here's something - I really do miss hamburgers but - OMG - positively vomitous!

I want to know how many calories that burger was............probably enough for 2 weeks!

There can not be a devil child worse than the new student we got yesterday. He is a 5th grader and is on his 5th foster home. He was abusive to the last family. He has a mentor that goes with him everywhere....even on Saturdays. Everything you say to him creates a conflict. We were sugary sweet to him but it didn't matter. When I told him to copy a sentence, he said he didn't know what to do. He made fun of a boy with a speech problem. I nicely told him that he can't help the way the words come out of his mouth and we don't make fun of people for things like that. He said, "I bet YOU have!"

One boy asked him who the man was with him. He replied, "He's my mentor. DIDN"T YOU HEAR HIM TALKING?" I said, "Well maybe he didn't. I didn't hear him either." He turned to me and said, "I WASN"T TALKING TO YOU!" I was in a different classroom when it exploded. They were sitting in a circle reading a book and he kept talking. The teacher tried to get him to be quiet and he went off about hating her and the school and wanting to kill people. He was taken away to the "quiet room" and held in a lock hold while he ranted and cussed. He wasn't in school today, but will be back on Mon.

The stress that day was extreme. The other kids were in shock....and scared. I have to wonder what has happened in his life to make him that angry.

Evening, All!

The Ottawa Wildcats lost this evening. . . ... :( Close game, 2-1. I HATE being the goalie's mom!! The goalie takes it all for the team, and a loss is always their fault (in their eyes). I just told her to always remain cool, stay alert, and keep an eye out along the edges of the ice for my cursor. . . . . .......

:rolleyes::lol:

How are you feeling tonight, Amanda? This was a big, hectic day for you. . . . hope you managed okay.

Hi Sillies

Still sick...but guess it will run its course.

Just got back from a road trip to my mom's to drop Landen off. It was a lot of fun. Jen and I got to my moms about 4 and then we went to a Halloween street fair in my moms town....It is cold there.....Maybe high 40's today?? I just know it was brrr!!!! We stayed with Landen until 7 and then we snuck out so he didnt see us. He was playing with my sister Carrie and all the toys.

Brooklyn is so precious and the two babies played together nicely. She was even smiling :)

Jen and I stopped to see Tammy on the way in Wilkesbarre. We visited with her and hubbie and Silvia for a bit. It was a great time and much laughing in my car.

Now I am pooped....The big move takes place tomorrow....yikes!!!!

Sad indeed

My son is in NO way as bad as this, - but not ALLOWED to go to school nonetheless

and by god!...one thing I will NOT tolerate is making fun of those less fortunate than yourself

I hope (with my son) that our parental guidance will eventually offset all his behavioural probs - and he will possibly turn out to be a decent human being!

...but for sooo many kids out there, school is the only place where they have come across rules and expectations :(

On a happier note t'is Al's 16th birthday TODAY!!!!

:( So totally sad. My friend Lauren is in quite a bad school and there were a few like this last year.......they kept getting suspended and then expelled - some of them in several schools already by 5th grade..............Lauren and I decided that they needed three things: divine intervention/miracle (and she's an atheist  ), complete dietary overhaul, and seriously tough love. Oh, and different parents in most cases. The parents are on crack. :(

Well, I don't think it's fair for the goalie to assume responsibility for the team losing  I know Sophie gave 110%, and has nothing to pheel sorry for. Hope she pheels better today :)

I'll bet he does, Nik. Kids are like sponges in a way and they see how we lead our lives--at some point I think your son will come around ;)

Susie, it is a shame that Annie is not the digger that Stinker was (Tika's Excavation Industries Ltd.). She could be out there right now, spraying and tossing dirt everywhere. . . . . .

Well, Josie is a bit of a digger . . . I could send her right over . . . but she prefers to dig things that have been freshly planted so she may not be too useful.

Nikerler, I got a question fer ya . . . If sponges are cakes, than what do you call yer . . . um . . . sponges??

You'll get 'em next time Sophie!!!

well, I don't think I can take credit fer "EMOTIQUOTA" - - 'twas Em, I believe?

and my back.................ugh. Just a mess. :( Weez and I just went on a walk and I felt and looked like an old lady.......much slower than our usual speed and........the pain is worse  ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!! going to Target, nonetheless, for two more plants......... may have Stepford's gardeners do the digging for smell fee, however.

can't even find me blasted heating pad..............WHO loses their heating pad, I ask you?

