Love your new av, Nikki...you look like us over here, bundled up in the depths of a classic Canadian winter (although it does not officially begin until tomorrow...ubelievable...).. <_<

We are due to leave for Virginia in less than 36 hours. Beside the fact that I'm outrageously behind in my preperations . . . My son just threw up. Merry Christmas to me! My daughter had it last week. A 24 hour thing.

I got one better on you, Tom: Driving home from a restaurant many years ago, I glanced in the rear-view mirror at my daughter, at that time a toddler in her car seat. She had a cold at the time, and was fussing a lot. I noticed her nose was quite snotty, so I pulled onto a side street, got the industrial kleenex out of my pocket, and opened the back door.

Well, she was really fussing, and I was wondering if the noodles she had eaten were not agreeing with her. So, I'm wondering, wiping her nose, and I picked at some yucky mucous that wasn't coming out. It's a piece of food! So I grasp it...and pull...and an entire fettucinne noodle came out of her nostril.

I'm getting the impression that motherhood is not for the faint of heart! Kids seem to come with excrements of all kinds, huh? Not sure when I went from being a excrement-laden kid myself to thinking about having a noddle-nosed child of my own.

We made a snowman today in our backyard! I put a picture in my avatar. It was great packing snow!

A little sad right now :(

My older son who lives in the town we moved from in NJ won't be able to come up for Christmas--we had tried for this Sunday, but between his work schedule and the girlfriend's family (same town), he'd be driving most of the time.....

So, they're coming the weekend after Christmas--I'm looking forward to it, but this is the first time in 26 years I won't see him for Christmas.

I wallowed in it for a little while, then picked my butt up and spent the afternoon making a huge batch of Christmas cookies :D Gotta tell ya, it really got me into the spirit. :D

I just ate the all frosting that was left in the bowl

Want to comment on all the goings-on that I missed today....I'll be back

Oops double  grrrrrrr

Patti, a hug for you! Having the kids grow up can be tough! He will still have all the wonderful memories of the past 26 Christmases with you in his heart though.

My first Christmas away was VERY tough. I think I called home like 10 times. :)

Ohhh, I'm sorry. :( That totally stinks. (((Hugs!))) I'm glad you're feeling a little better about it now. What kind of cookies did you make? I want to try making Russian Tea Cakes this year. Not sure if I'm going to get to it, but I'd like to try.

Alex, awesome snowman!! You know, motherhood involves all body fluids- poop, pee, snot, blood, vomit, you name it. But the ONLY thing that ever grossed me out was when their umbilical cord stumps came off.

((Green Barfy Guy))

Utterly traumatizing.

 Gawd! Are we talking 10 inches of noodle!? :o Yes indeed, that would be a tad uncomfortable!

I made cut out sugar cookies.....this year, instead of using colored sugar, I used sugar in the raw. They look kinda pretty and sparkly--sort of a grown up cookie

Russian Tea Cakes sound good :)

Kid's bodily fluids....yeah. Somehow when it's your own kid, it doesn't gross you out. Well, maybe momentarily.... :P

I so don't believe that...

unexpected bodily fluids have to be nasty however cute the body they came out of

Alex...you do not have to be a parent to experience these fluids, one or any combination, erupting into your life...just wait till you hit post 500...

Unbelievable...To this day I wonder if I dreamed it. But no, it happened. And it was 10 inches of noodle. :o

(Thank GAWD she hadn't been eating lasagna!!)....:o

oh halloooooooooo sillies!!!!!!!!!!! Just got home from a LONG lunch!!!!!! will try to post av of me girls and me mum. great fun.

so many things......Alex - LOVE the snowman, and we get to SEE you! :) Emily - the NOODLE - OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! are we sure it wasn't a tapeworm?????????

:o

Patti - - - {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}} to you........a tough year.

and everyone else...............

I forgot everything I was going to say and I am freeeeeeezing cold!!!!!!!! must try to get warm, and supposed to go meet some people CLEAR across town and the traffic is UNBELIEVABLY heinous..........gads. Don't know if I"ll chance it.

OMG here's what happened today.........I LOST THE KEY to my neighbor's house, so her dog was outside (I"d let him out this morning) just yapping away. I went through the gate and brought him over. Put him outside with the girls. Well, this eejit dog has NO concept of when the human has left the house.......so he just continues to bark and bark like a demon. Loud, piercing shriek barks. So I am late for the lunch, and frantically, hysterically looking for the key.....he has GOT to go home and be in the house, in his kennel.

After 20 minutes of searchign and PRAYING - - I finally get this thought - look under the coffee table in living room, in the wicker box that holds TV controls - etc. And.......there it was - scooped up accidentally with other things and thrown in.

Mygawd.......I am just CERTAIN I am going to the lose the key to perfect neighbor's house.....requiring all sorts of expensive and embarassing explanations as to why I had to hire a locksmith to break into her house.................

I am such a disorganized spazz.

jerseyangel Proficient

Susie--You poor thing with the lost key and the barking dog! I can just see you running around franticly looking for the darn key....

Just keep the key in the wicker box--after today, you won't forget it's there ;)

And you said "spazz" :D

Emily - the NOODLE - OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! are we sure it wasn't a tapeworm?????????

:o

 oh jeez how'd the rest of us miss making this comparison!!!!

His name can only be Alfredo <_< and i think he wants in on the next parade.

