Sillies--I ate way too much pizza  It was so good, I couldn't stop As if that wasn't bad enough, I topped it off wif homemade rice pudding. I'm very uncomfortable right now.

YUM!!!!!!! this is what I would do, and then would feel positively VOMITIOUS for quite a while.

Not sick--just stuffed.......had to change into me big fluffy robe--jeans got too tight

:o Paddeigh - OMG. the MOST alarming thing about this sentence is that........you were STILL in your jeans at - well, you're three hours ahead, so, must have been around 10 pm when you changed into your phluphy robe???????????

simply inconceivable to me. I just HATE constrictive clothing..........jeans are like a straightjacket - wear them in public, of course, but the MILLISECOND I get home - - any type of clothing is IMMEDIATELY changed into sweats or pj's or some long, flowing summer gown, period. To have jeans on at home is just.........a particular version of hell, in my opinion.

I would wear sweats/pluphy robe/pj's/boxer shorts every single day of my life, all day long and in public, if I could.

One reason I love my new job: have gone in unshowered at least once, and in sweats a few times

No reason a'tall to even TRY and look cute there

everyone is trick-or-treating! Or - scaring the poor participants (i.e. Bev - - nekkid, smeared with chocolate, pheverish, wearing metallic eyelashes and in a violent herx :o )

night-night sillies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Taking my Toblerone bar to bed now...........

my two favorite shows coming up:

Wife Swap  (a phreak show)

The Ex List (adorable)

When are you meeting up with Em tomorrow?

We are planning on 12:30, but I am waiting to hear about the fairy ferry'schedule, so it is a bit phluid. Transportation logistics turned out to be a challenge, so we are going to meet at Open Original Shared Link on Bayview instead of at the store. A long, leisurely gluten-free lunch is planned. :P:) We wish all the sillies could be there, but I think a party that large would overwhelm the place. :(

OMG - Wife Swap is unbelievably phabulous

a white/American Rastafarian family living in Florida, $3 in their bank account, four dread-locked little kids who all sleep in one bed, a dad who plays in a band for a living, and........days decided by who feels what whim..........

versus

Marine Corps father and wife/family in a sterile, military home in Texas who assign all chores on a coloUr-coded spreadsheet <shudder>

this wife has never heard of Jah or Rastafarianism, and she is extremely askeert

pure, catastrophic, clashing joy

I need a life

So what do all these mean, and what results mean positive?

The total IgA measures your ability to make IgA antibodies. The IgA test is not a test for Celiac. However, if you are IgA deficient, it means that the IgA based tests are pretty unreliable, and you could have Celiac, and not test positive for it. Also, IgA deficiency is more common in Celiacs than the general population.

If you are IgA deficient, they can run the tTG or EMA via IgG (which is not affected by IgA deficiency)

Of the other four tests, none are perfect. The tTG IgA and EMA IgA are newer tests. Some doctors don't use the AGA tests anymore as they are not as sensitive or specific.

If someone tests strongly positive on the tTG or EMA, its pretty likely they have Celiac. Some people have Celiac and don't test positive on any of the tests, as the severity of damage in the intestines seems to be correlated with some of the bloodwork (meaning, more patchy/less severe/beginning stages of Celiac may not test positive via bloodwork)

Open Original Shared Link has good info on testing.

Next step is often the biopsy - depends on the doctor, tests results, symptoms, etc.

Also, taking gluten out of someone's diet, as you know, and having improved symptoms doesn't diagnose Celiac, but ---- it does take away the symptoms.

Anyone needs to keep eating gluten before testing.

I'd go with a vodka tonic, but that's just me😉

That and my nutritionist also said that drinking cider is one of the worst drink choices for me, given that I have candida overgrowth.  She said the combination of the alcohol and sugar would be very likely to worsen my candida problem.  She suggested that if I drink, I go for clear vodka, either neat or with a splash of cranberry.   So in summary, I am giving ciders a rest.  Whether it's a gluten risk or sugars and yeast overgrowth, its just not worth it.

While plain, pure tea leaves (black, green, or white) are naturally gluten-free, the issue often lies not with the tea itself but with other ingredients or processing. Many flavored teas use barley malt or other gluten-containing grains as a flavoring agent, which would be clearly listed on the ingredient label. Cross-contamination is another possibility, either in the facility where the tea is processed or, surprisingly, from the tea bag material itself—some tea bags are sealed with a wheat-based glue. Furthermore, it's important to consider that your reaction could be to other substances in tea, such as high levels of tannins, which can be hard on the stomach, or to natural histamines or other compounds that can cause a non-celiac immune response. The best way to investigate is to carefully read labels for hidden ingredients, try switching to a certified gluten-free tea brand that uses whole leaf or pyramid-style bags, and see if the reaction persists.

This is a challenging and confusing situation. The combination of a positive EMA—which is a highly specific marker rarely yielding false positives—alongside strongly elevated TTG on two separate occasions, years apart, is profoundly suggestive of celiac disease, even in the absence of biopsy damage. This pattern strongly aligns with what is known as "potential celiac disease," where the immune system is clearly activated, but intestinal damage has not yet become visible under the microscope. Your concern about the long-term risk of continued gluten consumption is valid, especially given your family's experience with the consequences of delayed diagnosis. Since your daughter is now at an age where her buy-in is essential for a gluten-free lifestyle, obtaining a definitive answer is crucial for her long-term adherence and health. Given that she is asymptomatic yet serologically positive, a third biopsy now, after a proper 12-week challenge, offers the best chance to capture any microscopic damage that may have developed, providing the concrete evidence needed to justify the dietary change. This isn't about wanting her to have celiac; it's about wanting to prevent the insidious damage that can occur while waiting for symptoms to appear, and ultimately giving her the unambiguous "why" she needs to accept and commit to the necessary treatment. This article might be helpful. It breaks down each type of test, and what a positive results means in terms of the probability that you might have celiac disease. One test that always needs to be done is the IgA Levels/Deficiency Test (often called "Total IGA") because some people are naturally IGA deficient, and if this is the case, then certain blood tests for celiac disease might be false-negative, and other types of tests need to be done to make an accurate diagnosis. The article includes the "Mayo Clinic Protocol," which is the best overall protocol for results to be ~98% accurate.