Of course named after Queen Vicky ...she was rather partial

T'is a mystery (like the Yorkshire puddings) quite how Tel gets the cake to rise sans gluten

I MUST know how Tel gets the cakes to rise.......we MUST find his secret. p'raps you should video tape him...........

Oh I see.......sponge is........cake. Here's what we call cakes:

yellow cake

white cake

chocolate cake

etc.

a SPONGE cake is.........what? we have that here........is taht like a pound cake?

but what is a Victoria sponge? is it the certain philling that makes it so named?

Susie, it is a shame that Annie is not the digger that Stinker was (Tika's Excavation Industries Ltd.). She could be out there right now, spraying and tossing dirt everywhere. . . . . .

 Yes........oh Annnie DOES dig a bit.......she digs up all the gravel on the side yard and makes holes for herself. <_< (quite good that they ARE on the side yard/garbage area and not seen by humans - she is such a good girl :) )

And Stinker......her excavations and major digs were really confined to the LAWN. she dug up all the grass.

A phunny (unintentional, as is often the way) from Jack:

I was preparing to do my suppertime injection, and I had to open up a new package of cotton balls. Jack walked in as I was pulling the bag open, and he asked, "are you supposed to throw the first one away?"

"philling" :lol:

Suz--it's not a pound cake, a sponge is more airy and light--kinda like those little cakes you find next to the fresh strawberries at the grocery store in the summer fer those too lazy to make a proper shortcake. :P Yet another thing we can't have <_<

Yep Nik--yer son is like a Victoria sponge--wif a sweet filling! Just give him time, and you'll see :D

How did Al's birfday go?

Dang......did it again and yeah I should admit I am 63 with clumsy phone thumbs. I started feeling better quickly and a doctor a year later said I had to eat  poison (gluten) every day for a month so he could formally diagnose me and NO FREAKING WAY. I couldn't then and can't imagine putting my body through that crap (no pun intended) on purpose ever again.  Why ingest poison for a month to have some doctor say Hey, All you Have To Do Is Never Eat poison Again..

15 years ago my best friend 'diagnosed' me as Celiac. Her little nephew had been formally diagnosed and her observations of me dealing with brain fog, stomach problems and other stuff had her convincing me to try going gluten free. Oh my heavens, within 3 days, no lie, I felt human again. Took me about a y

It seems like you have two choices--do a proper gluten challenge and get re-tested, or just go gluten-free because you already know that it is gluten that is causing your symptoms. In order to screen someone for celiac disease they need to be eating gluten daily, a lot of it--they usually recommend at least 2 slices of wheat bread daily for 6-8 weeks before a blood screening, and at least 2 weeks before an endoscopy (a colonoscopy is no used to diagnose celiac disease). Normally the blood panel is your first step, and if you have ANY positive results there for celiac disease the next step would be to take biopsies of your villi via an endoscopy given by a gastroenterologist.  More info on the blood tests and the gluten challenge beforehand is below: The article includes the "Mayo Clinic Protocol," which is the best overall protocol for results to be ~98% accurate. Here is more info about how to do a gluten challenge for a celiac disease blood panel, or for an endoscopy: and this recent study recommends 4-6 slices of wheat bread per day:   Not to discourage you from a formal diagnosis, but once you are diagnosed it may lead to higher life and medical insurance rates (things will be changing quickly in the USA with the ACA starting in 2026), as well as the need to disclose it on job applications. While I do think it's best to know for sure--especially because all of your first degree relatives should also get screened for it--I also want to disclose some negative possibilities around a formal diagnosis that you may want to also consider.

Yes.  Now, if you hit your finger with a hammer once, wouldn't you do your best not to do it again?  You have identified a direct connection between gluten and pain.  Gluten is your hammer.  Now you have to decide if you need a medical diagnosis.  Some countries have aid benefits tgat you can get if you have the diagnosis, but you must continue eating a gluten-normal diet while pursuing the diagnosis. Otherwise the only reason to continue eating gluten is social. There are over 200 symptoms that could be a result of celiac disease.. Celiac Disease and Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity  both cause multiple vitamin and mineral deficiency.  Dealing with that should help your recovery, even while eating gluten.  Phosphatidyl Choline supplements can help your gut if digesting fats is a problem,  Consider that any medications you take could be causing some of the symptoms, aside from gluten.
