Oh! New NCIS starting now, must head to bed this instant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

..just CAN'T get on wiv Gibbs & crew.....bores me psilly.....but why???

Psuess.......why is a 2 legged fellow necessary to make your life complete? (or even normal!).....I learned at a young age that my life WAS complete as it was and that a "companion" would be a nice addition, but not necessary for my survival. I used to get angry with people telling me...."oh, you'll find somebody" (this is at a time when I was definitely NOT looking). I DID find someone.....after 20 years of singlehood, after my son was grown and on his own, at a point in my life when I was really ready for someone. I found my someone when I was NOT looking. (I have to add that in lonely periods of time when I did look around there were plenty of "bottom feeders" in the pond). Life is complete in and of itself as you live it. If you focus on what is lacking you just make yourself unhappy (I'm speaking in general terms, not you, specifically). Be happy with yourself and where you are and the rest will follow.

Ok, that's it for todays lecture. Hope I'm not offending anyone when I do that......

I LOVED this T!! :D

.so - my plan is, I find a really cute, yummy-smelling guy with a great dental plan.....we get married........get a couple of root canals and then BAM!!!!!!!!! friendly divorce!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Psillies- Just wanted to poop in and say hello- PadT on her way to Texas, Susie getting married for dental insurance and then divorced

Still thinking about Lisa and famil.

No psilly- too tired. Feeling blah among other things. :(

Did have a wondrous experience yesterday. Phinally got of the couch and went for a drive. There's a wildlife Refuge about 20 min from here called Plum Island. I got there about the sunset and there were two swan couples swimming in the salt marshes. I took about 30 pics of them being swanly as the sun went down. It was magical!

Can't post pics as my camera is SLR but it Open Original Shared Link

Susie's a pirate??? :blink::blink::lol:

Bev- any update on da book?? I'm getting anxious for some news!!!

I agree that Tea gave a loverly lecture.

Susie, love yer cuddling couple.

Must get out and do a little spring clean up in the flower beds. Got a landscape guy coming on Tuesday to give me an estimate on removing the yews (which I can't stand) and I don't want to look totally incompetent. Need to research a few possibilities for what I'm going to put there instead and then quiz him on what my best bet would be.

Just sent out Melissa's update from Fbook. :( Keep on praying, sending strength or whatever you do!

Morning/afternoon Sillies :)

We're getting back on the road in a phew minutes--plan to get to Mississippi by tonight.

Hi Patti!

Safe travels today. All of a sudden I have a certain classic rock song in my head, you're a Mississippi Queen!!

My uncle is improving

Hi Amanda, very good news to hear about your Uncle :)

OK Keyboard musicians, I expect to see something like this from you pretty soon.

Check out the feet and everything.

I am completely lacking the hand, eye, brain coordination for that!

. . . I absolutely adore this latest pic, Soooze. Something out of the newspaper....in fact, you should email some of those shots to your local paper. They would likely be printed....or send them to Barack and his family. The pics would be passed all around Capitol Hill, come into the international debates and the UN briefings - - "How in hell do we maintain any kind of peace in this new, crazed world? Well, take a look at this". . . . ...

:lol::lol: Em

Hope you are enjoying your Toronto getaway!

Only about a page and a third of sillie today......quiet day fer ya'll :o I've been looking forward to getting on here all day! What a long, boring drive <_< on the road fer 12 solid hours

I think Allo is getting the hang of this travelling :D He washed up and napped on and off all day in the car, and tonight he ate, drank water, checked out the room, found his litter box and nary a meow from him. Hopephully, this behavior will continue over night..... ;) We don't need any nocturnal hyjinks.....at least of the feline variety

Gawd, I was thinking a little while ago that when we left the south 14 years ago, I said I was nailin' me pheet to the phloor and never going back. So we went to the grocery store near here and bought OM pre-cooked bacon, lettuce and a tomato and made BLT's in the room wif me toaster and the microwave. Pretty darn (sorry Jan-it) good, I have to say :D

Well, since no one's silly, I'll post a little whiny rant.

My Boss has been SSOOOOOOO annoying. Not only is he expecting me to work (which is, in and of itself annoying, because I certainly have better things to do with my computer than data, hello), but every single frickin' thing I've sent him has been returned with a request for something else. And when finally it's just what he wants to see, do I get "Thank you"? no. I get "great, now could you...".

I feel like whacking him on the head with a stack of numbers saying "Dude! Affirmation! Acknowledgment! That measly little file you dismissed with a 'great' took me 8 months to generate the data, a week to process it, and 10 hours to get it into a form that you could use!" Just because what you get is distilled into a simple form, does not mean it was simple to do. I'm sorry you didn't like my column headings, but could ya maybe consider the value of what's under them???

whew

Needed to get that off my chest. It's been building up for three weeks now. Three weeks that I haven't moved from in front of my computer looking at whatever 730 X 25,000 numbers is.

Morning Sillies--Audit day is today...we started early at work this morning---the sun was not even up when I got here....yikes! Hopefully all goes well.

Patti- how is Allo doing after his night? No hijinx? LOL I am wondering when cats get too mature for overnight hijinx? Last night- my cat got excited to see moles in the backyard--he pulled down the curtins in the kitchen window---fell into the sink with the curtins on top of dirty dishes, whilst tangled up inside them....This morning I come down to find more signs of an excited active cat and then come into the kitchen and he is sprawled out on the counter and just looking at me--like it is fine to be lounging on the counter to begin with.

