So I think I got a stomach bug.....:(

We were going to go out for a bit tonight and we ended up at Wegmans, I got so dizzy and ready to throw up I had to leave the store before we were done....John checked out and then met me at the car....I feel so gross!

oh, sweet friends, I have very sad news.....

My beautiful, noble girl is gone. I cannot stop sobbing.....and wonder when the tears will find their end.

I don't know why I am writing....I don't really know what to do wtih myself......I didn't call anyone this morning until after it happened.....and now I am left wondering if I did the right thing, was it the right time???? She was having trouble walking, on her unsteady legs, but was pulling so hard on her leash, as we went in.....and she struggled to breathe.....kept gagging.....it was agonizing.

we had an awful, awful night......groanings of pain as I"ve never heard.....gagging...horrible. we almost went at 3 in the morning, but she quit groaning....but in the last couple of weeks she was never able to go into a deep sleep or even lie flat on her side, not once.

So......we went this morning, early......Annie was distraught, but is now sleeping at my feet......she was in there w/ us when it happened....I was holding my sweet girl's face as she slipped peacefully off, and Annie was at her side.

I opted against private cremation at the vet's, expensive, but I have changed my mind....my plan was always to scatter her remains over her two favorite spots in the Sierra.....so I feel a bit better.

I need prayers......this is much harder than I thought.........she has been my shadow and brilliant companion for nearly 14 years..........

and yes, it sounds as though it was the right time . . . like I said, a couple of days early is better than one day too late and it sounds like she was really starting to struggle.
