This alpaca behavior you have described peaked my interest. I wonder if our yeti shares some DNA with these creatures, as he is doing exactly this! Gets in your face to sniff you, but scoots away fast when you reach out.

He may be picking up some...undesirable...behavior from my animals, and it's probably time for him to go elsewhere. I've caught him doing the cat massage thing on several surfaces (now there's a clip for youtube), and he's been...prancing a bit. And there's quite a production when the mailman comes....poor man. Time to ship yeti off, methinks...

oh yeah, here it was, it was LLAMAS. (not to be confused w/ Lorenzo or Fernando Lamas)

However, this has become her new aboriginal name....

Are you telling me the Yeti doth not stinketh?

Oh, but he stinketh...he is a large, furry, unkempt beast, after all. 'Tis rather the infamous rank hockey bag that now smells like....angels...copulating...in your nose?! now, since the yeti scrubbed it like he was some deckhand.

Oh, yeah, here it was, it was LLAMAS. (not to be confused w/ Lorenzo or Fernando Lamas)

Who, me?

I'm here at the moment, but am not as active as usual due to a technical problem with my usual computer. The notebook with wireless that I take anywhere in the house with me is currently in the shop for repairs. It went west late on New Year's Eve. In the meantime, I'm using the desktop in the office. Frequently the cats block access here, but at the moment they are all downstairs.

Anyway, I am trying to stay current.

well, here is something that I do. In these reports, many of the prisoners are on....get this.....antidepressants. Ummmmm........yeah.........you're depressed? can't sleep? bored???? YA THINK???????????????? Yeah.....you've been involved in miscreancy and debauched behavior since you were 13, and then you killed someone, and now you're in prison for life. Depressed?

DEAL WITH IT, LOSER!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

oops......oh......digression.

so.......what I DO do in these reports is write notes, in red, to Brad. All of a sudden it will say "rule out Spruesiacal Eclectisism" and he LOVES it when I put that in......... long story. I'll explain it whilst fully sober.

Stepford left me a gift today - a room fragrance thing from Bath and Body works (I asked her why her house smelled so good)..........extra bonus gift

. . . . It went west late on New Year's Eve.

West???? It went WEST is bad?

I'm quite familiar w/ it went south to indicate a reduction in overall goodness, but "it went WEST"????

Sheesh . .. <mutter mutter>. . . Only in northern N. America!!!!!!!

Hehehehehehe <_< no, that wouldn't do at all.

I swear I'm affected by the smell of wheat cooking. Not things cooked elsewhere then eaten here, but the last few airport trips I haven't enjoyed going past the bagel shop. And here, when they cook their ultra-processed Lean Pockets breakfast whatevers, I can feel my brain clouding up. (I might throw the rest out, in the stillness of midnight. Tried last night, but some loonybird was out banging pots & pans. Takes all kinds eh?)

Looked up 'smell' here and one person said "it doesn't make me sick, it makes me feel sick."

I think I'm right there w/ her, I'm afeared.

How is the Yeti? Has he recovered since New Years?

How is the Yeti? Has he recovered since New Years?

Well, my daughter was sidelined by a cold today, and suddenly her hockey team was looking at a big forfeit of their afternoon game, as she is one of their only two goalies, and the other goalie is out of town.

DD remembered that the yeti had fit into DH's equipment, and suggested we suit him up and send him in her place.

Well, that's what we did.

He was AMAZING.

Catching the puck in his teeth...leaping across the ice, incredible gloved saves...he got a shut-out (something my daughter has not accomplshed), and we won 5 to 0. He was the MVP.

So, he may be appearing in their official team photo being taken tomorrow. I'll post it for sure....

I MUST remember this when I start teaching Freshman Writing again- "Are you joking?" "Who taught you grammar?" "Why are you in college when you can't even spell?" "Who REALLY wrote this paper- YOU or a YETI?"

I realized it is actually important to get an official diagnosis because then insurance can cover bone density testing and other lab work to see if any further damage has been done because of it. Also, if hospitalized for whatever reason, I have the right to gluten-free food if I am officially celiac. I guess it gives me some legal protections. Plus, I have 4 kids, and I really want to know. If I really do have it then they may have increased risk.

Been off this forum for years. Is it that important that you get an official diagnosis of something? It appears like you had a trigger (wheat, gluten, whatever) and removing it has resolved your symptom. I can't speak for you, but I had known what my trigger was (gluten) years before my diagnosis I would just stay gluten-free and get on with my symptom free condition. I was diagnosed over 20 years ago and have been symptom free only excluding wheat, rye and barley. I tolerate all naturally gluten free whole foods including things like beans which actually helps to form the stools.
    • trents
No coincidence. Recent revisions to gluten challenge guidelines call for the daily consumption of at least 10g of gluten (about the amount in 4-6 slices of wheat bread) for a minimum of 3 weeks. If possible, I would extend that two weeks to ensure valid testing.
    • SilkieFairy
Thank you both for the replies. I decided to bring back gluten so I can do the blood test. Today is Day #2 of the Challenge. Yesterday I had about 3 slices of whole wheat bread and I woke up with urgent diarrhea this morning. It was orange, sandy and had the distinctive smell that I did not have when I was briefly gluten free. I don't know if it's a coincidence, but the brain fog is back and I feel very tired.

@Jane02, I hear you about the kale and collard greens.  I don't do dairy and must eat green leafies, too, to get sufficient calcium.  I must be very careful because some calcium supplements are made from ground up crustacean shells.  When I was deficient in Vitamin D, I took high doses of Vitamin D to correct the deficiency quickly.  This is safe and nontoxic.  Vitamin D level should be above 70 nmol/L.  Lifeguards and indigenous Pacific Islanders typically have levels between 80-100 nmol/L.   Levels lower than this are based on amount needed to prevent disease like rickets and osteomalacia. We need more thiamine when we're physically ill, emotionally and mentally stressed, and if we exercise like an athlete or laborer.  We need more thiamine if we eat a diet high in simple carbohydrates.  For every 500 kcal of carbohydrates, we need 500-1000 mg more of thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  If there's insufficient thiamine the carbs get stored as fat.  Again, recommended levels set for thiamine are based on minimum amounts needed to prevent disease.  This is often not adequate for optimum health, nor sufficient for people with absorption problems such as Celiac disease.  Gluten free processed foods are not enriched with vitamins like their gluten containing counterparts.  Adding a B Complex and additional thiamine improves health for Celiacs.  Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  Thiamine helps the mitochondria in cells to function.  Thiamine interacts with each of the other B vitamins.  They are all water soluble and easily excreted if not needed.