The other night I made this gluten dreams vanilla cake and topped it with strawberry icing. There is about 1/2 the cake left and it was covered on the counter-he had got into that and pawed it up so I have pink paw prints on the counter tops.....The cake went into the trash....Was it a full moon or something????

How are my other sillies--

@Jane02, I hear you about the kale and collard greens.  I don't do dairy and must eat green leafies, too, to get sufficient calcium.  I must be very careful because some calcium supplements are made from ground up crustacean shells.  When I was deficient in Vitamin D, I took high doses of Vitamin D to correct the deficiency quickly.  This is safe and nontoxic.  Vitamin D level should be above 70 nmol/L.  Lifeguards and indigenous Pacific Islanders typically have levels between 80-100 nmol/L.   Levels lower than this are based on amount needed to prevent disease like rickets and osteomalacia. We need more thiamine when we're physically ill, emotionally and mentally stressed, and if we exercise like an athlete or laborer.  We need more thiamine if we eat a diet high in simple carbohydrates.  For every 500 kcal of carbohydrates, we need 500-1000 mg more of thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  If there's insufficient thiamine the carbs get stored as fat.  Again, recommended levels set for thiamine are based on minimum amounts needed to prevent disease.  This is often not adequate for optimum health, nor sufficient for people with absorption problems such as Celiac disease.  Gluten free processed foods are not enriched with vitamins like their gluten containing counterparts.  Adding a B Complex and additional thiamine improves health for Celiacs.  Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  Thiamine helps the mitochondria in cells to function.  Thiamine interacts with each of the other B vitamins.  They are all water soluble and easily excreted if not needed. Interesting Reading: Clinical trial: B vitamins improve health in patients with coeliac disease living on a gluten-free diet https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19154566/ Safety and effectiveness of vitamin D mega-dose: A systematic review https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34857184/ High dose dietary vitamin D allocates surplus calories to muscle and growth instead of fat via modulation of myostatin and leptin signaling https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38766160/ Safety of High-Dose Vitamin D Supplementation: Secondary Analysis of a Randomized Controlled Trial https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31746327/ Vitamins and Celiac Disease: Beyond Vitamin D https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11857425/ Investigating the therapeutic potential of tryptophan and vitamin A in modulating immune responses in celiac disease: an experimental study https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40178602/ Investigating the Impact of Vitamin A and Amino Acids on Immune Responses in Celiac Disease Patients https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10814138/

Thank you so much @knitty kitty for this insightful information! I would have never considered fractionated coconut oil to be a potential source of GI upset. I will consider all the info you shared. Very interesting about the Thiamine deficiency.  I've tracked daily averages of my intake in a nutrition software. The only nutrient I can't consistently meet from my diet is vitamin D. Calcium is a hit and miss as I rely on vegetables, dark leafy greens as a major source, for my calcium intake. I'm able to meet it when I either eat or juice a bundle of kale or collard greens daily haha. My thiamine intake is roughly 120% of my needs, although I do recognize that I may not be absorbing all of these nutrients consistently with intermittent unintentional exposures to gluten.  My vitamin A intake is roughly 900% (~6400 mcg/d) of my needs as I eat a lot of sweet potato, although since it's plant-derived vitamin A (beta-carotene) apparently it's not likely to cause toxicity.  Thanks again!
    • knitty kitty
Hello, @Jane02,  I take Naturewise D 3.  It contains olive oil.   Some Vitamin D supplements, like D Drops, are made with fractionated coconut oil which can cause digestive upsets.  Fractionated coconut oil is not the same as coconut oil used for cooking.  Fractionated coconut oil has been treated for longer shelf life, so it won't go bad in the jar, and thus may be irritating to the digestive system. I avoid supplements made with soy because many people with Celiac Disease also react to soy.  Mixed tocopherols, an ingredient in Thornes Vitamin D, may be sourced from soy oil.  Kirkland's has soy on its ingredient list. I avoid things that might contain or be exposed to crustaceans, like Metagenics says on its label.  I have a crustacean/shellfish/fish allergy.  I like Life Extension Bioactive Complete B Complex.  I take additional Thiamine B 1 in the form Benfotiamine which helps the intestines heal, Life Extension MegaBenfotiamine. Thiamine is needed to activate Vitamin D.   Low thiamine can make one feel like they are getting glutened after a meal containing lots of simple carbohydrates like white rice, or processed gluten free foods like cookies and pasta.   It's rare to have a single vitamin deficiency.  The water soluble B Complex vitamins should be supplemented together with additional Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine and Thiamine TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) to correct subclinical deficiencies that don't show up on blood tests.  These are subclinical deficiencies within organs and tissues.  Blood is a transportation system.  The body will deplete tissues and organs in order to keep a supply of thiamine in the bloodstream going to the brain and heart.   If you're low in Vitamin D, you may well be low in other fat soluble vitamins like Vitamin A and Vitamin K. Have you seen a dietician?
    • Scott Adams
I do not know this, but since they are labelled gluten-free, and are not really a product that could easily be contaminated when making them (there would be not flour in the air of such a facility, for example), I don't really see contamination as something to be concerned about for this type of product.
