It's darned if you do, darned if you don't. Straighten it a bit (or all the way), keep it natural.....either way there is a whole lot of work invovled, it's exhausting.

Tom!! I have hit the magic triangle in such instances, and it gives me the original window, with all the quotes I have tagged, ready for me to respond to. All of my responses are gone. So while it doesn't get lost completely, it still is NOT magic enough for me....In fact, I am using, but not mastering. PLEASE EXPLAIN! Gawd, I need a magic triangle....to save not lost posts, but lost keys, change, composure..... :lol:

The pic is from Christmas. The pugs are my BIL's. Pugs are big with my in-laws. My MIL is on her 3rd pug. First two she had at the same time (for a long time). One had an eye problem and ended up having to have one eye removed so we called her a pirate pug.

Landen is smiling tonight and seems to have a little more energy. Jen does not have to work until Tuesday evening so if he is doing much better, she will go to work and he will stay with us. Instead of dragging him out in the cold to the babysitters.

John is not so well, hopefully in time.

Sorry John is still sick. Poor guy--he's really had a time of it this winter :(

Good news to report. Colin's wonder woman social worker worked her magic and the VON will be coming daily to his place until he is well enough to resume taking care of himself.

Gawd....our hair. I've been having mine professionally straightened for the last couple of years and it's starting to really want to break off. I know I'm doing too much to it--I also color cuz I might have a couple of greys :ph34r:

I'm at that point where I'm thinking of doing something different...maybe cutting off a couple inches of ends and wearing it curly again. I love it straight, but there's a lot of upkeep involved. Oye....I will not go short, though--I'm always sorry when I do that :P

Updates...

I am still in bed...and not feeling much better...darn stomach bug. I fell asleep most of the afternoon with my kitty who is always a good sick day cuddler.

John was taken off all meds and needs to ride it out...he is debating work tomorrow. I am as well. Part of me wants to go, things are going well and I dont usually miss work unless I schedule time off...but there is a nasty storm coming too and if I go and I get ill again, I dont want to drive in that mess...

Landen is back in the hospital, Jen took him there this evening. Her mom is flying in tomorrow from Michigan. John and I might pick her up at the airport to help Jen out. So please keep them in your thoughts, our hospital is full and I believe he will be admitted tonight.....the nearest Childrens Hospital is Danville or Philly-area.

Sounds like there's a lot of sickness going around the silly thread -- we might need to be quarantined!

Spent the evening with my bro and I'm exhausted but I just needed to report something kinda silly. His mood was pretty down and I was running out of things to talk to him about to keep his mind from going to bad places. So I started telling him a little about the silly thread and mentioned to him that someone on here was the daughter of the guy from You Can't do That on Television. Not sure if I told you this before Emily, but watching that show was an after school ritual for me and Colin.

His eyes lit up and he actually smiled!!! He ended up reminiscing about the show with me for about a half hour. So I just needed to pass that on to you Emily and let you know that your dad made someone smile today :) . And making Colin smile today is no small feat.

Ahhh, so tired. Night, night all.

Thinking about Landen, Amanda...and you and John. :( Enough of this Sickness in Sillyville!

I must, finally, jump into the curl debate. I have spent my entire life dreaming of having big curls, and have spent countless dollars on perms and curling irons. My hair is poker straight. Cannot do ANYTHING with it. I spend so much time styling it, trying to infuse it with some body, some oomph (something of which you curly heads have plenty)...to no avail. I WANT CURLS! This is the way I wanna be:

I'm doing REALLY REALLY well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When was the last time you heard ME say that? (Oh yeah---two years ago this month, actually!) :lol::lol::lol:

But I'm thinking of everyone and wishing ALL the sicknesses would go away.

I'm going to have to upload pictures of my new hair. Its cut, colored, and layered. Awesome when its curly and straight. I love it!

*edited to add: can't see too much of my hair...but its the best I have for now!

Oh, Alex!! That has warmed my heart like you won't believe!! :):) I cannot wait to tell my dad this. I do hope that Colin is over the hump of his illness....poor guy.

Stinker was askeert of pugs......ha ha! Before we moved to Monterey we used to go to this small dog park......and there was a family w/ about......eight pugs. :blink: snorting and in a pack like that, they were quite terrifying. :lol:

I figure once I've seen it, I've seen it. Now maybe if I were a Film student it'd be different.

Of course, MUSIC is different for me. Never could get enough LPs, then CDs. And would hear new new-wanses (lol does nuances register at ALL seeing THAT?) upon repeated listenings; or concentrating on specific instruments or groups thereof to gain insight into the hows & whys of what makes it pleasing and/or special/unique.

Hmmmm puzzling .. . ... .others have had success BUT I cannot, in good conscience, testify as to whether said successes were w/ multiple tagged quotes. It could work differently, rebuilding the page instead of holding the data.

