Hi Carla!!! Been a long time since I saw you.

We are terrible today....a lot of people have either taken the day off or went home early so we are just piddling around on the net. It has been so long since I had a day like this!

It has been a while Amanda since you've been able to anything more than a drive by from work.

:o OMGawd....could it be? :o

I was doing so well Sun/Mon, I just had to test Tjoe's new organic fake fritos, in the hope that, like tomatoes, the Organic aspect would make it ok.

Nope. Have had a slow mushy brain ever since, but getting better now.

Ahh yes Peeder, where has the Common Sense gone . ...

Sorry 'bout the mushy brain and all, Pataughm....is it too much to ask to have a freaking treat once in a while???

And you said "Peeder"

What's wrong with my post count?????

Oh Cahr-lah....nothing wrong, per se....it's just that you are getting pretty close to a roll-over to a number so far mostly unheard of.....except of course by Moi. :D Here in Sillyville, such noteworthy post rollovers are commonly met with phluid onslaughts. Word to the wise--check yer plumbing and carry an umbrella ;)

Ugh! I have a sore throat from H-E-double hockey sticks.

Double ugh! Feel better soon, Julie :D

Sorry you missed these, Alex:

OMG - right now, Weezee is crouched at the front door in her sphinx position (cutest thing EVER), waiting for Daddy....... (who is out on his blasted MOTORCYCLE  )

and Julie - sorry about your sore throat - heinous!

About your kitty Will, sounds like he skipped the toddler years and went straight into his teens. Look at what he is pulling already

 yes - a true teenaged kitty, that Will!

Well, I now have both of my children home for the summer. A superb final concert....Jack was quintessentially librarianish - - he truly captured the spirit, the mindset and the attitude that encompasses one of these hard-working individuals. His big sister sat beside me chortling away, saying things like, "Gawd, he looks like such a major dweeb"......I quietly told her to wait for the hockey pads scene........this quietened her.

Gawd, Ptaoughmghmn, I'm a bit concerned.......I'm starting to read things the way you do......

It was another way to read Julie's :emoticon:.....the word "quiz" was there, and "icicle", I believe......Having trouble remembering....it was very phunee and clever at the time!

Jack came into the room and asked one of his great questions:

Why do we say that people are "head over heels" when they're in love? Aren't we normally this way?

  I actually can't believe how nice those dresses are. But I spilled about half a class of wine (white thank gawd!) on my chest area at the reception so things may have gotten a little R-rated had I been wearing one of those beauties.

Yeah for Jack! Sounds like a very charming concert. Must be great for his confidence too!

So I saw Get Smart with my grandpa this evening. It was quite good -- funny, entertaining. I wouldn't say superb but good. I'm almost embarrassed to admit this bit I almost ate licorice at the theatre! What's wrong with me? The second ingredient is wheat flour! Licorice just doesn't immediately make me think gluten. I bought it and almost ate it without looking at the ingredients. I really am careful -- I just nearly lost my mind for a minute. But thankfully crisis averted.

Right now my bro is over watching the NHL draft with Ryan. It's quite agonizingly boring! I do feel bad for the guys who are sitting there with their parents not knowing if they're going to be picked. There will be many sad young men tonight. Poor guys are only like 20; lots of stress and disappointment for people that age.

I think the term comes from "falling head over heels" in love. Apparently, when one falls, the heels at some point may be higher than the head.

Or not.....

19) Do you know why they call it

Good Saturday morning, Sillies!

Sophie spent all last evening turning her room upside down, gathering junk material to sell at her friend's garage sale today. She came into the living room with a garbage bag FULL of evidence of her pack-rat status.

I did an unwise thing. I peeked in the bag. GAH!! I whip out her two stuffed bears that were given to her, a year apart, when she passed senior kindergarten, then grade one. Ya GOTTA keep those!! Then, more unwise manouvers - - dug down some more <_< , and there was her Etch-a-sketch that we gave her for Christmas when she was four, and she and I sat with it on her bed every night concocting amazing faces and animals together....What are you thinkin' Sophie? This STAYS!

Then the beading set she got from Grandma when she was in bed with the chicken pox, to keep her occupied....the autographed photo of Walter Gretzky.....AND....wait for this.....CARE BEAR figurines ("Sophie, you HAVE TO keep these, in honour of Sillyville. Don't you understand??")

Gad. She left with a small box of things....:lol:

I do feel bad for the guys who are sitting there with their parents not knowing if they're going to be picked. There will be many sad young men tonight. Poor guys are only like 20; lots of stress and disappointment for people that age.

:(:(

This flashes me back a couple of years, when The Ripper was a liitle boy in the school yard, ALWAYS last picked for ANY sports team....such a cruel way for them to organize a gym class.....

Sounds like heels over head to me!!!!! :D:P

 I hear you on that one, Patti!

Now I gotta get up early and call the phone company so they don't send a guy out here after all.

