient deficiencies (like chromium or magnesium) that can impair the body's ability to regulate blood sugar effectively, even after gluten is removed. Another possibility is delayed stomach emptying (gastroparesis) or issues with the hormones that manage blood sugar release, like glucagon. Since your doctors are puzzled, it may be worth discussing these specific mechanisms with a gastroenterologist or endocrinologist. You are certainly not alone in experiencing this puzzling complication, and it highlights how celiac disease can have long-term metabolic effects beyond the digestive tract.
    • trents
Paracetamol, aka, acetaminophen (Tylenol) just does not do anything for me as far as pain relief. It does help with fevers, though.