Don't see you on here yet, Amanda. I do hope you and John are better!

Called my dad lat night, and told him of your brother's significant lifting of mood in the hospital when talking about the show. There was a pause, and he asked, "Uh.....is this a regular hospital?...what's, uh....the matter with him? This could explain much". :lol: So, I assured him that Colin is quite sane. But I do think that there is a certain kind of psychological...oddness needed to appreciate the humoUr in YCDTOT. :D;)

Not even a little strange, to me. I cannot imagine buying a movie to keep. Listening to music, is, for sure, a very different experience, something that lends itself much more to repeated visits. Funny....here I am a wordie, and yet can't stand the thought of scripts over and over. Music? Different journey each time.

Hehehe :lol: it IS the addition of "at high speed" that elevates it from amusing to potential hilarity.

This must be a founding principle of high-quality physical comedy. Sped up, things are hilarious; slow just isn't funny. Lobbing said computer out of a car that is coasting along a side-street does nothing to me. Would we even smile if the Three Stooges' eye-pokings and head-smackings were done slowly, methodically? Nope. (Hmmmmm...perhaps a bad example. Who really finds those old routines funny at all?) :rolleyes:

      My journey is it gluten or fiber?

      I made it through the holiday w/o being glutened. I had my brother cook with gluten-free breadcrumbs and I didn't get sick. I baked cookies with gluten-free flour and had dry ingredients for cookies in ziplock bag. I also made gluten cookies as well and guess I did good washing to avoid CC. My wife also went to a french bakery and bought a gluten-free flourless...

      What do you mean it would not allow any celiac to eat gluten again. I think if this helps cross contamination when eating out at a non dedicated gluten-free restaurant this would be nice not to encounter the pains. But is their a daily enzyme to take to help strengthen the digestive system?

About two months ago, I ate pancakes and then developed severe diarrhea that lasted the entire day. At night, I became unconscious due to fluid loss and was admitted to the ER, where I received IV fluids. Two days later, I ate bread again and once...

      Welcome to the celiac.com community, @SamAlvi! Were there any other antibody tests ordered? Particularly, was there a "total IGA" test ordered to check for IGA deficiency. When people are IGA deficient, celiac panel IGA test scores, such as the TTG-IGA, are likely not valid. If a total IGA test was not ordered, I would request such to be done. Note:...

I ended up in the ER again and received IV fluids. In my country, Pakistan, doctors are unfortunately not very thorough, so they treated me for a stomach infection. I visited three or four doctors, including a gastroenterologist, but it seemed like they just wanted to keep me on medications and IV fluids. Eventually, I did some digging myself and started connecting the dots. For years, I’ve had excessive gas buildup and frequent loose stools, but I never paid much attention to it. I also cannot easily digest dairy products. Two years ago, I had a CBC test that showed iron deficiency. My doctor told me to eat more meat and said it was nothing serious. However, for the past five years, I’ve also had severe motion sickness, which I never experienced before. Whenever I get on a bus or in a car, I sometimes lose consciousness for 10–20 seconds and wake up sweaty, and occasionally I feel the need to vomit. After more research on the internet, I came across gluten and celiac disease, so I got two related tests (TTG-IgA & TTG IgG) done along with a stool test and another CBC. The stool test showed weakly positive blood. Ever since eating those pancakes and bread, I’ve had a burning sensation in my gut. My doctor reviewed my tests, he told me to completely stop eating gluten and started me on IV fluids for 20 days, saying that I had severe inflammation in my gut. It has now been two months since I quit gluten, and I’m still not sure whether this is celiac disease or gluten intolerance. I don’t really trust doctors in Pakistan, so I thought I might get some help here.

Note: "Total IGA" goes by other names as well. I will include a primer on celiac disease antibody testing which does a good job in covering the nomenclature variations connected with the various tests. Elevated IGG scores can certainly indicate celiac disease but they are more likely than elevated IGA tests to be caused by something else.

      Thank you— yes, valid and essential— The issue either doctors is that every one I have tried to talk to about this has essentially rolled their eyes and dismissed me as a hypochondriac, which gets discouraging. I believe a diagnosis would help me to be taken seriously by doctors as well as being validating, but can carry on without it.    There are many, probably most people in my area of my age and gender, who avoid gluten, but many just avoid it casually— eating the occasional plate of wheat pasta or a delicious-looking dessert, or baking cookies with wheat flour for gatherings.  That is not an option for me. I don’t eat other people’s cooking or go to restaurants that do not have strict cross- contamination procedures. It can be boring and lonely, and people do look at me as if I am being a bit dramatic but weeks of symptoms after a single small exposure has taught me to respect my experience.    Thank you very much for your response— sometimes I just need to hear that I am not crazy—