Sarah!! Don't call and cancel! Let the guy come by.....could be a Pattiplumber-type.....:)

Well, I've already been on hold for 10... no, make that 13 minutes, trying to get through to someone to tell them not to send the guy, sooo........ He could show at any time.

And I really have to go poop. To hang up, or not to hang up?

Ridgewalker Contributor
And I really have to go poop. To hang up, or not to hang up?

Took the phone to bathroom with me and figured, "Oh well, if someone comes on the line while I'm in here, well... at least it's not diarrhea." But I'm done and still on hold. <_<

Every once in awhile, a recording comes on and says that "all their technicians" are currently assisting other people. Yeah right, this is Surry County. It's one 17-year-old computer genius sitting there all by himself. Whatev. Other than that, I've listened to the same Rachmaninov three times now. Hopeless.

Ridgewalker Contributor

Well, POOPY COW. I gave up. I guess I gotta, like, get dressed now or something. I was hoping I could make a quick call and lay back down and snooze for awhile longer. Now I feel like it's too late. <_<

Brian and Ezra are up in PA, by the way, for a reunion. Luke and I stayed down here. It feels so... QUIET!

jerseyangel Proficient

Jeeze Sarah--the one day you coulda lazed around and you have to get dressed and wait for a tech that you don't even need

I say, you honestly tried to call them.....tape a nice note to your door saying that you tried several times to call and cancel the appointment --the problem has resolved itself, and you had to run out.

Then, go snuggle back under the covers :D

Tis quiet indeed. I'm here. I am doing domestic chores and errands today while Jacquie covers the store, so I will be in and out, and probably more out than in.

Emily calls Sophie a pack rat, and then tells her she must keep a bunch of old stuff. I seem to recall something about a pot and a kettle.:D

Aren't call centers the most wondrous thing in the world, Sarah?

plant sources of calcium, such as spinach, have calcium bound to oxalates, which is not good. best source of calcium is unfortunately dairy, do you tolerate dairy? fermented dairy like kefir is good and or a little hard cheese. i do eat dairy, i can only take so much dietary restriction and gluten is hard enough! but i guess some people do have bad reactions to it, so different for everyone.

i take b12, folate, b2, b6, glycine, Nac, zinc, vk2 mk4, magnesium, coq10, pqq, tmg, creatine, omega 3, molybdnem (sp) and just started vit d. quite a list i know.  I have high homocysteine (last checked it was 19, but is always high and i finally decided to do something about it) and very low vitamin d, 10. have been opposed to this supp in the past, but going to try it at 5k units a day. having a pth test on friday, which is suspect will be high. my homocysteine has come down to around 9 with 3 weeks of these supplements and expect it to go down further. i also started on estrogen/progesterone. I have osteoporosis too, so that is why the hormones.  anyway, i think all celiacs should have homocysteine checked and treated if needed (easy enough with b vit, tmg). homocysteine very bad thing to be high for a whole host of reasons. all the bad ones, heart attack , stroke, alzi, cancer..... one of the most annoying things about celiacs (and there are so many!) is the weight gain. i guess i stayed thin all those years being undiagnosed because i was under absorbing everything including calories. going gluten-free and the weight gain has been terrible, 30#, but i'm sure a lot more went into that (hip replacement - and years of hip pain leading to inactivity when i was previously very active, probably all related to celiacs, menopause) yada yada. i seemed to lose appetite control, like there was low glp, or leptin or whatever all those hormones are that tell you that you are full and to stop eating. my appetite is immense and i'm never full. i guess decades or more ( i think i have had celiacs since at least my teens - was hospitalized for abdominal pain and diarrhea for which spastic colon was eventually diagnosed and had many episodes of diarrhea/abdominal pain through my 20's. but that symptom seemed to go away and i related it to dairy much more so than gluten. Also my growth was stunted, i'm the only shorty in my family. anyway, decades of malabsorption and maldigestion led to constant hunger, at least thats my theory. then when i started absorbing normally, wham!! FAT!!!

Great advise there I agree with the aniexty part, and the aura migraine has I suffer both, I've also read some great books that have helped I'm going too look the one you mentioned up too thankyou for that, I find a camomile tea just a small one and a gentle wind down before bed has helped me too, I suffer from restless leg syndrome and nerve pain hence I don't always sleep well at the best of times , racing mind catches up I have decorated my whole house in one night in my mind before 🤣 diet changes mindset really help , although I have to say it never just disappears, I find once I came to terms with who I am I managed a lot better  , a misconception is for many to change , that means to heal but that's not always the case , understanding and finding your coping mechanisms are vital tools , it's more productive to find that because there is no failure then no pressure to become something else , it's ok to be sad it's ok to not sleep , it's ok to worry , just try to see it has a journey not a task 🤗
    • nanny marley
I agree there I've tryed this myself to prove I can't eat gluten or lactose and it sets me back for about a month till I have to go back to being very strict to settle again
    • trents
You may also need to supplement with B12 as this vitamin is also involved in iron assimilation and is often deficient in long-term undiagnosed celiac disease.