Well, this eejit dog has NO concept of when the human has left the house.......

Mygawd.......I am just CERTAIN I am going to the lose the key to perfect neighbor's house.....

Hey, what's she expect for $2/day anyway?? :D

Does anyone know the kids' book "More Parts"? I suppose it's a sequel.

Pretty darn hee-larry-us!

Poor kid takes everything literally.

"Our next-door neighbor had a joke

He wanted us to hear.

He said "it's sure to crack you up!",

I ran away in fear"

And the illustration shows the grown-ups heads cracking like mudflats in a drought.

Lotta laughs w/ the little one reading this today.

HI Sabrina!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've retreated upstairs while the 4 yr old has a bit ofa screaming crying fit over basically absoLUTEly nothing. Fine one minute as mom reads a story, then WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

Maybe he should've been in bed an hr ago, but we were doing a gingerbread house. (Pre-fab kit) I didn't even touch anything but enjoyed their enjoyment. Heehee :);)

We took my mom and Brina as we have been calling her out to see Hershey Sweet Lights tonight where you drive through the Christmas lights. Brina fell asleep in the car and after being up all day with on and off cat naps it took a little bit to get her to lay down, I think she was so tired she was upset. Plus she came to us with quite the cold and congestion....so she may not feel the best. All in all after some crying/whining she went to bed. :) Tomorrow we will do more shopping and then they will head back home.

Morning, Sillies!

First official day of winter. We are going up to 6 degrees today, and 9 degrees (50 F) tomorrow, with a deluge of rain. :o Wow, I certainly wasn't dreaming of a wet Christmas...

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

Now there is a sound I have not heard in a while, and one which I do NOT miss...

Sounds like you're having a great time, though, Tom... :)

So, how's the stress level in everyone's life? Mine is steadily building, what with out-of-towners coming, baking/cooking, cross-contamination issues at every turn...It is truly therapeutic to visit here, where I can look like crap, not worry about gluten, not bring any beautifully wrapped gifts, and not even watch what I say! Boy, you guys just take whatever I've got...and sometimes even find it amusing! Man, I've had a number of in-laws at this time of year just stare at me and quietly leave rooms when I go on as I tend to here. (But, see, at a gathering they cannot recognise my post and skip it over or leave it partway through, as you guys can).:rolleyes:

Wow...darn good thing for me the family/friends holiday season is not set up as a forum...!

but just think......if it were.......one could ALWAYS invoke the power of the magic triangle....or the back button.........

or just hit DELETE and make oneself, or one's pesky relative - DISAPPEAR!!!!!!!!!! :P

I am sort of doing the anti-Christmas this year......too much money went to veterinary bills - only my nieces

will be receiving anything from me. BAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I've told everyone of my Scrooge-ness,

so it's just going to have to be okay.

and OMG you know what else?????????? Okay......these are the FABULOUS things of being single and childless

at Christmas!!!! - I am not even preparing myself a special gluten-free meal for any of my outings. Nope, this time -

I seriously think I"ll just take a frozen Trader Joe's something-or-other and some salad dressing - that's IT!!!!!!

I"m keeping it very low stress this year. (read: I am lazy and no longer care) :P

why am I up?

back to bed

Im so frustrated and still getting the run around trying to reprove my celiac disease which my past primary ignored for 25 years.I understand that theres a ray of medical that doctors are limited too but not listening and telling the patient ( me) that im not as sensitive as I think and NOT celiac!Correction Mr white coat its not what I think but for cause and affect and past test that are not sticking in my medical records.I get sick violently with foods consumed, not eating the foods will show Im fabulous. After many blood draws and going through doctors I have the HLA- DQ2 positive which I read in a study that Iran conducted that the severity in celiac is in that gene.Im glutenfree and dealing with related issues which core issue of celiac isn't addressed. My skin, right eye, left leg diagestive issues affected. I have high blood pressure because im in pain.Im waisting my time on trying to reprove that Im celiac which is not a disease I want, but unfortunately have. It  has taken over my life personally and professionally. How do I stop getting medically gaslight and get the help needed to bounce back if I ever do bounce back to normal? I thought I was in good care with " celiac specialist " but in her eyes Im good.Im NOT.Sibo positive, IBS, Chronic Fatigue just to name a few and its all related to what I like to call a ghost disease ( celiac) since doctors don't seem to take it seriously.

@Martha Mitchell, your reaction to the lens implant with gluten sounds like it could be an allergic reaction rather than a celiac reaction. It is possible for a celiac to be also allergic to gluten as it is a protein component in wheat, barley and rye.

Scott I also have different symptoms than most people. It affects me bad. Stomach ache, headache, nauseous, heart racing, whole body shaking, can't walk then my throat starts to close. It attacks my nervous system. The only thing that saves me is a 1/2 of Xanax...it calms down my nervous system

Scott Adams. I was dealing with a DR that didn't care about me being celiac. I repeatedly told him that I was celiac and is everything gluten-free. He put an acrylic lens from j&j. I called the company to ask about gluten and was told yes that the acrylic they use has gluten....then they back tracked immediately and stopped talking to me. The Dr didn't care that I was having issues. It took me 6 months and a lot of sickness to get it removed.... which can only happen within 6 months. The Dr that took it out said that it was fused and that's why I lost vision. If they would have removed it right away everything would be fine. He put in a silicone one that was gluten-free and I've had no issues at all in the other eye. Do not do acrylic!
